Ovary• it’s a part of female reproductive system.• Pear in shape• The ovaries have two functions -
"production" and ovulation of oocytes and the production and secretion of hormones.
Structure of Ovary• Connected to the
mesenteries by hilum• Surrounded by
peritoneal epithelium (simple squamous epithelium)
• Lined with germinal epithelium
Have different stages of Graafian Follicle: • oogonia, • primary oocyte, • secondary oocyte, • mature ovum in the
Graafian Follicle)
• Have Corpus luteum (the remnant tissues after discharging of mature ovum and secrete some hormones the beginning of the pregnancy for its stability)
Testis
- It is part of male reproductive system- Its a gland where sperms and male hormones
( testosterone) are produce.
The structure of testis
Each testis is covered by a layer of white fibrous connective tissue called tunica albuginea.The testis is formed of seminiferous tubules, interstitial cells and blood vessels.
The seminiferous tubules are long and coiled tubes. Contain of these types of cells:
1. spermatogenic cells. 2. Primay spermatocyte3. Secondary
spermatocyte4. Spermatids5. Spermatozoa6. Sertoli cells:Found in between the different stages of maturation of sperm for nutrition and support
