David Bellamy ConservationAwards - helping us look at thebig picture! We’re proud that our Parks aredifferent, rather unique in fact.We like the quiet life, away from itall, resting with peace and

solitude. Sounds good doesn’t it. All three ofour Parks have consistently been awarded Goldstatus from the David Bellamy ConservationAward scheme for Holiday Parks. We’ve createdan environment that’s not just beautiful andenjoyable, but is an oasis for wildlife. Ourgrounds team work throughout the year toimplement guidelines and projectsrecommended by the award organisers, including wildflower meadows where Vetch,Cowslip, Oxeye and Meadow Sweet grow inabundance during the spring and summermonths, using seeds originated in Britain. We were delighted to this year be awarded our"Hedgerow Habitat" badge for the fantasticwork that our grounds team do in conservingand enhancing these habitats which are hometo insects, butterflies, bees, birds and of coursefragrant wildflowers.

Bees are a vital part of the Welshcountryside. They are bothfascinating and beautiful, and areone of the important pollinators of

crops, fruits and other plants. Our bee friendlyapproach to conservation was recognised withthe recently awarded "Honey Bee friendly"

status. We use bee friendly plants in all of ourborders, baskets and boxes on Park includingborage, lobelia, aquilegia, sunflowers and verbena. “Few people realise just how importantbumblebees are. They are charming littlethings and a pleasure to see, but they also doan essential job which many people take forgranted. If bumblebees continue to declinethen we face ecological turmoil”.Chris Packham, Naturalist, Television PresenterSource: Bumblebee Conservation.orgOther green projects include theinstallation of greenhouses; wenow collect seeds in the autumnto propagate our own plantsready for planting out in early Springtogether with the propagation of other plantsthroughout the year from our on site cuttingsprogramme. Our energy consumption ismonitored and we use green energies as oftenas possible on the Parks. We know that you will be keen as a visitor toCeltic Holiday Parks to do your bit, to supportour environmental goals. By recycling whenyou’re on holiday using our dedicated recyclingareas you’ll avoid sending waste unnecessarilyto landfill, where even simple things likepolystyrene cups can take over 500 years todecay and glass bottles over one million years.Let’s do all we can to keep Pembrokeshire’slandscapes as green as they are today.

"Bees may be tiny, but they are really powerful insects, essential to our healthy environment"
