Ages 15-17

The CIT volunteer program is a camp designed for teens that want the

opportunity to prepare for positions as camp counselors or recreation

leaders. Teens will develop leadership skills, learn how to work with and

develop age appropriate activities for children. Teens must attend

June 22 – 26 for the 1-week training which will include First Aid and CPR

certification. Participants will volunteer at one of the 4 camp locations

during the remaining camp weeks (June 29 – Aug. 14). Successful

completion of the CIT program is a prerequisite for applying for Junior

Counselor positions.

*Cost covers uniform shirts, First Aid/CPR certification, field trip fees

and training.

Scholarships for Camps

St. Mary’s County Recreation & Parks is pleased to provide an opportunity for participants to apply for a

scholarship. Scholarships are made available through the generous contributions of several local civic organizations

and the net proceeds from the department’s Scott Verbic Memorial Golf Tournament and other special events

throughout the year. The scholarships offered provide qualified individual applicants the opportunity to participate in

an activity at a 50% prorated amount off the registration fee.

2. Provide proof of eligibility and attach to Scholarship Application. (Proof of eligibility includes Free or Reduced

Lunch approval form or Independence Card for adults) or an I.E.P. for TR Camp.

3. Currently have residence in St. Mary’s County. Only St. Mary’s County residents will be considered for

scholarship.

4. Payment: The registration fee & $25 deposit for Fun Day Camps is due at time of registration. 50% will be

applied to camp payment. For Sports Camps, 50% must be paid with registration. For TR $25 deposit must be

paid.

New Horizons (Ages 4-20) This camp is a 5-week summer camp program for children with various disabilities, provided in partnership with St. Mary’s County Public Schools. Activities may include arts and crafts, music, swimming, and exercise, field trips and much more. Camp is an approved respite care provider and has full time nursing staff on duty, allowing for medication disbursement, non-delegated nurs-ing duties and emergency care on the spot. A breakfast and lunch program sponsored by the Maryland State Department of Educa-tion Summer Food Service Program is also offered. Parents can work directly with SMCPS to have their approved extended school year services to be conducted at camp. Transportation hubs will be available throughout the county to aid families. Camp Inspire (Ages 4-18) Camp Inspire is a 4-week, co-ed, day camp designed specifically for children and young adults diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and is offered in partnership witth St. Mary’s County Public Schools. Our program is intended to develop your childs strengths and hidden abilities. We offer a very unique program of recreation activities, academic and social development. Activities may include, adapted PD, Social Stories, field trips and much more. Many children schedule their SMCPS approved extend-ed school years services to be conducted at camp. Parents can work directly with SMCPS to have their approved extended school year services to be conducted at camp. Project Inspire - Project Inspire operates within Camp Inspire, and specializes in job skill preparation. Campers will participate in a variety of job readiness skills from resume preparation, mock interviews and on the job site experiences. Peer Assistance Program Peer assistance is a program designed to benefit both the campers and you, the peer assistant. Being a peer assistant allows you to provide campers diagnosed with a disability extra attention, encouragement, and feedback they may need to experience success. Boys Lacrosse Camp & High School Lacrosse

(Ages 8-14) Learn the basics of the game, fundamentals such as

catching, passing, scooping and cradling the ball will be taught. Learn

be covered and games will be played. All participants must bring their

own equipment (stick, helmet, gloves, mouth guard & pads). Campers

must bring a lunch and water bottle. Camp will be held indoors at times,

Fun with Flips Gymnastics Camp (Ages 7-12) The camp program is fun and challenging for the beginner

Important to Remember

1. Please complete all information required on the form accurately and completely.

2. Please indicate if your child has any medical concerns, special needs or accommodations and any other

concerns you feel are necessary for staff to know in order to provide your child a safe and happy summer.

3. Prior to completing the registration form, please have the following information handy. It is required in

order to complete your registration: Date of your child’s DTP immunization date and Primary Care

Physician’s contact information.

4. Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to register for general recreation programs. With your

registration, please include information regarding your disability and accommodation needed. A two-week

notice is required in order for the Department to make reasonable accommodations based on individual

needs for successful inclusion.
