This is a high school oriented student program designed for talented students along with local mentors to develop their talents and compete locally and nationally for College Scholarships, Internships, Computers. And other prizes. The program was introduced by Vernon Jarett of the NAACP in 1977, that consists of 26 categories of Sciences, Visual and Performing Art, Entrepreneurship, Humanities and Business. Under the guidance of Ms. Ruiz, we were able to alternate BSU multicultural Club bi weekly with the mentoring program to full participation of students that showed an enthusiasm and motivation for perfecting their skills. Leaders in the Community were available to assist individual students to be prepared for competition among their peers locally, then with a series of practices were able to perform and compete nationally. This undertaking by Ms Ruiz, was always handled with diligence and professionalism. In addition too, together with students spear heading each project through Ms Ruiz and myself we accomplished many outcomes for students by including lectures, guest speakers, Cultural trips, classes and parent informational sessions to ensure student success. Ms Ruiz created a system of rewards for students through a number of businesses and recruited volunteers to accompany students on outings. Under her guidance she was able to assist students with essays for scholarships, application and references for jobs, and community volunteer services. Ms Ruiz also coordinated fund raisers for all the programs and educational trips at area museums and educational lectures for students. Our annual dinner and guest speakers included, military honorary guests, city manager and other community members at large. Ms Ruiz possesses the necessary leadership, qualifications and skills to grow and develop successful programs for any group or individuals that requires her knowledge, expertise and love for people, children and all alike. Her show for patience, even when under pressure or deadlines examples her true potential capabilities. Dear Sir/ Madame,

I am writing this letter of reference in support of Ms.Susan Ruiz. I first met Ms Ruiz over 6 years ago as a teacher at Topeka West High School. She was introduced to me by Mr John Lewis as a sponsor for BSU/ Multicultural Program Coordinator. Upon meeting her and sharing my enthusiasm for development and leadership for student programs within the Community, we put together and created a merger that would benefit the students through a number of resources and enhancement towards mentorship and self sufficiency.

I was the Shawnee County Chairperson for the local NAACP Act-So Program. Afro Academics, Culture, Technology and Scientific Olympics of the mind.

Given the opportunity she would be able to plan and execute successes for better and brighter futures for whom she would be serving.
