A MESSAGE FROM LUCY

What a wonderful start we have had to Term 2! It was lovely to see how many of our students attended the community ANZAC service last week. Participation in community events is a real strength of our school community, and the ANZAC commemoration was no exception!

The community ANZAC service was well attended by our students, who showed a great deal of respect and focus during the service. A particular thank you goes to Abbey, Jack, Andie and Will who were outstanding leaders and great representatives of our school, laying the wreath at the cenotaph (Jack, Andie and Will) and delivering the Prayer for the Nation (Abbey). Thank you also to Zoe Parsons and Cadynn Smart, who laid a wreath on behalf of CPS at the service in Stockinbingal.

MOTHER'S DAY

Mother’s Day is fast approaching, and I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our special mothers, step mothers, grandmothers and carers a Happy Mother’s Day! We hope you are spoilt and pampered by your loved ones!

MULTICULTURAL PUBLIC SPEAKING

Congratulations to our Multicultural Public Speaking finalists who have been selected to represent CPS at the local finals of the competition. I would like to commend all competitors from the school level competition for their preparation and hard work in developing some thought provoking speeches. Thank you to Mrs Pavert for her organisation of this event – we appreciate you putting in extra time to make this such a well-run event.

Mrs Pavert was pleased to announce the following winners who will represent CPS at the next round of competition:

Stage 2 - Willow Hall and Josh Lubke

Stage 3 - Emily Crawford and Jack Randall

NEW DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION

This term, the Department of Education has shifted some of the boundaries of local school networks. While the old Cootamundra Network extended from Binalong to Junee, new network areas will be smaller to ensure that directors can work closely with schools on a more regular basis. Cootamundra Public School will now work alongside schools with the Temora, Young, Grenfell and Cootamundra areas.

STRATEGIC DIRECTION 1

Excellence in Learning

I was pleased to meet Carolyn Merchant this week who will be the director of this new local network. Staff at CPS are looking forward to working with Carolyn as she supports us to deliver great learning experiences for students. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our previous director Jenene McGrath, who provided a great deal of support to me, our school and staff. Jenene will now be focused on supporting schools in the Wagga Wagga area.

CONGRATULATIONS MRS POOLE!

CPS is abuzz with the exciting news that Mrs Poole is expecting her first child! Mrs Poole and her husband Tom are looking forward to welcoming their precious bundle in September. Congratulations we are so excited for you!
