*The origins and beginnings of the Cold War can technically be traced to 1945 following WWII with the words of George Orwell.
*However in reality and in the public eye the cold war did not fully develop and establish itself until 1949.
*Many things occurred but mainly we see the emergence of nuclear testing by the Soviets.
*The demonstration of nuclear power officially ends the American monopoly on atomic warfare and therefore, warfare and diplomacy is forever changed in 1949.
*America getting wind of this emergence essentially caused them to enter an arms race and both the Soviets and the US raced to establish a more powerful nuclear presence.
