What Can We Do for You Now That We Couldn’t Do Last Year Brian Storrie, Ph.D. Core Director
Brian Storrie - Professor of Physiology & Biophysics, Director of Imaging Core High sensitivity confocal microscopy
GaSP detectors, more sensitivity, 2 ch, 3rd spectral AiryScan detector, even more sensitivity
Simple super res fluorescence With AiryScan confocal
1.7x improvement in X and Y resolution, 2.9x overall Fast processing, <1 min Little need to learn new things, few new steps
9/6/2016 3
High Level Super Res Imaging with Zeiss Elyra PS.1 50-100 nm Super Resolution
3 Dimensional Structured Illumination (100 nm resolution) 2-fold improvement in resolution XYZ, 8-fold overall Existing dyes, slow collection, slow calculation
Better than 50 nm resolution With dSTORM/PALM
Images in TIRF space, automated TIRF built-in New dyes, limited antibody choices, new steps to learn Very slow image capture, long calculation 9/6/2016

AAHRPP Update Jennifer Holland, JD, IRB Director
AAHRPP Reaccreditation Site Visit occurred on May 23-25.
The Council will meet on Monday, September 19th to review the site visit and our response.
We should be notified of the Council decision by the end of that week.
Findings Improvement activities to assess compliance and
effectiveness of the HRPP needs to be formalized.
Serious and continuing non-compliance should be reported within policy timeframe.
IRB reviewers and chair should be provided feedback regarding their annual evaluations.
IRB discussions and decisions need to be more thoroughly documented.
