RESTORATION OF TABERNACLE OF DAVID:

I. KEY PASSAGES: Three scriptural promises for restoration of tabernacle of David: Isa 16:5, Amos 9:11-12; Acts 15:16-17. A) Isaiah 16:5 “In mercy the throne will be established;

And One will sit on it in truth, in the tabernacle of David, Judging and seeking justice and hastening righteousness.”

B) Acts 15:16.17 16 ‘ After this I will return

And will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down;

I will rebuild its ruins,

And I will set it up;

17 So that the rest of mankind may seek the LORD,

Even all the Gentiles who are called by My name,

Says the LORD who does all these things.’[b]

i) Acts 15:16, 17 is quoted from Amos 9:11

C) Context of Acts 15:

i) In Acts 15 certain men are trying to figure out whether or not the people should be

circumcised, especially the Gentiles, since the Gentiles are now receiving the gospel

message (you see this in 15:1).

(1) “And certain men came down from Judea and taught the brethren, unless you

become circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved…”

“After much dispute,” in verse 7, “Peter rose up and said to them, ‘Men and

brethren, you know that a good while ago you chose among us that by my

mouth the gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe. So God who

knows the heart, acknowledge them, by giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He

did to us, and made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts

by faith.’ Afterward they asked them, ‘why should we put a yolk on the neck of

these people, which neither out fathers nor we were able to bear?” So finally

they were able to bring up James in verse 13, “and after they have become

silent, James answered saying, ‘Men and brethren, listen to me. Simon has

declared how God at first visited the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for

His name, and with this the words of the prophets agree, just as it is written,

‘After this I will return and will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which has fallen

down. I will rebuild its ruins and I will set it up, so that the rest of mankind may

seek the Lord, even all the Gentiles who are called by my name, says the Lord,

who does all these things.’”

ii) So it is written in the context of the certain men asking whether or not the yoke

should be placed on the Gentiles for them to be circumcised so they can be officially

be a part of the Body of Christ. They are saying that they cannot be a part of the

body of Christ unless they are taught the customs of circumcision, which is to get the

form of having the circumcision of the heart.

iii) But the apostles Peter and James introduced them to the knowledge of God by

saying that physical circumcision is not necessary because the thing that will set the

Gentiles to be a part of the intention of the cultural practice among the Jews is the

circumcision of the heart or to be able to seek the Lord wholeheartedly in Acts

15:17, which the James re-iterated from Amos 9:11.

II. WHY IS IT THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID?

A) Why is it the tabernacle of David that is being restored, instead of the tabernacle of

Moses? This is a good question to ask because there are two primary tabernacles that

were built in the Old Testament.

i) We are not going to talk about Solomon’s temple, because Solomon got the blueprint from David on how to build the temple and also Acts 15:16 tells us it is the restoration of the tabernacle of David not Solomon. So we will focus on speaking about the tabernacle of David and also the tabernacle of Moses, and the difference between the two.

ii) The tabernacle of David is very interesting because it had 2 tribes working in there:

Judah and Levi.

(1) I believe the tabernacle of David represented the new covenant in what God

was going to do, were He was going to be seated, and where God was going to

come from.

(2) Tabernacle of Moses represented the Law:

(a) He was not going to come from the tribe of Levi, which was what the

tabernacle of Moses was established. The Tabernacle of Moses represented

the Law, you can see this all over the place. Some of the passages include

Mal 4 & 1 King 2:3- with the phrase “the Law of Moses” which is used a lot to

refer to Moses. Another passage, 2 Kings 14:6- the book of the Law of Moses.

Act 13:39 -Law of Moses. Act 15:5- Law of Moses.

(b) The tabernacle of Moses reference much to the Law, because the Law was given to Moses from God Himself, and Moses passed it along to the Israelites. This is interesting because when you study about the Levites, you will find that they worked within the tabernacle of Moses; That is where they did all the sin offerings and had to do it a certain way. If they did it wrong or did something they were not suppose to do, they would get killed instantaneously because the presence of God would completely kill them. However, the tabernacle of David was different; it wasn’t regulated as much as the tabernacle of Moses. And something about David, he came from the

Page 3: RESTORATION OF TABERNACLE OF DAVID OF...1. Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 2. Ephesians 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the

tribe of Judah. Judah is where you get all the royal lineage of all the kings including David and Jesus Christ.

(3) The tabernacle of David represented Love because it was out of the heart of worship rather than obligation. (a) Love goes the extra mile and beyond the command.

(i) David did what God told him to do. 1. 11 “Then David gave his son Solomon the plans for the vestibule, its

houses, its treasuries, its upper chambers, its inner chambers, and the place of the mercy seat; 12 and the plans for all that he had by the Spirit, of the courts of the house of the LORD, of all the chambers all around, of the treasuries of the house of God, and of the treasuries for the dedicated things; 13 also for the division of the priests and the Levites, for all the work of the service of the house of the LORD, and for all the articles of service in the house of the LORD.” (1 Chron 28)

(ii) But David also went the extra mile and went beyond what God told him to do because of his affections to the Lord: 1. 3 “Moreover, because I have set my affection on the house of my

God, I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house, my own special treasure of gold and silver” (1 Chron 29)

(b) David’s affection and worship before the Lord affected all of the leaders around him to surrender more. (i) 6 “Then the leaders of the fathers’ houses, leaders of the tribes of Israel,

the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the officers over the king’s work, offered willingly.” (1 Chron 29)

(c) The result of a ministry done in love is JOY!! (i) 9 “Then the people rejoiced, for they had offered willingly, because with

a loyal heart they had offered willingly to the LORD; and King David also rejoiced greatly.” (1 Chron 29)

III. LEVI IS A REPRESENTATION OF THE LAW VS. JUDAH IS A REPRESENTATION OF ROYALTY &

PRAISE

A) To better understand the roles and the root of who David and Moses are, we need to learn about Levi and Judah (David came from the line of Judah). i) In Gen. 29:31-35, Leah gave birth to 4 children. The first child’s name meant ‘See’

(Reuben), the 2nd child meant ‘Hear’ (Simeon), the 3rd meant ‘Attached’ (Levi), but the 4th meant ‘Praise’ (Judah). (1) The first 3 children’s names came from a response of Leah’s desire for her

husband to be closer to her. It came from complete brokenness where she desired not to be hated (Gen 29:31; “unloved” = “hated”). However, finally all of her efforts came to no fruition. So finally on the 4th child, she made a decision in her life, “I will praise the Lord.” Praise came from a place of complete brokenness, where there was absolutely no good reason to praise God except

Page 4: RESTORATION OF TABERNACLE OF DAVID OF...1. Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 2. Ephesians 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the

only because of who He says He is; Praise is a testimony of God’s truth. Every circumstance around her was completely broken. However, it was a pure decision in her heart to say ‘God I will praise you for who you are, and who you say you are.’

(2) The 4th child represented prophetically of what God wanted to do, and what His plans are for the earth, which is for the people to worship him because of the revelation of the goodness of God in the midst of a broken world.

(3) You can see the names of the children as an image of what God wants to do in our lives. The names represent a relationship between us and God and the transformation that takes place each step of the way in the Church and all of its history from past, present, and future. (a) The 1st child, “SEE,” can be likened to the passage in Ezekiel 16

(i) 6 “And when I passed by you and saw you struggling in your own blood, I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ Yes, I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ 7 I made you thrive like a plant in the field; and you grew, matured, and became very beautiful. Your breasts were formed, your hair grew, but you were naked and bare. 8 “When I passed by you again and looked upon you, indeed your time was the time of love; so I spread My wing over you and covered your nakedness. Yes, I swore an oath to you and entered into a covenant with you, and you became Mine,” says the Lord GOD.”

(ii) The passage can also be likened to the vision of Jesus Christ as He went to the cross as He has already made a covenant that we shall belong to Him. (Hebrews 12:2)

(b) The next name, “HEAR,” can be likened to when God begins to lavish His words to us. (i) How can people hear and have faith in God, unless they here the gospel

message preached to them. 1. Romans 10:17

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 2. Ephesians 1:13 “In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of

truth, the gospel of your salvation…” (c) The next name meaning “ATTACHED” (Levi), represents when the Holy Spirit

dwelled in the midst of the people and lived among the children of Israel through faith. You see this all throughout the Old Testament where the Spirit of God would come upon certain men and women of God (Judges 14:6, Judges 6:34, 1 Sam 16:13, etc.). This was possible because there was a sacrifice for sin through obedience to the Lord and the Levites performing the duties of the atonement for sins by killing of the animals. (i) The word “attached” does not speak of completion or a oneness but a

connection where something is only joined with another. (d) Finally, PRAISE: Praise speaks about how God does not just wants to be able

to dwell among us, but He wants to come into our hearts, and come into our lives and make His dwelling place in us instead of just being among us. Praise

Page 5: RESTORATION OF TABERNACLE OF DAVID OF...1. Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 2. Ephesians 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the

will be the aspect of the believer that will last for eternity when we see Him face to face and live in His temple or in Him (Revelation 11:19, 21:22). God’s truth and His Word will be declared for all eternity through our praise. (i) Luke 17:21

nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.”

(ii) 1 Corinthians 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one’s praise will come from God.

(iii) Hebrews 13:15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.

(iv) 1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

(v) So when God asked David, “David will you build me a house,” you find that it was the intention of the Lord, ‘My intention is to build David a house, because no man can build me a house. Only my own hands can build myself a house.” The only thing that is worthy that will be able to bring praise to Him is the one that He himself has formed in His image. The way praise was going to be perfected is by putting the Word, Jesus Christ, or God himself, in our hearts to proclaim back His truth. This is a process summarized in a believer’s life where praise comes from Him.

B) In summary, the Levites represented the law while Judah represented a people that

have been purchased by the King to proclaim His praise. The people belonging to the

tribe of Judah represent royalty or the kingly type like David. The people belonging to

the tribe of Levites represent the working of the Law to establish what righteousness

or holiness looks like first before we understand what praise means (Judah). People

who want to have a lifestyle of praise cannot actually be able to worship God unless

we ourselves have clean hands and a pure heart. God did not come to abolish the Law

but He came to fulfill the Law.

i) “3 Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD?

Or who may stand in His holy place?

4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,

Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol,

Nor sworn deceitfully.”

IV. THE PROPHETS, THE LEVITES, AND THE ROYAL PRIESTHOOD FOR A NEW COVENANT OF

LOVE

A) INTRODUCING THE KINGDOM/TEMPLE OF GOD:

B) THE SPIRITUAL MEANING OF THE APPEARANCE OF MOSES AND ELIJAH WITH JESUS

AND ITS SIGNIFICANCE TO THE FULFILLMENT OF THE PROPHETS & THE LAW: i) Matt 17:1-27 are very interesting passages because verse 1-13 speaks about the

appearance of Moses and Elijah before Jesus on a HIGH mountain. This is very interesting because in verse 4 Peter said, ‘Lord it is very good for us to be here. If you wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” The reason why they said this was because they were thinking that the scribes have been telling them that Elijah the prophet needs to come first, before the coming of the Lord. But it says, “But while Peter was still speaking, behold a bright cloud overshadowed them, and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud and said to them, ‘This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Here Him.” This authority and this command came from heaven saying that this is the one I want you to listen to. “When the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid. But Jesus came and touched them and said, ‘Arise, and do not be afraid.

Page 7: RESTORATION OF TABERNACLE OF DAVID OF...1. Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 2. Ephesians 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the

When they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.” As they came down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them saying, “Tell the vision to no one, until the Son of Man is risen from the dead.” (1) This is a very interesting passage because I believe these passages are the

fulfillment of the prophecy in Malachi. This is why the scribes actually thought that Elijah is going to be sent before the dreadful day of the Lord, before Jesus is going to come, who is their Savior. The Father knowing that, I believe orchestrated the vision of Moses and Elijah so that we can understand Jesus’ role in the fulfillment of the Law and Prophets. (a) Malachi 4:4-6 says, “Remember the Law of Moses my servants, which I

commanded him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgements.” (Again, Moses is completely tied in with the law, and then we have the disciples in Matthew wanting to make the tabernacle for Moses again). “Behold I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. And He will turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and struck the earth with a curse.” (i) When they read this, they were thinking that Elijah was going to come

again, but this is not true because Elijah has already been sent and he died and went to be with the Lord; he has already been there, it has passed already. This was speaking about the spirit of Elijah, coming upon John the Baptist. So that is why it says in Matthew 17:10-13: “And His disciples asked Him, saying, ‘Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?’ Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Indeed, Elijah is coming first and will restore all things. But I say to you that Elijah has come already, and they did not know him but did to him whatever they wished. Likewise the Son of Man is also about to suffer at their hands.’ Then the disciples understood that He spoke to them of John the Baptist.”

(ii) You can see this verse corresponding to Luke 1:17 where an angel came to Zacharias (John the Baptist’s father) and said to him that his son is going to be anointed with the spirit of Elijah, that he will be a voice in the wilderness basically preparing the way for the Lord; and that’s exactly what John the Baptist did.

(iii) The reason why it mentions Moses and then finally mentioned about the spirit of Elijah coming upon John the Baptist is because it is equating the tabernacle of Moses to the Law, while equating the spirit of Elijah that was upon John the Baptist to the Prophets.

(iv) So when Jesus came, he came not to abolish the law, but to fulfill the law. He not only came for this, but also to establish the new covenant as well by the shedding of His blood. Once Jesus sheds his blood and is risen from the dead (Matthew 17:9), then the prophetic words would be fulfilled of the risen King (from the line of the tribe of Judah) and also the law will be fulfilled because of the sacrifice of the blood. That is why there’s this whole transfiguration on the mount with Elijah and Moses.

Page 8: RESTORATION OF TABERNACLE OF DAVID OF...1. Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 2. Ephesians 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the

That’s why Jesus says in Matthew 17:9 to not tell anyone until the son of man is risen from the dead. So this is proof that He has destroyed death, and he has also fulfilled the law and the prophets by establishing the NEW COVENANT OF LOVE.

C) THE NEW COVENANT OF LOVE THROUGH THE BAPTISM OF FIRE/HOLY SPIRIT:

i) Matt 3:11 spoke about John the Baptist in comparison to Jesus: “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance…”(so this is representation of what the law looks like for those who are under the law where the Holy Spirit comes to “convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 of sin, because they do not believe in [Him]; 10 of righteousness, because [He] went to [His] Father and [we] see [Him] no more; 11 of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.) “But He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I’m not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” (1) Jesus came for the very reason of establishing the new covenant, so that way the

Holy Spirit, the Father, and the Son, can finally be within people. It wasn’t just His desire to have the law attached to us on the surface, but he wanted to bring it into our hearts and in our mind. (a) That is why it says in Hebrews 10:16- “This is the covenant that I will make

with them after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them.”

(b) So basically the law and the prophets were all working together, to bring a testimony of God and to purify the believers. The Prophets (Elijah and John the Baptist) and the Law were the preparation for the Fire of the Holy Spirit; they prepared the way of the Lord like how Elijah and John the Baptist worked with water (Elijah’s examples: 2 Kings 2:8, 2 Kings 2:14, 2 Kings 3:11 ““Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah;” John the Baptist’s examples: Acts 11:16 “Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said, ‘John indeed baptized withwater, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’’). (i) Without the law, people would not know that they need a savior.

Without the prophetic voice, people wouldn’t know how God was going to come. So Jesus came to fulfill the laws and the prophets.

(c) So he established the new covenant which can be found in Matthew 22 “This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” (i) So God is going to establish the new covenant and wrap it up in these

two commandments. (ii) This means that when you walk in love, you will fulfill the law and you

fulfill what the prophets were trying to speak to you which was to Love the Lord. Love will go the extra mile and Love will do things beyond the mere obligation where that choice is a joy.

Page 9: RESTORATION OF TABERNACLE OF DAVID OF...1. Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 2. Ephesians 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the

ii) One more passage in Luke 16:16, “The law and the prophets were until John. Since that time the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it.” The law and the prophets came all the way until John; John was the last key one of those belonging to the previous covenant. (1) After John came Jesus, and Jesus was doing things to prepare for the new

covenant to be established and for the baptism of fire. When we live a lifestyle of being filled with the Holy Spirit, we will also fulfill the Great Command of Love.

(2) In summary, again, the Levites (which worked with the Law) worked in the tabernacle of Moses, and John the Baptist prophetically symbolized the voice of the Prophets. So when you study about the tabernacle of David, it had two tribes working in it: the tribe of Levites and the tribe of Judah. That’s why the Tabernacle of David had the tribe of Levites there (who represent the law), and then the tribe of Judah (which is the tribe that Jesus comes through). Therefore, the establishment of the tabernacle of David includes the fulfillment of the Law and the prophets (keeping the law) through Love. (a) It is the mergence of the Law and the Prophets with that of Love that results

from Praise (Judah). We are the royal priesthood. (i) We are royal because we are in the Lord, who came from the line of

David or the tribe of Judah. (ii) We are a priesthood because we are in the Lord, who is a

High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. (iii) We will proclaim God’s love and His Praise (Judah) because He is Love.

Praise is a choice that a believer makes to proclaim His truth. So this is speaking about the restoration of the tabernacle of David, and you will understand why the tabernacle of David had an order of worship central to the Kingdom of God.

iii) In summary, the spirit of the Tabernacle of David is everything about the Kingdom of God where all the people walk in their callings as a result of Love. The lifestyle of prayer and worship is central to the tabernacle of David because one who loves well will pray and worship corporately and individually. It looks like when the Body of Christ not just pray and worship in one confined location but it is a lifestyle where it is a reality in your heart where the Church walk in their callings and Love well. (1) It is a popular belief right now that the spiritual line of the Levites that continue

today are intercessors, but I believe that God came to establish a royal priesthood ultimately where everyone will be intercessors like He is to us. I believe that everyone is called to the lifestyle of prayer to be able to function in His calling in His Body.

Page 10: RESTORATION OF TABERNACLE OF DAVID OF...1. Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 2. Ephesians 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the

V. QUICK INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID: A) Something about the tabernacle was that there was 24/7 perpetual worship.

i) The people were going to know who God is in the context of prayer and worship. B) David ate from the showbread and did not die (Matt 12:3-4). C) David put on the clothes of the priest and so he became a representation of a royal

priest. i) “27 David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who bore

the ark, the singers, and Chenaniah the music master with the singers. David also wore a linen ephod. 28 Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting and with the sound of the horn, with trumpets and with cymbals, making music with stringed instruments and harps.” (1 Chron 15)

D) Another interesting thing is that there was this guy named Obed-Edom, a Gittite from the city of Gath, which is actually a Philistine city in a Gentile nation (2 Samuel 6:10, 1 Chron 15:18, 21). i) He was the gatekeeper of the tabernacle of David (1 Chron 15:18)

(1) He received the lot for the South Gate (1 Chron 26:15) and his sons received the lot for the storehouse.

ii) He directed with harps (1 Chron 15:21), iii) He was the doorkeeper of the ark (1 Chron 15:24). iv) SUMMARY: This is amazing because this shows God’s intentions and desire for the

gospel message to be preached to the Gentiles and also for the Gentile-nations to come within the presence of God and seek His face. This is the fulfillment of where it says in Acts 15:16,17 to have the Gentiles to be a part of the worship and service of God in His Kingdom.

VI. THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID OCCURRED A RESULT OF LOVE & WORSHIP: A) David had a tent pitched up that had perpetual or continuous worship that was the

tabernacle of David (1 Chron 17:1):

i) 4 And he appointed some of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, to

commemorate, to thank, and to praise the LORD God of Israel: 5 Asaph the chief,

and next to him Zechariah, then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab,

Benaiah, and Obed-Edom: Jeiel with stringed instruments and harps, but Asaph

made music with cymbals; 6 Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests regularly blew the

trumpets before the ark of the covenant of God. (1 Chron 16)

ii) 37 So he left Asaph and his brothers there before the ark of the covenant of the

LORD to minister before the ark regularly (continuously; perpetually; H8548 -

tamiyd), as every day’s work required; 38 and Obed-Edom with his sixty-eight

brethren, including Obed-Edom the son of Jeduthun, and Hosah, to

be gatekeepers; (1 Chron 16)

B) Afterward, God gave the revelations to David in how to prepare Him a house that will have perpetual worship and prayer that his son will build and establish (1 Chron 17:11-

Page 11: RESTORATION OF TABERNACLE OF DAVID OF...1. Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 2. Ephesians 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the

14; 1 Chron 22:5; 1 Chron 28:12) during his very old age because God basically loved what David was doing. Out of the place of David’s love for the Lord, God established a prophetic word that would bless David greatly. God gave a prophetic word to David concerning one that will be of His seed where His kingdom will last forever, which is speaking of Solomon but ultimately Jesus Christ is the one who will fulfill it to eternity where God’s throne will be established forever (Ps 45:6, Isa 9:7, Lament 5:19,etc.). i) “ Furthermore I tell you that the LORD will build you a house.[a] 11 And it shall be,

when your days are fulfilled, when you must go to be with your fathers, that I will set up your seed after you, who will be of your sons; and I will establish his kingdom. 12 He shall build Me a house, and I will establish his throne forever. 13 I will be his Father, and he shall be My son; and I will not take My mercy away from him, as I took it from him who was before you. 14 And I will establish him in My house and in My kingdom forever; and his throne shall be established forever.”’ (1 Chron 17) (1) Note that it did not say Solomon will build David a house initially. The phrasing of

the prophetic word will be fulfilled in Solomon but his intention was that the Lord will finish His house or His Body as an offering before Himself.

C) King David gathered a worship ministry in which he set 4,000 musicians and 288 prophetic singers before the Ark of the Covenant for “giving praise” (23:5; 25:7). The majority of the people were twenty years old and above (1 Chron 23:24). i) The “restoration of the Tabernacle of David” refers to Jesus establishing His Throne

in Jerusalem at the Second Coming and ruling the Earth in context to prayer and worship (Amos 9:11-15; Isaiah 56:7). Love springs from the choice to praise God, and I believe that the Church who is baptized by Fire will pray and worship. This is not just a word that is to be obeyed by just the intercessors, but this is for the children of God who are called the royal priesthood.

D) I like what Mike Bickle, the Director of the International House of Prayer, says concerning Acts 15:16-17. i) 11 I will raise up the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, and repair its

damages; I will raise up its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old; 12 that they may possess the remnant of Edom [Islam] and all the Gentiles [nations, Mt. 24:14]...called by My name…14 I will bring back the captives of My people Israel [1948]; they shall build the waste cities…15 I will plant them in their land, and no longer shall they be pulled up from the land… (Amos 9:11-15) a. Around 750BC, Amos prophesied of the restoration of the tabernacle of David.

The timing was going to be done when the Israelites were going to be brought back to Israel (May 1948). The only time in history when this prophecy of the restoration of the tabernacle of David was going to be fulfilled was during that time when Israelites come back to the land. That sign was a signal that the Spirit of God was going to be poured out in a new measure that would be linked to the great harvest.

b. The fruits that will come forth from the spirit of the tabernacle of David was that Edom would be saved. Edom today are the Arab/Islamic nations. Therefore, the key way to win the Arab nations is when the Church operates in the spirit of the

Page 12: RESTORATION OF TABERNACLE OF DAVID OF...1. Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 2. Ephesians 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the

Tabernacle of David. It is when the Kingdom of God works together in the different callings (Eph 4:11-16) in unity.

c. We are in that great hour in Church history. d. Mike Bickle, the Founder/Director of IHOP states, “The fullness of God’s promise

to restore the tabernacle of David speaks of the full release of Jesus’ government across all the nations in the context of prophetic worship with intercession. It will only be completely restored in Jesus’ millennial government based on 24/7 Davidic worship.”

VII. THE FULLNESS OF THE RESTORATION OF THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID A) The fullness of the restoration of the tabernacle of David will look like a people being

who they are called to be in the Kingdom of God from the response of love. It will look way beyond one prayer center in a city that has prayer and worship but it will look multi-generational where servant-lovers follow the Lord wherever He leads. i) For some people, that may look like praying in the room a lot more than others. For

others that may look like going out to reach the lost a lot more than the intercessors.

B) Before we continue on, I want to define the difference between the intentions of the house of prayer versus a prayer ministry as defined indirectly by the Scriptures. A prayer ministry has a ministry that focuses on worship and prayer that may include creative arts. A house of prayer is a church or a temple where church community is also a reality where prayer is central to receive visions, directions, and revelations. A house of prayer basically is a church where the prayer ministry is vital to function as a Church. i) Mark 11:15-18 equates the word “temple” to that of a house of prayer. There are

several other times where God refers to Himself as a temple (Matt 26:61; Mark 14:58;). The individual believer has also been called a temple (1 Cor 6:19) or a dwelling place of God (Eph 2:22) and a Body of Christ (Romans 12:5; 1 Cor 12:12, 27). The Church is the temple or the house of prayer.

ii) There are prayer ministries that call themselves a house of prayer even though they do not intentionally focus on building up the community. They only come together and pray and that is it. When we started as a college prayer team on the campus that was what it was like in 2006. We cannot have a Body that is healthy without having communion or the process of community with each other.

iii) I think we have a pretty good understanding of the Church culture better than that of the prayer ministry that the Tabernacle of David so I will share on what the prayer ministry looked like in the small part of the Tabernacle of David.

VIII. THE WORSHIP/PRAYER MINISTRY OF THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID A) Prayer for the harvest, for the “rest of mankind,” that they may receive Jesus Christ as

Lord and Savior for salvation. The first application in the Scripture of the restoration of David’s tabernacle was related to Gentiles receiving salvation (Amos 9:11-15; Romans 10:1).

B) Prayer led by prophetic worship. David had singers and musicians worshipping with a

Page 13: RESTORATION OF TABERNACLE OF DAVID OF...1. Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 2. Ephesians 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the

prophetic spirit (1 Chr. 23:5; 25:7). C) Prayer that contends for the fullness of God’s purposes. David vowed to contend for

the fullness of God’s purposes (Ps. 132:1-5). We pray that the Church is filled with glory (Eph. 5:27). This goes further than only focusing our prayers on getting a breakthrough for personal needs.

D) Prayer for mercy and God’s justice. This is foundational to David’s tabernacle being restored (Isa 16:5 “In mercy the throne will be established…)

E) Prayer that results in divine protection (Ps. 91:1-14; Phil. 1:19) for the Church. Nearly all of Psalm 27 is about David receiving God’s protection in times of trouble or a crisis on the earth and for physical provision (Psa 34:8-10).

F) Prayer that values the manifestation of God’s glory—the Spirit’s power and the manifestation of God’s glory (2 Chr. 5:13-14; 7:1-3; Hab. 2:14; Isa. 2:2-4; Ezek 10:3-4). This is an example of what happened in the Day of Pentecost in Acts 2 when the Holy Spirit filled the people of God (temple- 1 Cor 6:19) with fire. They would be empowered to preach the Kingdom of God throughout the earth (Acts 4:31).

G) Prayer for Israel to exalt Jesus in the nations (Isa. 2:3; 4:4-6; 24:23; 62:1, 7; 65:18; 66:20; Jer. 3:17; Joel 3:17; Mic. 4:2; Zech. 6:12-13; 8:2-3; Mt. 5:35). The spirit of the tabernacle of David emphasizes the son of David reigning in Jerusalem and being exalted over all nations.

H) Prayer rooted in personal intimacy with God and fascination with God (Ps. 27:4” …To behold the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in His temple.”).

I) Prayer that values prophetic revelation and confirmations through inquiring God in prayer.

IX. THE HEART OF THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID IS LOVE: A) An attitude of generosity with God’s blessings. David placed much investment in the

kingdom (funding over 4000 musicians and 288 singers), not just his personal sphere of influence.

B) The faithfulness, perseverance, and patience of a zealous heart in love in times of persecutions and hardships. i) Psalm 132:1-5 “LORD, remember David And all his afflictions; How he swore to the

LORD, And vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob: “Surely I will not go into the chamber of my house, Or go up to the comfort of my bed; I will not give sleep to my eyes Or slumber to my eyelids, Until I find a place for the LORD, A dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

ii) So he’s a man after God’s own heart; he’s written so many of these songs, and we wonder why. Its because he has encountered God in so many ways in the place of worship.

C) A people that makes God their inheritance through revelation of God’s love. i) Ezek 44: 28 “It shall be, in regard to their inheritance, that I am their inheritance.

You shall give them no possession in Israel, for I am their possession.”

Page 14: RESTORATION OF TABERNACLE OF DAVID OF...1. Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 2. Ephesians 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the

X. THE PURPOSE OF THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID A) God’s ultimate purpose for the people:

i) 17 So that the rest of mankind may seek the LORD,

Even all the Gentiles who are called by My name,

Says the LORD who does all these things.’(Acts 15:17)

ii) It will look like:

(1) 1 Kings 8

(a) God’s eyes may be opened toward the temple

(i) 29 that Your eyes may be open toward this temple night and day, toward

the place of which You said, ‘My name shall be there,’ that You may hear

the prayer which Your servant makes toward this place.

1. The temple is speaking in context of the corporate temple or Body of

Christ that meets together to seek His face.

(b) God’s ears may hear toward the individual

(i) 30 And may You hear the supplication of Your servant and of Your people

Israel, when they pray toward this place. Hear in heaven Your dwelling

place;

(c) God may forgive toward the individual

(i) 30 and when You hear, forgive.

(d) God may justify the individual: hear, act, judge, and justify.

(i) 31 “When anyone sins against his neighbor, and is forced to take an oath,

and comes and takes an oath before Your altar in this temple, 32 then

hear in heaven, and act, and judge Your servants, condemning the

wicked, bringing his way on his head, and justifying the righteous by

giving him according to his righteousness.

(e) God may restore corporately: hear, forgive, and bring us back

(i) 33 “When Your people Israel are defeated before an enemy because they

have sinned against You, and when they turn back to You and confess

Your name, and pray and make supplication to You in this temple, 34 then

hear in heaven, and forgive the sin of Your people Israel, and bring them

back to the land which You gave to their fathers.

(f) God may teach us corporately how to walk in the good way to receive

physical protection: hear, forgive, teach, and send rain.

(i) 35 “When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because they have

sinned against You, when they pray toward this place and confess Your

name, and turn from their sin because You afflict them, 36 then hear in

heaven, and forgive the sin of Your servants, Your people Israel, that You

Page 15: RESTORATION OF TABERNACLE OF DAVID OF...1. Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 2. Ephesians 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the

may teach them the good way in which they should walk; and send rain

on Your land which You have given to Your people as an inheritance.

(g) SUMMARY: God may bring justice in His mercy toward His people no matter

whatever circumstance: hear, forgive, act, and give to everyone according to

his ways. Our part is to know the plague of our own heart and spread our

hands out in surrender to God.

(i) 37 “When there is famine in the land, pestilence or blight or mildew,

locusts orgrasshoppers; when their enemy besieges them in the land of

their cities; whatever plague or whatever sickness there is; 38 whatever

prayer, whatever supplication is made by anyone,or by all Your people

Israel, when each one knows the plague of his own heart, and spreads

out his hands toward this temple: 39 then hear in heaven Your dwelling

place, and forgive, and act, and give to everyone according to all his

ways, whose heart You know (for You alone know the hearts of all the

sons of men), 40 that they may fear You all the days that they live in the

land which You gave to our fathers.

(h) God may hear and do according to all for which the non-believer call to Him

so people may: 1) know God, 2) fear Him, 3) and may know that the temple is

called by Your name.

(i) 41 “Moreover, concerning a foreigner, who is not of Your people Israel,

but has come from a far country for Your name’s sake 42 (for they will

hear of Your great name and Your strong hand and Your outstretched

arm), when he comes and prays toward this temple, 43 hear in heaven

Your dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls

to You, that all peoples of the earth may know Your name and fear You,

as do Your people Israel, and that they may know that this temple which I

have built is called by Your name.

B) God’s ultimate purpose for Himself in building the temple: i) “For You separated them from among all the peoples of the earth to be Your

inheritance, as You spoke by Your servant Moses, when You brought our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord GOD.”(1 Kings 8:53) (1) God’s ultimate purpose for Himself in building His temple is because He desires a

people for Himself. (2) We become God’s inheritance when we surrender our lives to God and place our

faith in Him. (3) He desires that through the revelation of His goodness toward us that we would

have a compelling love-response of, “You are my inheritance” and be willing to surrender all like the sons of Zadok in Ezek 44. (a) 28 “It shall be, in regard to their inheritance, that I am their inheritance. You

shall give them no possession in Israel, for I am their possession.”

Page 16: RESTORATION OF TABERNACLE OF DAVID OF...1. Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 2. Ephesians 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the

(b) He is looking for people who He can show His love through His covenant so they can learn to love. (i) “I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word

of God and for the testimony which they held.” 1. It is through the testimony of the word of God and for the testimony

which they held of God where it creates these people of witnesses like the martyrs that are willing to respond in Love even in to death.

C) THE PURPOSE TO SEE GOD’S WILL BE DONE THROUGH A PEOPLE WHO MAKES GOD THEIR INHERITANCE i) The will of God occurs many times in the time when God’s will becomes the people’s

will. He makes us realize what His will is through prayer because He has better plans for us than we do. (1) Rev 8:3-4 “Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the

altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand.” (a) The prayers of the saints are the incense:

(i) Psalm 141:2 “Let my prayer be set before You as incense, The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.”

(ii) Luke 1:10 “And the whole multitude of the people was praying outside at the hour of incense.”

(iii) Revelation 5:8 “Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.”

(b) The prayers of the Holy Spirit & the prayers of Jesus Christ to the Father are an incense: (i) Romans 8:26, 27 “26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For

we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us[b] with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”

(ii) Romans 8:34 “Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.”

(c) SUMMARY: When we have a surrendering heart, we will align our will to the will of God and pray what He prays. When that happens, God’s will begins to unleash upon the earth. This is the beginning of the chain to see God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Page 17: RESTORATION OF TABERNACLE OF DAVID OF...1. Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 2. Ephesians 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the

XI. THE SPIRIT OF THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID A) When the will of God becomes the will of man, it begins unleashing the chain of things

that will begin to manifest upon the earth. The vision of God gets realized through prayer, and people will WALK IN HIS WAYS. i) 1 Kings 8:36 “…that You may teach them the good way in which they should

walk…”

ii) God

B) The spirit of the tabernacle of David is complete when there is transformation of the heart that affects the mind and the way of life of the people. i) People who sow in prayer will go out and do the will of God.

(1) Luke 2:36 “Now there was one, Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity; 37 and this woman was a widow of about eighty-four years,[i] who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. 38 And coming in that instant she gave thanks to the Lord,[j] and spoke of Him to all those who looked for redemption in Jerusalem.”

(2) Acts 6:4 “but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”

(3) Acts 4:31 “And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.”

ii) Prayer without doing the will of God is vanity. (1) Isa 1:15 “When you spread out your hands,

I will hide My eyes from you; Even though you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood. 16 “ Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil, 17 Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor;[a] Defend the fatherless, Plead for the widow.”

SUMMARY: The Spirit of the Tabernacle of David has a central message of loving God and

others. The lifestyle of prayer is vital and integrated within the Kingdom church-culture in the

Tabernacle of David. This kind of personal intimacy with the Lord and the love for others look

like a perpetual sacred assembly where there is night and day prophetic prayer and worship as

we come together from different communities/local churches, discipleship, mercy deeds (i.e.

taking care of the widows and the orphans), and kingdom-networking.
