Gujarat Nursing Council awarded “5” credit points for state level Conference 2017.
Registration Details: 563 Delegates from different nursing colleges of different districts
participated in the state level Conference. Total30 colleges/institutes/hospitals participated in the
state level conference. Nursing professionals, faculties, Postgraduate students and Ph.D scholars
from different district had attended the state level conference.
OBJECTIVES:
Enhance nurses’ knowledge regarding early identification and management of risk
pregnancies.
Light on the current vital statistics and understand the measures to prevent maternal
mortality.
Find the opportunities for counseling on psychological and social aspect of pregnancy,
childbirth and early parenting.
Understand the recent advancement in midwifery practice with evidence based approach.
With the advancement of midwifery education, enhance nurses' knowledge regarding
advances in the care and treatment of pregnant women.
Provides best opportunity to reach the largest assemblage of participants from the Nursing
community.
Provides opportunity to view midwifery as an independent profession.
Acknowledge/discuss/ opine the midwifery nursing profession for the welfare of self and
human society.

INAUGURAL SESSION:
The state level Conference was inaugurated on 13th
December 2017 bySmt.
JashubenPatidarEx. Registrar, GNC. At the commencement of the programme, Ms. Priyal
Patel, Master of Ceremony, welcomed the Chief Guest and Guest of Honor. Dr. Ravindra H.
N., Principal of Sumandeep Nursing College introduced the Resource persons who presented
the overview of the state level Conference.
"The pursuit of perfection, then, is the pursuit of sweetness and light."
The session commenced at 9 am with prayer song by 3rd
yr B.Sc Nursing students and all the
respected dignitaries did formal inauguration by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
UNVEILING THE THEME:
Chief Guest Smt. JashubenPatidar madam and Dr. Manoj Sattegirithrew some light on role of nurse
midwives and congratulated the organizers for organizing such a wonderful conference which can
enlighten nursing students/ faculty around the state.
KEY NOTE ADRESS:
Key note address was given by Lt. Col Shobha Naidu (Retd.) on the conference theme
“midwives, mothers and families: partners for life!” She gave on hand information regarding
role of midwives and how parent and other family members can participate in bringing up the
child and thus become partners for life.
INAUGURAL THANKS:
Mrs. Vrutti Patel, HOD of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Sumandeep Nursing College, gave
her vote of inaugural thanks to the chief guest and all the guest of honors, resource person,
chairpersons.
POSTER PRESENTATION:
Poster presentation commenced on 10:00 am and the students from various colleges
presented poster on the theme of state level conference.Ms. Baby Shobana, MTI of Nursing
Changa bagged the first prize in poster presentation. Ms. RuchiPatelMTI of Nursing Changa
bagged the Second prize in poster presentation .
SCIENTIFIC SESSION:
Mr. Suresh V. HOD of Mental Health Nursing in Sumandeep Nursing College introduced the
chairpersonSmt. JashubenPatidarfor the first session. Thereby the chairperson introduced
the resource person for the first session.
SESSION I

Specialty : Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing
Post Graduate (PG) teaching experience: 20 year, published research papers in International
and National Journals.
Scientific session was started at 10:15 am. By Dr. Kavitha N. and was concluded at
11:15am. Madam gave talk on “Addressing the risk pregnancies, Role of Midwife,
Mother and Family.” Madam discussed regarding High risk approach, its consequences, key
aspects, and major role of midwifes in the care of high risk mother, Importance of family
support in the care of pregnant mother.The session was chaired by Smt. JashubenPatidar.
After the completion of the session the session was open for discussion and clearing the
queries.
At the end of the session Dr. Kavitha N. was honored by memento & certificate by the
Chairperson. Chairperson Smt. JashubenPatidarwas also honored with memento &
certificate.
SESSION II
Mr. Kevin Christian Assistant Professor of Medical Surgical Health Nursing in Sumandeep Nursing
College, introduced the chairpersonLt. Col. ShobhaNaidufor the second scientific session. Thereby
the chairperson introduced the resource persons for the session.

Second scientific session was commenced at 11:15 am. byMrs. Falguni Modi.
Session was concluded at 12:15 am. Mam conferred about “Focus on Prevention of
Maternal Mortality”. Madam discussed about preventive Measures during antenatal,
intranatal and postnatal period, Aspect of midwifery and emergency Obstetrics care. The
session was chaired by Lt. Col. Shobha Naidu, Director of Symbiosis College of Nursing,
Pune.
At the end of the session Mrs. Falguni Modi was honored with memento by the chairperson
of the session.Chairperson was also honored with memento & certificate.
PAPER PRESENTATION:
Mr. Swamy PGN, HOD of Community Health Nursing had introduced the
moderators and Mrs. Nirmal Raj introduced all the participants for the scientific paper
presentation of the conference.
Paper presentation is a technical event where the volunteers were asked to present a
paper on their research studies which was organized by Sumandeep nursing college. This
conference has given a useful learning platform for students, faculties and emerging
researchers. A lot of new ideas worth undertaking further research came to the notice of the
participants.

Effectiveness of Self Instructional Module on Knowledge Regarding HPV. She
bagged the second prize in paper presentation.
Ms. BhavsarHetal A. has participated in Paper Presentation on “A Study to Assess
the Effectiveness of Massage Therapy on Pain and Anxiety during Labor in Intranatal
Period among Primigravida Mothers in Selected Government Hospitals of Gujarat
State.” She bagged the first prize in paper presentation.
Ms. Noojhad M. Pathan has participated in Paper Presentation on “A Study to Assess
the Effectiveness of Planned Teaching Programme on Knowledge Regarding
Importance of Folic Acid Supplements in the Prevention of Neural Tube Defects
among Early Adulthood Girls in Selected College of Vadodara.”
Ms. Priyanka R. Waghmare has participated in Paper Presentation on “Effectiveness
of Health Teaching Programme on Knowledge and Attitude Regarding Exclusive
Breast Feeding among Primigravida Mothers Belongs to Waghodiya, Attending
Dhiraj Hospital Piparia Vadodara.”
Mrs. Bhumika Patel presented scientific paper on “A study to assess the
effectiveness of planned teaching programme on knowledge regarding selected
postnatal complications among postnatal women of selected Hospitals at Vadodara
district.
By the end of Sessionthere was lunch break from 1:00 to 2.00 PM. Delicious lunch
was served at aroma hospitality to the guest, all the respected guests of honor, and all
the delegates.
SESSION III
Mr.Nirmal Raj. HOD of Child Health Nursing in Sumandeep Nursing College, introduced the
chairpersonProf. Pratima Mali for the third scientific session. Thereby the chairperson introduced
the resource persons for the session.

Third scientific session commenced at 02:00 pm. by Mrs. Raksha Parmar and was
concluded at 2:45 p.m. Madam spoke regarding “Psychological and social aspect of
pregnancy, child birth and early parenting scope of counseling in midwifery.” Madam
focused on the psychological aspect and support of families during the care of pregnant
mother.
The session was chaired by Prof. Pratima Mali. Mrs. Raksha Parmar was honored
with Memento and certificate at the end of the session. The chairperson was also honored
with memento.
SESSION OF GUEST SPEAKER:
Mr. Kevin Christian Assistant Professor of Medical Surgical Health Nursing in Sumandeep Nursing
College, introduced the guest speakerMrs. Maheshwari Patel, Nurse Practitioner, Bodeli CHC
Session of guest speaker commenced at 2:45 pm. By Mrs. Maheshwari Patel and was
concluded at 03:15 p.m. Mrs. Maheshwari Patel shared her experience, working as a Nurse
Practitioner and responsibilities of nurse as a Midwife at CHC. Guest Speaker was honored
with Memento and certificate at the end of the session.
SESSION IV
Mr. Rajesh Joseph, Assistant professor of Child Health Nursing, introduced the chairpersonsDr.
Ravindra H. N. for the scientific session. Thereby the chairperson introduced the resource person
for the session.

based approach” Mam focused on the technological advancement and prevention of high
risk mother with the evidence based approach in midwifery. The session was chaired by Dr.
Ravindra H. N. Mrs. Varsha Sharma was honored with Memento and certificate at the end
of the session. The chairperson was also honored by memento and certificate.
VALEDICTORY SESSION:
The valedictory session was introduced by Mrs.BhumikaPatel. Valedictory session
commenced at 4:00 p.m. and had been concluded at 4:30p.m.All the paper and poster
presenters, delegates in the conference were honored with certificates as token of
appreciation by the chair person.
VOTE OF THANKS:
Mrs. Vrutti Patel, HOD of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Sumandeep Nursing
