BOARD OF EDUCATION MONTGOMERY COUNTY, OHIO

AUGUST 28, 2020

A RESOLUTION TO APPROVE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDINGS

REGARDING TEMPORARY FURLOUGHS OF EMPLOYEES DURING THE REMOTE LEARNING PERIOD

WHEREAS, due to the continued effects of the Coronavirus, the Board of Education has

implemented a plan for remote learning during the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year; and

WHEREAS, as a result of remote learning, there is a lack of work resulting in the need

for the District to reduce its workforce; and WHEREAS, the Board of Education desires to approve Memorandums of Understanding

to implement temporary furloughs for certain employees in the following bargaining units: (1) the Ohio Association of Public School Employees, Clerical Chapter #158; and (2) the Ohio Association of Public School Employees, Transportation Local #627; and

WHEREAS, the Furloughed Employees will be furloughed effective September 8, 2020.

During the term of the furlough, Furloughed Employees will not work or receive pay, except Furloughed Employees may exhaust or use any accrued and unused paid vacation and personal leave. The District will pay 100% of the employee contribution to health insurance premiums for Furloughed Employees during the furlough.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Dayton Public Schools Board of

Education hereby approves the Memorandums of Understanding between the District and OAPSE Clerical Chapter #158 and Transportation Local #627, which are attached as Exhibits A and B.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Superintendent is directed to provide written notification of this action to the Furloughed Employees and to take all actions as are necessary or appropriate to implement the Memorandums of Understanding.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that it is found and determined that all formal actions

of this Board concerning and relating to the adoption of this Resolution were adopted in an open

meeting of this Board, and that all deliberations of this Board and of any of its committees that resulted in these formal actions were in meetings open to the public and in compliance with the law.
