MAY 2019 Thank you for being a retail partner with the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery. With your help we have funded more than 302,000 college scholarships for Arkansas students since 2009. NEWSLETTER RETAILER May is the last month of the Spring Cash Giveaway Second-Chance Promotion. On April 30, $5,000 Taxes Paid, $20,000 Taxes Paid, $100,000 Taxes Paid, and $200,000 Taxes Paid will launch and all non-winning instant tickets from this launch will be eligible for entry into the promotion. Players may also continue to enter their eligible non-winning March and April instant tickets as well as their Powerball ® tickets until May 31! Please see details regarding drawing dates and cash prizes in the chart above. While lottery tickets are not considered cash, they are a valuable product in your business and should be stored in a secure area. The best way to avoid inventory problems is to account for each and every ticket. Many of the problems handled by Lottery Security Specialists involve retailer loss or employee theft, which are the most significant sources of inventory shrinkage. Internal theft can be better controlled than other types of theft, such as robbery or burglary. Lottery Terminals At the end of each shift and/or day, balance your sales and payouts with the lottery terminal. Two passwords for the terminal may be given to retailers - one for clerks and one for the manager. The clerk’s password will allow employ- ees to cash tickets, receive orders, run reports and print online tickets. The manager’s password will have the same functions as the clerks, but will also be able to activate instant tickets. The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery is committed to ensuring that all aspects of our organization and games are trustworthy, fair, and ethical. If you know of or suspect any impropriety, please contact lottery security as soon as possible. Retailers can report theft 24 hours a day by calling the Lottery Security Hotline at 1-888-606-6292. Counter Dispensers At the end of each shift and/or day, retailers are encouraged to write down the game number, pack number and make a note of all tickets in the counter dispenser. Retailers will have to provide this information to lottery security in the event of loss or theft. Tickets that have not been redeemed will be blocked, and the retailer will not be charged for these tickets. SECURITY TALK – PREVENTING AND DETECTING LOTTERY THEFT
