Report of the CNE Program

The CNE program was conducted by Dept. of Obstetrics and Gynecological

Nursing on the Topic “Advance Birth Techniques” held at the Sumandeep

Nursing College Auditorium. The presentation include information about new

birth techniques, with strategies of pain reduction and one which promoted

natural birth without the medical interventions.

The program begins with an opening speech by Ms. Shelin Christie and

she extended a warm welcome to all guests speaker and the participants.

Lamp lighting was done by Mr. Ravindra H.N. Principal SCON, Ms. Sijo

Koshy Asst. Prof. OBG SNC, and HOD’s of all Departments.

Inauguration of the CNE Program

The theme was unfolded by Mr. Ravindra H.N. Principal of SCON. He gave

an interesting introduction regarding traditional birth techniques and

advance birth techniques. After his speech the presentation followed

Mr. Ravindra H.N. Introducing the Topic

Ms. Sijo Koshy, Asst, Prof. SNC begin the presentation with the sub topic

Water birth and Bradley’s method of the Advance Birth Techniques, the

meaning of Bradley’s method and water birth, history behind the origin of this

methods. It also included the Bradley’s husband coached classes. Interesting

facts about methods, its technique, risks to baby, benefits to mother and where

in India this both methods are in action. This both method was taken in the first

session and ended with a complete knowledge regarding both the topics.

Ms. Sijo Koshy, addressing on Bradley’s method and Water birth

Next session was handed to Ms. Vruti Patel, II M.Sc. OBG, SNC, and the

session was about the next two techniques that include Lamaze method and

Leboyer Method. This session provided knowledge on the Lamaze philosophy of

birth and Leboyer Technique, Lamaze classes, breathing exercises, how this

both techniques works and where in India this both techniques are applied.

Ms. Vruti Patel, delivering speech on Lamaze method and Leboyer method

Next session was then continued by Ms. Poonam Gadiya II M.Sc. OBG, on

other two techniques i.e. Lotus method and Hypno Birth, she stressed on the

method, benefits, risks to the baby, and the role of nurse while practicing these

two techniques and availability of these service in India.

The last session was conducted by Ms. Christie Shelin about TENS

method of birthing and she include Role of Nurse Midwife in Advance Birth

Techniques. The meaning of trasncutaneous electrical nerve stimulation and

how does this method works in relieving pain and what are the benefits of this

method to the mother and where in India this method in action at present were

included. This session also dealt with the role of independent nurse midwife and

her role in practicing the above explained advanced birth techniques that used

worldwide.

After completion of all methods the session was opened for discussion where

the doubts of various participants were made clear. Feedback form was

distributed that included the opinions of the speakers regarding the CNE

program and about the topic and its understanding level.

At the End, the faculty and participants doubts were clarified and there was

open discussion where participants told their views on these methods.

Mr. Kevin Christian, Lecturer, MSN, SNC gave his view about the CNE

program and its organization and also regarding the selection and content of the

topic.

The CNE program concluded by Vote of thanks given by Ms. Vruti Patel, II

M.Sc. OBG, on behalf of all the OBG Department in which she thanked all the

delegates/participants/speakers and others in Continuing Education Program

on Advance Birth Technique and having an interactive session with all. High Tea

Followed
