Results

As I wanted my target market to be unisex, and come out with fair results, I decided to interview 50% boys and 50%

girls.

I asked this question to find out the general type of music that my target audience listen to so that it can help me choose the editorial content of the magazine, for example the image and articles as I will know what will attract

them. I found that R&B music was the most popular, whereas drum & bass was the least. This makes it easier for me to choose which genre of music to base my

magazine on as half of my target audience chose R&B.

I decided to ask this question as it will clearly help me in terms of what my target audience would be

attracted to on the front cover, to be able to get their attention. From the results, I noticed that they mostly

look at the front cover images and decide from there. This makes me more aware that I have to

advertise an image that they will like.

I can see that VIBE is a popular music magazine. From this result, I can research into VIBE and find out why it is so popular and how it engages its target audience. For example, what types of features are included

in this particular magazine. I will then be able to see the type of colloquial language used within the magazine to capture its audience and the features included etc, which is used to engage its particular

audience.

I asked this question so that I can section these

artists in my target audiences genre of music.

From these results, the artist that came up the most was Beyonce so I can see that R&B is a

popular genre and that I should use Beyonce on

my front cover whether it’s for my headlines or

explanatory text as this would attract my readers.

I wanted to find this out to see which gender readers usually get attracted to on a magazine cover. Before I got the results, I thought that since I asked the equal

amount of boys and girls, they would each choose the opposite gender on the front cover however from my

results, I can see that 60% of people mentioned no preference. This allows me with an option of either a

female or male on the front cover.

I asked this question because I wanted to place the price tag of my magazine, on the cover itself to I wanted to see what would be an appropriate price that people would agree to purchase at. The impact this has on my magazine is that I

know I should choose a reasonable amount without exceeding the limit. From my results, I can see that 12

people would pay between £1.50 – £2.50 which is most popular, so I am able to choose a price in-between.

I decided to choose seven fonts that I thought would be appropriate for a music magazine and leave my target audience to pick the font

they preferred. The most popular font from my results was “birth of a hero” so I will consider using this as my main font and “impact” as my

sub font.

I wanted to find this out as a magazine is usually distributed and sold either weekly or monthly. This would help me in terms of writing on my magazine

cover whether its a monthly or weekly issue. From my results, monthly magazines are more popular so I have chosen to create a monthly magazine.

I wanted to find out the articles that readers look for when buying a magazine and through my results, I have found

that new music seems to be the most popular. The impact this will now have on my magazine is that I will be

inputting articles that will intrigue and interest the core buyers.
