Brief Presentation of RWC-Prishtina

Before 1961 – Germia natural resources and Wells in Kolevica

1961 – Badovc Lake Reservoir

1979 Batllave Lake Reservoir

Underground Resources Fushe Kosove and Obiliq

1999 – Consolidation of the Company

2007 Regionalization and it becomes as a Joint Stock Company with name Regional Water Company Prishtina

These days RWC-Prishtina supplies somewhere around 40% of Kosovo population connected to these services

Water Resources in RWC-P

RWC-P has two major Water Treatment Plants

-Albanik – Podujevë, and Badovc

There are 6 objects – facilities that treat underground

water from wells in: Kroni, Kastriot, Shtime, Lipjan,

Podujeva and Drenas.

22 Pump Stations

Water Tanks with V= 70.000 m³

1.200.000 m Primary and Secondary Pipelines

INTERESTING!

RWC-P has in total 120 000 consumers , with

110 000 active and 10 000 passive.

Water Supply System-Lipjan Unit

Data and characteristics of Lipjan Unit:

Lipjan unit supplies the town of Lipjan and 32 surrounding villages.

Lipjan Unit has approximately 8000 active consumers.

Around 190 km of pipelines including primary and secondary

Around 70 % of the network is with HDPE

Around 20 % of the network is AC

Left percentage is PVC , DCI, etc

Pumped water into treatment plant at Tank V = 450 m³

With buster pump station it pumps and feed 2 Reservoirs ( Water Tanks )

First steps taken were, replacing the existing water meter and a gate valve, installing new one and a saddle for

pressure control via pressure logger .

Detailed analyses for loss factors in areas where we have new network with

HDPE pipes

Develop a leak detection group also in the Unit with right equipment & devices

Replacing existing AC lines and other pipelines with burst problems

Creating new DMA zones

Installing water meters and calibration of existing water meters

Installing Bulk Water Meters

Finding and elimination of illegal connection

Inspection and survey all existing lines

Installing HDPE RC pipes lines
