∎ Fiscal Year (FY) 2008: National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) FY08 (Public Law 110-181) directed the Department of Defense (DoD) to improve the care, management, and transition of recovering Service members

∎ November 2008: Office of Warrior Care Policy established to develop policy for and oversee the Military Departments’ implementation of programs supporting wounded, ill and injured Service members

Provides specific direction and expectations for the "Training and Skills of Health Care Professionals, Recovery Care Coordinators, Medical Care Case Managers, and Non-Medical Care Managers for Recovering Service Members”

National Defense Authorization Act §1611

More specifically:“. . . policy shall provide for uniform standards among the military departments for the training and skills of health care professionals, recovery care coordinators, medical care case managers, and non-medical care managers for recovering service members”

“. . . policy shall specify standard training requirements and curricula for [the RCC, MCCM, and NMCM] under the program, including a requirement for successful completion of the training program before a person may assume the duties of such [role]”
