(10/02/10)The positives of doing this is that it is a large poster that people are able to see but also people may be talking about it so they will want to see it. The negatives to this is that its not viral and people who are in New York and go down that street can only see it.

The in-store promotion that involved Red Dead Redemption is the promotion and deals that you get when the consumer is going to purchase the game. It is also advertisement that there is in the store for example when the game is released there will be posters and signs on display in the shop.The positives to this type of advertisement it is targeted to the consumers that looks for games and interested in the release of the Red Dead Redemption. The negatives to this is there is limited spaced advertisement that they are allowed in the store for example another game might be released or a another game that is as popular.

For Guerilla marketing, Red Dead Redemption didnʼt do any guerilla advertisement because Red Dead Redemption is a high budget game. Guerilla marketing is a low budget way of marketing and this can be shown through graffiti, stickers and flashmobs.

For web advertising this is very popular as the company Rockstar has recently advertised Red Dead Redemption on there website. This is easy to access as gamers who are familiar with the company will go on their website to see if anything has been updated or new game releases.Also for web advertising there are various different trailers or game play that the audience can view this gives them an insight of what the game is going to be like which makes them more excited and looking forward to the game when it gets released. The pros for using web advertising is that it is targeted to the right consumer and if they have clicked on the website before they could be reminded and see it on another pop up at the side. The cons for web advertising is that many people ignore pop up or advertisements so this might not appeal to them.

Digital marketing is viral marketing that are mainly online social networking sites which are Facebook and Twitter. Nowadays social networking sites are very popular and to target their audience Red Dead Redemption will create pages advertising the game so that consumers are able to talk to each other about the game on it. They are able to “like” the page so are updated with anything new that is updated. The pros in doing this is that it is very cheap to do and it can reach to a huge audience as there are many users online now.

Direct Marketing is marketing that is directly reaching to the consumer for example through TV/radio, phone calls, official websites etc. For Red Dead Redemption they used there official Red Dead Redemption website that consumers were able to access through the Rockstar official website. Here the consumer can research more into the game where they would have official trailers and can meet the characters that are going to be in it.

Sale promotion is so that the consumer can pre-order the game but also if there is any vouchers to collect or deals so the consumer can save money. Consumers are able to pre-order the game so that they can receive it earlier than official release date. This makes it more exciting and targeted to fans of the game. To go along with the game Rockstar can make official merchandise that consumers can buy for example branded clothing for the game etc. The pros of this advertising is the pre-order idea is very popular and gamers are familiar with this. The cons is if the game is on offer and the consumer misses the price reductions the consumer may be annoyed and ask to be reduced.

Cross promotion is when consumers of one product are targeted with promotion of a related product. The pros in doing this is that it widens the target audience. The cons is that it might be difficult to attract appropriate partners that want to join together.
