Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) became active within PSG Tech in the year 2006 and is a NBA accredited academic department offering an UG programme in Biomedical Engineering. Recognized for its alignment with PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (PSG IMS&R), BME department aims to bring together the interdisciplinary skills of engineers, medical professionals and scientists to solve medical challenges and enhance health at all levels. Our mission is to provide world class education in Biomedical Engineering, foster research and development in Biomedical Engineering, encourage entrepreneurship and mould young men and women to innovate new technologies for health care applications. Hence, we prepare our undergraduates to become future leaders in the field and also to take up challenging careers in industry, research and academia.

Healthcare across the globe is facing major changes than a decade ago, thanks to the development of sophisticated medical technologies which have replaced the helping hand and healing touch of physicians. At the same time, application of technologies in the medical field with its strong focus on rendering medical care centered on early diagnosis and treatment plays a crucial role in improving the patient's quality of life. The complex spectrum of medical technology involves interplay of engineering, life sciences, clinical and managerial knowledge at its best for its development. A conference is an ideal forum to exchange innovative ideas and thoughts with researchers across the globe.

The International Conference on Engineering in Medicine and Life Sciences (ICEMLS - 2019) organized by Department of Biomedical Engineering, PSG College of Technology, India, is one of the most dedicated conferences aimed at streamlining new horizons of engineering in healthcare applications. The goal of this Conference is to create awareness, foster communication among its participants and also to bring the professionals from industry and academia to focus on advancements, and establishing new collaborations in these areas. This conference is designed to serve as an international platform for conglomeration of efficacious engineers, academic and medical professionals, industrial people, young researchers, scholars and students to share their thoughts and findings in Biomedical Sciences and discuss its implementation in healthcare. The theme of the conference revolves around broader domains in Biomedical Engineering. Original research papers / state-of-the-art reviews are invited for publication in all areas of Biomedical Engineering and Science.
