RESEARCH INTO GENRE

ED SHEERAN – MUSIC GENRE Ed Sheeran is an extremely talented artist, and is able to incorporate a wide range of genres into his music such as Indie, Pop, Grime, Rap, Hip-Hop and Rock. The song that I am using for my music video is Autumn Leaves. This song in particular has a more alternative indie vibe.

INDIE MUSIC•Independent music (indie) is music produced independently from major commercial record labels or their subsidiaries, a process that may include a do-it-yourself approach to recording and publishing. The term indie is sometimes also used to describe a genre (such as indie rock, indie folk or indie pop); as a genre term, "indie" may include music that is not independently produced, and most independent music artists do not fall into a single, defined musical style or genre and usually create music that can be categorized into other genres.

•Indie music isn’t a definite style of music, but most indie bands are influenced by each other causing a similar sound. The sound is melodic, the instruments are simple but well textured. Usually includes a simple but original guitar riff, another guitar riff layered to complement it, bass doing the same, simple drum beat (but fitting the song well) either a keyboard or violin or something to bring out the underlying melody, and soft vocals, usually well harmonized. the lyrics are powerfully emotional and often spark emotion.
