THE FLASH 2016

READING During this month, we will continue in the theme “Teamwork– What is the value of teamwork?”; focus is on phrasing, expression, text evidence, and dictionary skills. Students will be reviewing affixes and nouns. (Common Core Standards: RFS.3-4, L.2-6) Please remember to encourage independent reading. Checkout this link from our reading specialist, Megan Gidcumb, who illustrates the importance of this activity:

WRITING During this month, we will focus on conventions. Please remind your child to use punctuation and capital letters when you see them working. We will be continuing to work on openings and closing in our required modes: argument, narrative, and informative, while employing the writing process.

(Common Core Standards: W.1 – 6)

MATH We will be focusing on Numbers Base Ten Fraction and Measurement and Data. Our emphasis will be problem solving. Students are being tested regularly on their multiplication facts. They should be practicing their multiplication facts through 12!
