From Interstate 516 in Savannah, take Highway 80 East for about 19 miles to Tybee Island. At the first stop light on the island, turn left onto Campbell Avenue. When Campbell Avenue ends take a left onto Van Horn Street and then a right onto Meddin Drive. Follow Meddin Drive to the north side of the Tybee Island Lighthouse where there is public parking. Tybee Island Lighthouse is open every day, except Tuesday, from 09.00h to 16.30h.

Savannah Harbor Light Follow Savannah's cobbled River Street east along the river. As you make the U-turn at its eastern end and climb up to East Bay Street, the Old Harbor Light will be on your right in Emmet Park.

Hilton Head Rear Range

Take Highway 278 onto Hilton Head Island. Near mile marker 8 is Palmetto Dunes Resort where the light is located. From 278, turn east onto Queens Folly Road until you come to a guard shack. Tell them you want to visit the lighthouse, and they will give you a pass. Proceed straight on Ocean Lane, until you see a gate on your right for Arthur Hills Golf Course. Go through the gate, and then turn left onto Leamington Lane and follow it to the lighthouse.

Take Highway 278 to Hilton Head Island. Once on the Island, take the Cross Island Parkway until you arrive at the traffic circle and then turn onto Greenwood Drive. Greenwood Drive will become Plantation Drive. Follow Plantation Drive to Lighthouse Road and then turn right on Lighthouse Road, which will lead to the lighthouse in the marina at Harbour Town.

Hunting Island From Beaufort, travel 16 miles east on Highway 21 to Hunting Island State Park. Once on the island, take the second entrance to your left where you will need to pay an entrance fee. Ask directions to the lighthouse, which is just a short drive away. The lighthouse is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Baskins Falls is located on the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail out of Gatlinburg,TN.  At light #8 in Gatlinburg, turn south onto Airport Road.  After 3.7 miles the road turns into the one-way Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail.  About 0.2 miles farther is the first trailhead for the falls.  The only marking is a small brown sign for Baskins Creek Trail.  There are a couple of small pullovers, one before and one just after the trailhead. Easier hike (elevation):Your preference may be to drive on around to the second trailhead.  The hike distance is the same but the difficulty is different. The second trailhead is located another 2.7 miles past the first.  You will see a decent sized parking area on the left side of the road just before the road crosses a bridge.  There is an old homestead located on the other side of the bridge.  The trail leaves the parking area so you can't miss it.  Again it is called Baskins Creek Trail.

Grotto Falls en Lower Grotto Falls(GSMNP, Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail)

() The hiking trail is located on the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail just out of Gatlinburg, TN.  Parking is 1.5 miles past the first trailhead for Baskins Falls or 1.7 miles past the official beginning of the motor nature trail.

The hike is on the Trillium Gap Trail.  Official park information lists the hike at 2.6 miles roundtrip. It's not a bad hike with a total elevation gain around 600 feet.

Place of a thousand drips(GSMNP, Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail)

You can reach the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail (closed in winter) by turning at traffic light #8 in Gatlinburg, TN.  Follow this road into the park.  The waterfall is at stop #15 on the self-guided car tour.  For those who don't know, that would be towards the end of the loop.

I recommend parking at the park headquarters but if you're going to the visitor center, park there instead. The Sugarlands Visitor Center is located at the junction of Newfound Gap Rd and Little River Rd just outside of Gatlinburg and the GSMNP Headquarters are next doorIf parking at the visitor center, head behind the center and toward the headquarters building parking lot.  Don't take the nature trail. On the other side of the parking lot go left on the paved road and cross the small bridge.  You will see a sign on the right side of the road for Cataract Falls.  The falls are about 100 yards or so down this level trail.

This doesn't really qualify for a hike.  Round trip mileage from the park headquarters is about 0.2 miles and maybe 0.4 miles roundtrip from Sugarlands Visitor Center.

Mannis Branch Falls(GSMNP, Little River Rd)

Traveling westward from Sugarlands, Mannis Branch Falls is about a mile past the turn for Elkmont.  Located on Little River Road, the turnout will be on your left.  It isn't much, just some dirt parking mainly for fishermen.  The right location could be tricky to spot. No hike.

Laurel Falls(GSMNP, Little River Rd)

To reach Laurel Falls take Little River Rd (TN-73) from the Sugarlands Visitor Center for about 3.6 miles.  If you get to the turnoff for Elkmont you've gone too far. 

The hike is slightly uphill, starting around 2,200 feet and ending around 2,600 feet with the majority of the elevation gain being in the first half of the 1.3 mile hike.  Still, I consider this an easy hike and the number of "out of shape" people I saw on the hike certainly reinforce this opinion.

Meigs Falls is 13 miles from Sugarlands Visitor Center.  Traveling westward on Little River Road, the turnout will be on your left one mile past The Sinks. From the western end of Little River Rd (junction with Laurel Creek Rd), go 4.7 miles.  The turnout will be on your right.  Look for a bunch of cars.  It's a big turnout.

West Prong Falls(GSMNP, Laurel Creek Rd)

The waterfall is 0.2 miles west of Tremont Rd on Laurel Creek Rd or 0.4 miles from where the Townsend entrance road terminates at Little River Rd. From Sugarlands Visitor Center, travel westward on Little River Road and look for the turnout on your right 0.2 miles past Tremont Rd.

Abrams Falls(GSMNP, Cades Cove)

Abrams Falls is in the north west area of the park called Cades Cove. We took 441 south out of Gatlinburg and followed the signs to Cades Cove. The drive was through the forest and along some streams and it was hard keeping my eyes on the road. The others kept going ‘look at that!’ and I couldn’t help but to sneak a peak. Wildflowers were everywhere – I read in Mark’s book that the park has over 1500 species of flowering plants! Once in Cades Cove, we got on the Cades Cove Loop Road which is a 1 way, 1 lane road that circles a beautiful valley. I didn’t get the milage, but look for a sign to the right after a mile or so leading to the parking area for the trail head to the falls.

The trail to the falls is about 2.5 miles and easy to follow. It does have some rocky and steep places and I’d give it a ‘moderate’ on the huffin’ & puffin’ scale. Abrams Creek is within sight or earshot along most of the trail and we crossed 3 foot bridges along the way to the falls. The last one crosses Wilson Branch just before the falls, and if you follow it back up stream, you’ll see some nice moss covered rocks.

There are 3 falls in the Deep Creek area of the Smokies that are easy to get to - Juneywhank, Toms Branch, and Indian Creek. Dana, Kenny and I stopped here after seeing Mingo Falls in Cherokee. We came down Hwy 19 into Bryson City and I believe took a right on Everett St. After crossing the railroad tracks, we took a right on Depot St, went a block or so to Ramseur, took a left then immediate right onto Deep Creek Rd. This road curves on around for a couple of miles, passing several places to rent inner tubes to float down the creek, and ending in the Deep Creek camping and picnic area. There are a couple of parking areas and I think we stayed to the left to where the trail head for Juneywhank is at the end of the parking lot. We went to Juneywhank 1st, but went up the trail and crossed the creek to the smaller path on the right side.

o get to the other 2 falls, head back to the parking area and follow the gravel road/trail up Deep Creek. Toms Branch Falls is about 1/4 mile up, but is mostly obscured by vegetation in the warmer months. Toms Branch spills into Deep Creek from the opposite side and the falls is about 80'. I suspect if you're there in the summer months you'll see tubers floating by.

Continue up the trail another 1/2 mile until you reach a split. There's a sign pointing to the right towards Indian Creek Falls which is only a couple of hundred feet up on the left.

Mingo Falls (GSMNP, Cherokee)

Mingo Falls is located in the Qualla Indian Reservation in Cherokee, NC. ……The Parkway ends in about 15 miles near Cherokee at Hwy 441. Turn left off of the Parkway. You used to be able to drive about 1/2 mile and turn left on a road that then connects to Big Cove Rd. On my last visit, this road was closed, so continue a short distance to the first stop light and turn left. Go a very short distance and turn left on Big Cove Rd - try not to run over any of the tourists. Follow Big Cove Rd for 4.5 - 5 miles, passing the KOA Campground on the right. Start looking for a small sign saying 'Mingo Falls Next Right" and take that road - Mingo Falls Bridge Rd - over the bridge to the parking area at the trail head.

If the Parkway is closed, you can continue into Cherokee on Hwy 19 and look for a right turn on to Hwy 441 and get to Big Cove Rd that way.

The trail to the falls is only ¼ mile, but heads up about 150 stairs, levels off and ends at a small wooden bridge that crosses Mingo Creek in front of the falls.

From Maggie Valley, head up Hwy 19 south to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Cross under the Parkway and continue downhill on Hwy 19 towards Cherokee. From the Parkway, it's 1.5 miles to an unmarked pullout on the left side of the road. There's a small blue sign indicating Soco Falls .5 miles ahead, but my odometer measured it at .3 miles from that sign. There's no sign at the pullout, but you can hear the waterfalls from the parking area and there's a break in the guard rail. I don't have an exact mileage from Cherokee, but the map indicates it's about 10 miles and I think there is one of those blue signs coming from that direction also.

The trail begins at the break in the guard rail. Don't take the smaller steep trail heading straight down, but take the trail along the guard rail away from the falls for a short distance, then cut back down towards the viewing deck. It's less than 5 minutes from the parking area and is kid friendly. The viewing deck is well built and a good size and it looks like a few trees have been cleared to improve the view. The picture below is the view you will have from the deck. The taller falls which the map indicates is Soco Falls can be clearly seen, but there's not a very good view of the smaller falls on the left.

Most of you will want a better view and you'll notice a trail leading down from one end of the deck. Follow it for as far as you think it's safe. It's not very far to this view near the top of the smaller falls. It's fairly safe if you stay on the trail.

Pearson’s Falls We were coming from Little Bradley Falls, so we just headed back down 1142 and crossed under I-26. From Asheville, take I-26 south to exit 59 and take a right. Go 1.1 miles and take a left on Hwy 176, then go 2.5 miles and turn right on Pearson Falls Rd. The entrance to the falls is just under a mile on the left - stop at the shed to pay the fee. The trail is easy and less than 1/2 mile.

Elk Falls(Blue Ridge PW)

This waterfall is easy to find.  Traveling east on  U.S. 19E, look for a sign just before entering the town of Elk Park.  The sign is brown with white letters, on the left side of the road, and says "Elk River Falls".  Turn left at the sign onto Old Mill Rd.  Continue on this road for about 1/4 mile and turn left onto Elk River Rd.  Follow this road to the end (just over 4 miles) where there is a parking area. There is one slightly confusing spot where the road appears to "Y" at a one lane bridge (there is a sign for the bridge).  Bear right on the main road at this spot. There is a small hill to climb as you approach the top of the falls, and of course you have the vertical distance down to the base of the falls for the best view with the trail being a littler rougher.  The trail is marked with yellow blazes but you aren't going to have any problems getting lost.

Linville Falls is near the Wilson Creek Wilderness area and if you're on the Blue Ridge Parkway near here, you really should plan to stop. It's rather touristy, so go on a week day to avoid the crowds if you can. The road to the falls only turns one way off the BRP at mile post 316.4, and dead ends after a mile and a half at the visitors center.

The falls is owned by the National Park Service, which operates a visitor center and several miles of non-handicapped accessible trails with 4 overlooks for the falls. The 0.5-mile (0.80 km) Upper Falls trail leads to the top of the falls, where visitors can see the small twin upper falls and the water spiraling through a small canyon on its way to the main falls. The Erwin's View trail leads to 2 overlooks, the Chimney View overlook (0.7 miles) and the Erwin's View overlook (0.8 miles). The 0.5-mile (0.80 km) Plunge Basin Trail leads to the Plunge Basin Overlook, which provides a view of the falls from the other side of the river. Finally, the 0.7-mile (1.1 km) Gorge Trail, which branches off from the Plunge Basin trail, leads to an area near the foot of the falls

Duggers Creek Falls(Blue Ridge PW)

It's just off the main parking area for Linville Falls and is an easy stroll. Come out of the visitors center and head towards the paved parking lot. Walk all the way back to the far right corner and look for the easy-to-find Duggers Creek Trail. Head to the left and soon cross the wooden foot bridge. The small waterfall is tucked back into the rock channel as you look to your right up the creek.

Walker Falls & Douglas Falls (Blue Ridge PW)

() These falls are in the Pisgah National Forest's Toecane Ranger District near the Craggy Gardens area. The way I went was to turn into the Craggy Gardens Picnic area off the BRP.

I then turned left just a short way up on to the gravel FR 63 and headed down and into the forest. This is a steep and winding road, but in pretty good shape and a beautiful drive. After 6 miles, the road ends and I took a right on Dillingham Rd. I guess I had gone back out of the forest by then, because I was in kind of a rural residential area. The road is paved here, but turns back into gravel (FR 74) and heads back into the forest.There are several small falls along the way. Walker Falls is 5 1/4 miles down FR 74 on the left.

Douglas Falls is another 4 1/2 miles farther down FR 74, and the road ends at the parking area for the falls. The trail to the falls is fairly easy and about 1/2 a mile. There are some huge hemlocks in the area and around the falls. Unfortunately, some have fallen near the falls. The falls is a 60' drop and I suspect it can be barely a trickle in dry weather.

Cascade Falls (Falls Creek)(Blue Ridge PW)

The falls is located in E. B. Jeffress Park on the Blue Ridge Parkway at milepost 271.9, 4.4 miles north of where U. S. Highway 421 crosses the parkway at Deep Gap. The easy loop trail begins at the north end of the parking area for a total loop of approximately .8 mile.

Roaring Fork Falls(East of Asheville, along I-40)

Setrock Creek Falls and Roaring Fork Falls are 2 really nice waterfalls that probably don't get the attention they deserve. Both falls are in the same general area and there are several ways to get to them depending on which way you are coming from. From areas west of Old Fort, take I-40 east and get off at Exit 72 (Hwy 70). Drive about 9.5 miles on Hwy 70 and take a left on Hwy 80 at a stop light. From areas east of Marion, get off I-40 on Hwy 221, go north to Hwy 70 west, then look for 80 north to the right. Hwy 80 is a very curvy road once it passes the lake. At just under 12 miles, come to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Continue on Hwy 80 for another 2.2 miles and turn left on South Toe River Rd (SR 1205). There may be a sign for the Busick Work Center and Black Mountain Campground.

If you want to hit Roaring Fork Falls 1st, cross the bridge and turn left at the Busick Work Center sign. This road ends at the Center in less than 1/4 mile. Park on the left, the trail is the gated road to the right. Hike up the road for just over 1/2 mile. You'll begin to hear the creek on the left and the road crosses the creek. Just before the crossing, take the path to the right over the foot bridge. The trail ends at the base of the falls a short distance from the road. The falls is a 100' long beautiful cascade.

Waterfall on Whiteoak creek (East of Asheville, along I-40)

If you are visiting Roaring Fork and Setrock Creek Falls and have the time, add this to your itinerary. It's an easy drive and hike. From the intersection of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Hwy 80, drive north on Hwy 80. At 2.2 miles is the left hand turn to Roaring Fork and Setrock Creek Falls (South Toe River Rd). Continue past there on Hwy 80, drive just over 5 miles and turn left on White Oak Rd (SR1156). Drive another 1/2 mile or so and turn left on White Oak Creek Rd (SR1157). This road dead ends after another 1.5 miles. Park here - the waterfall is right there and was visible through the trees when I visited in February. Walk up the old logging road and look for some side paths down to the base.

Visitors to the falls may view it from U. S. Highway 64 for free. To view the falls more closely, visitors must pay an admission fee ($14 for adults, $6 for children as of 2007[2]) at the park gate. After admission, visitors may hike either the moderate-difficulty 1.5-mile round-trip Hickory Nut Falls Trail to the base of the falls or the strenuous 2.0-mile round-trip Cliff-Skyline Trail to the top of the falls.

Moore Cove Falls(Pigsah / Brevard)

From the intersection of Hwys 64, 280 and 276 north near Brevard, drive north on Hwy 276 north for about 6.5 miles and pull off in the paved area on the right side of the road. You'll see a wooden info center - if you cross the bridge you've gone too far. If you are coming from the Blue Ridge Parkway, get off on the Hwy 276 exit and drive south for 8.2 miles, cross the bridge and pull off on the left. You will have passed Sliding Rock on the way down the mountain. The trail begins on the bridge side of the info board. Cross the wooden foot bridge across Looking Glass Creek and head uphill for a short distance. That's the steepest part of the trail. At the top, head to the right and follow the yellow blazes on the trees.

Looking Glass Falls(Pigsah / Brevard)

From the intersection of Hwys 64, 280 and 276 north near Brevard, drive north on Hwy 276 north for 5.6 miles and pull off in the paved lane on the right. If you are coming from the Blue Ridge Parkway, get off on the Hwy 276 exit and drive south for 9.2 miles. Looking Glass Falls will be on your left. You will have passed Sliding Rock and the parking for Moore Cove Falls.

Raven Cliff Falls Caesar’s Head State Park. A very popular 4.4-mile roundtrip trail leads to an overlook across the gorge from the falls. The 4.4-mile hike is moderately difficult with steep descents in the first .25 mile and last .75 mile. That means you will have to ascend on the return trip. When you reach a set of stairs on this trail, you are near the halfway point. When you reach the shelter, turn left to begin the final .75 mile descent to the overlook.

Bridal Veil Falls(Nantahala)

Bridal Veil Falls is located on the side of U.S. Highway 64 2.3 miles (3.7 km) north of Highlands, North Carolina. Highway 64 originally used the curve of roadway behind the falls exclusively so that all traffic went behind them; however, this caused problems with icing of the roadway during freezing weather, and Hwy. 64 has been re-routed around the front of the falls since. There is a parking area on the side of the road, where visitors can park and view the falls as well.

Heading west on Hwy 64 in Highlands, take a left on Hwy 106, go about 1.7 miles and look for the sign to Glen Falls Scenic area on the left. The gravel road to the Falls (SR 1618) veers off immediately to the right after you take the left, so go slow. The road dead ends into the parking area. The trail is about ¾ mile and not bad if your in OK shape. The falls in 3 sections – the upper is 70’, then a 60’ drop, then a 15 footer and the trail leads you to all 3 sections.

Cullasaja Falls (Nantahala)

Located along a very dangerous stretch of Hwy 64. The 250’ falls and cascades is viewable from the road, but there’s only a small pull off area suitable for 2-3 vehicles. The safest way to approach is from the Franklin side, west of the falls. From the intersection of Hwy 441 and 64 east, the falls is about 7.7 miles east on 64. If you are coming from Highlands, the falls is 5.5 miles past Dry Falls. You might do better passing the falls and turning around a little ways down the road. Pull completely off the road! Tractor trailers use this section of road and they need both lanes to get around these curves. You’ll have the view of the falls in the above shot from the pull off if you manage to pull off safely.

Kalakaleskies Falls(Nantahala)

Located off US 64/28 west, 2.5 miles northwest of Highlands on the Cullasaja River. The Sequoyah Dam is at the head of the falls. There are 18 small falls within a quarter mile paralleling US 64/28.

Whitewater falls(Nantahala)

Whitewater Falls on the Whitewater River is the last river in the Jocassee Gorge area just before you reach South Carolina. It's the highest falls east of the Mississippi River (411 ft) according to some sources and is truly a very beautiful waterfall. Drive 9 miles south of Hwy 64 on Hwy 281 and look for a sign and parking area on the left. There is a $2 fee per vehicle here, a good view of the falls is handicap accessible, and there are restrooms. Needless to say, this tends to be a tourist attraction, but is a must stop if you are in the area. The walk to the top viewing area is less than 1/4 mile and is on a paved path.

The first observation area gives a pretty good view of the falls, but for a better view you'll need to take the stairs down to the next platform. I think there are 155-160 of them. This viewing area is small and there will probably be a few people around waiting to take some pictures, so to avoid that and get the best photo, go over the rail on the left hand side, and under the platform to the big rock right below the platform. Below is a shot I took in October '04 looking down the steps. The fog was so thick we could barely see the waterfall from the viewing areas.

Silver Run Falls(Nantahala)

To get to this falls, head west on Hwy 64 from Lake Toxaway into Cashiers and take a left on Hwy 107. Parking is a little over 4 miles down on the left and is just a wide area on the shoulder with room enough for maybe 5 vehicles or so. The trail head is obvious - the trail is less than 1/4 mile and easy. On the way to the waterfall you'll cross the Whitewater River.

Just to the east of Whitewater Falls.

It tumbles about 600' from Hwy 281 north of the Whitewater River into the river below Whitewater Falls. The entire series of cascades can only be seen from the air, so I wouldn't consider it a 600' waterfall. You can see the bottom part of the falls without too much difficulty. Head to the viewing platform for Whitewater Falls and continue down the steep trail to the river. Cross the bridge and take the trail to the right. In less than 1/4 mile, you'll come to a footbridge at the base of the falls.

Dry Falls(Nantahala)

Dry Falls is located on the side of U.S. Highway 64 3.1 miles (5.0 km) north of Highlands, North Carolina. There is a parking area on the side of the road, where visitors can park before walking the short path with stairs to the falls

High Falls(Dupont Forest, Nantahala)

To Buck Forest Access Area from Brevard / Cedar Mountain: Turn north 2.5 miles on Cascade Lake Road and a right on Staton Road at the Agfa Plant sign. Follow Staton Road 1.3 miles to the Buck Forest Access Area on the right.From the parking area, take Buck Forest Road about 1/3 mile, then turn left on Triple Falls Trail and immrediate right on High Falls Trail. Continue straight (avoiding several right forks) to find the High Falls Shelter and views of the falls.

From Triple Falls, High Falls is about a 15 minute walk further upstream.From Triple Falls, continue up the same trail until the intersection with High Falls Trail. (Triple Falls to the right goes to Buck Forest Road.) Turn left and walk about 2000' parallel to the Little River. Turn right at the next intersection (still High Falls Trail), and continuel up a moderately steep slope (about 900') to views of High Falls. There is a trail to the bottom of the falls further up on the left (warning: slippery rocks!). Also, steps to the right take you to the High Falls shelter, with excellent views.

Return to Hooker Falls Access Area along same trails or continue up High Falls Trail toward Buck Forest Road, turn right on Triple Falls Trail to the Triple Falls shelter. Take Galax Trail down to Staton Road, go under the bridge and take the stairs to the left and cross bridge facing trafic.

To Hooker Falls Area from Brevard / Cedar Mountain: Turn north 2.5 miles on Cascade Lake Road past the Corn Mill Shoals Access Area. Turn right on Staton Road at the Agfa Plant sign 2.2 miles past the Buck Forest Access Area to the Hooker Falls Access Area on the left, just past the DOT bridge across the Little River. Walk around the gate in the parking lot and along the dirt road, bearing left at the fork and continuing parallel to the river. In a few minutes you will approach the top of Hooker Falls. Continue straight on the path to good viewing location at the pool below.

Triple Falls(Dupont Forest, Nantahala)

From the Hooker Falls Access Area on Staton Road (see directions), cross over Staton Road, carefully watching for traffic. Cross bridge and descend steps to the Little River.

Find the Triple Falls Trail running parallel to the river and hike upstream about 1000' on level ground. (Bikers and equestians take Galax Trail to the right.) Trail then bends to the right and ascends another 1000' feet up a steep slope. Find view of Triple Falls on your left. There is a trail down to the falls further up on the left.Return the same way, or continue up to High Falls.

Wintergreen Falls(Dupont Forest, Nantahala)

To Guion Farm Acces from Brevard / Cedar Mountain: Turn north 2.5 miles on Cascade Lake Road past the Corn Mill Shoals Access Area. Turn right at the Agfa Plant sign 4.6 miles on Staton Road past the Buck Forest, Hooker Falls and Lake Imaging Access Areas. Turn right 1.6 miles on Sky Valley Road past the junction of Old CCC Road to the Guion Farm Access Area on the right.

Park at the Guion Farm Access Area on Sky Valley Road. Walk south through the grassy field away from the Guion farm until the clearing ends, and continue along the Tarkiln Branch Road as it bends south (away from Sky Valley Rd.) After a short distance, the trail will cross the small Tarkiln Creek. A short distance beyond the creek, take a right fork. At about 3/4 mile from the parking lot, turn left onto Wintergreen Falls Trail (formally Grassy Creek Road at the marked intersection. Continue for about 1/3 mile on Wintergreen Falls Trail, then bear to the left at the major fork. (The right fork leads to the ford of the Grassy Creek.) Continue parallel to the creek. Do not take the eroded path up the steep incline, but find the footpath just beyond and to the right of it. Scramble over the boulders on a narrow footpath to the 20' falls.

Bridal Veil Falls(Dupont Forest, Nantahala)

To Fawn Lake area from Brevard / Cedar Mountain: Turn north on Cascade Lake Road to an immediate right for 2.8 miles on Reasonover Road. The Fawn Lake Access Area is on the left.Note: Directions for trail users only. Vehicles require Special Use Permit, No general vehicle access allowed.From the Fawn Lake Access Area, turn right 0.10 miles and take the first left on Conservation Road for 1.70 miles past the airstrip and turn left on Bridal Veil Falls Road 0.53 miles to the base of the Bridal Veil Falls. Total=2.33 miles.

Tallulah Gorge State Park is located in the town of Tallulah Falls, GeorgiaThe Tallulah River flows through the 600 foot deep gorge. In its almost two mile trip through the gorge from the bottom of the Tallulah Lake Dam to Tugaloo Lake the river flows over five major falls; L'Eau d'Or (46'), Tempesta (76'), Hurricane (96'), Oceana (50') and Bridal Veil (17'). A loop trail of 3 miles provides access to several overlooks where one can observe all but Bridal Veil Falls. The loop trail includes steps which descend to a swinging bridge (opened in 2002) spanning the gorge within 85 feet of the gorge floor. Steps climb back to the rim on the other side and the loop can be completed by walking over the Tallulah Lake Dam.
