    Quantitative Aptitude #19

    Then, B = x + 5000 and A = x + 5000 + 4000 = x + 9000. So, x + x +5000 + x + 9000 = 50000

    3x = 36000x = 12000A : B : C = 21000 : 17000 : 12000 = 21 : 17 : 12.

    Rs.

    A'sshare = 35000 x

    21= Rs. 14,700. 50

    5. Three partners shared the profit in a business in the ratio 5 : 7 : 8. They had partnered for 14 months, 8 months and 7 months respectively. What was the ratio of their investments?

    A. 5 : 7 : 8 B.20 : 49 : 64C.38 : 28 : 21 D. None of these

    Answer: Option BExplanation:Let their investments be Rs. x for 14 months, Rs. y for 8 months and Rs. z for 7 months respectively.Then, 14x : 8y : 7z = 5 : 7 : 8.

    Now,14x=5 98x = 40y y =49x8y 7 20

    And,14x=5 112x = 35z z =112x =16x.7z 8 35 5

    1. e sum of three consecutive odd numbers is always divisible by:I. 2 II. 3 III. 5 IV. 6a. Only I b. Only II c. Only I and II d. Only II and IV

    2.  e least number which must be subtracted from 6709 to make it exactly divisible by 9 is:a. 2 b. 3 c. 4 d. 5

    3.  e least number by which 72 must be multiplied in order to produce a multiple of 112, is:a. 6 b. 12 c. 14 d. 18

    4. On dividing a number by 999, the quotient is 366 and the remainder is 103.  e number is:a. 364724 b. 365387 c. 365737 d. 366757

    5. When a number is divided by 31, the remainder is 29. When the same number is divided by 16, what will be the remainder?a. 11 b. 13 c. 15 d. Data inadequate

    6. A number when divided by 6 leaves a remainder 3. When the square of the same number is divided by 6, the remainder is:a. 0 b. 1 c. 2 d. 3

    7. If x is a whole number, then x2(x2-1) is always divisible by:a. 12 b. 24 c. 12-x d. multiple of 12

    8. A number when divided successively in order by 4, 5 and 6.  e remainders were respectively 2, 3 and 4.  e number is:a. 214 b. 476 c. 954 d. 1908

    9. A number when divided by 3 leaves a remainder 1. When the quotient is divided by 2, it leaves a remainder 1. What will be the remainder when the number is divided by 6?a. 2 b. 3 c. 4 d. 5

    10. A number when divided b the sum of 555 and 445 gives two times their di erence as quotient and 30 as the remainder.  e number is:a. 1220 b. 1250 c. 2 2030 d. 22030

    1. Ans: bLet the three consecutive odd numbers be (2x+1), (2x+3) and (2x+5).  eir sum = (6x=9)= 3 (2x+3), which is always divisible by 3.2. Ans: c.On dividing 6709 by 9, we get remainder= 4 erefore, required number to be subtracted= 43. Ans: cRequired number is divisible by 72 as well as by 112, if it is divisible by their LCM, which is 1008.Now, 1008 when divided by 72, gives quotient= 14. erefore, required number= 14.4. Ans: c.Required number= 999*366+103= (1000-1)*366+103= 366000-366+103= 365737.5. Ans: dNumber= (31 * Q)+ 29. Given data is inadequate.6. Ans: dLet x=6q+3.  en, x2= (6q+3)2= 36q2+36q+9= 6(6q2+6q+1)+3.So, when 2n is divided by 4, remainder =3.7. Ans: aPutting x=2, we get 22(22-1)= 12. So, x2(x2-1) is always divisible by 12.8. Ans: a Z= 6*1 +4= 10.Y= 5z+3= 53X= 4y+2= 214.9. Ans: cLet n=3q+1 and let q= 2p+1.  en, n= 3(2p+1)+1= 6p+4 erefore, the number when divided by 6, we get remainder= 410. Ans: dRequired number = (555+445)*2*110+30 = 220000+30= 220030.
