Background

The Disposal of Electronic Waste Program (19-6-1201, Utah Code Annotated) requires manufacturers of consumer electronic devices who offer such devices for sale in the State of Utah to submit an annual report to the Department of Environmental Quality listing the “eligible programs” available to consumers for recycling electronic devices.

An eligible program is defined as a “collection, reuse, or recycling system for a consumer electronic device” and may include a “Return by Mail” program, a physical collection site or a collection event.

The Department of Environmental Quality is responsible to compile the manufacturers’ reports for submittal to the Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment Interim Committee.

Report

For reporting year 2014, 54 manufacturers, either directly or through their manufacturer’s association, submitted reports to DEQ. The attached table summarizes those manufacturers who submitted reports and the eligible programs provided. The table also includes the manufacturers’ web sites where additional information can be obtained.

A detailed map of electronic wastes recycling locations prepared by the Division of Solid and Hazardous Waste is attached to this report.
