Objective:-To show different ways of

recycling-To show how recycling could

save our world

Page 2: Recyling Presentation

To help our environment there are the 4 R’s that we need to do – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Replace.

Our aim, will be to make everyone in school recycle.

We have already introduced the teddy bear bins which recycle paper and plastic bottles. This is an easy way to start. After we have reached our aim, we will try and go further with recycling.

Page 3: Recyling Presentation

If every one recycles then Kellett school will make a difference.

Pollution and global warming will be reduced because of our effort. This may spread on to other schools and will help our environment.

Hong Kong may become less polluted, if everyone contributes to recycling.

Things that we can already recycle:- Newspaper, magazines, leaflets, envelopes, paper- Plastic, Supermarket bags, plastic wrapping (in special

events)- Paper from projects/workThings we can recycle later:- Batteries- Electronics- CD’s, DVD’s, video tapes- Stationary- Cardboard boxes – especially in pizza sales (boxes)- Food waste, Beverage, chip packets

Paper, newspaper, magazines, leaflets, envelopes: These are things that are commonly used. Paper is most frequently used among everyone, therefore each class should have a recycling paper tray to put scrap paper in.

Plastic: Right now Y7 have a plastic bottle bin. Many children bring in plastic bottles. Y7 have tried leaving plastic bottles out on the side that we want to be recycled but then they are thrown away. We had an idea to have a plastic bottle box in the classroom that will be collected at the end of the week. That way they won’t get thrown away.

Page 6: Recyling Presentation

The rest of the materials to recycle haven’t yet been taken into context. We will start recycling them once we have gotten used to recycling paper and plastic bottles.

At the end of the week the Y7 will each have a floor to collect the material. Some of us have recycling places near where we live and there is a recycling place near Kellett who are happy to collect our recycling.

Things we can do

Save Water:

We can save water by telling every one to turn of the tap when applying soap to their hands.

Save electricity:

We have noticed that lots of classroom lights are left on when the room is empty. We need to turn them OFF.Use less plastic bags:

We would like children to bring in less plastic bags and if they do then we want them to REUSE them.

For the younger children from reception-P2 we thought that every time they recycle something they can put a tick next to their name and at the end of the week whoever has the most ticks gets 2 Kellett points. The Y7 will come down every week. At the end of the term whichever class has recycled the most will get a certificate. This will encourage the younger children to recycle as Kellett points are valuable to them.

Page 9: Recyling Presentation

For KS2 the competition is not so different. They will also get Kellett points. Another competition for them would be that each class will have to design a poster to persuade someone to recycle. For the other competition they will do like the ks1 and whichever class in their year recycles the most will get a class certificate.

20 ticks = 3 Kellett Points (Recycling monitor can check how many things each pupil recycled)

Each term, the person who has recycled the most gets a certificate.

No ripping up paper to make it look like more. Before you recycle re-use Teacher can appoint responsible pupil to

become recycling monitor. Chart must be in sight of teacher at all times

We would appreciate if each class would only use air conditioning when needed. Also we would like ALL electricity to be turned off when no-one is in the room. This can help Kellett school be greener. The smallest things can make a big difference.
