A New Year is a great time to download the myParish app!
The myParish app allows us to better communicate with you throughout the week and keep you updated with relevant SJM parish news or updates. The app is very well designed and very intuitive. It is a great resource for parishioners by providing daily Mass readings, Catholic news and prayers, convenient prayer and Confession reminders, our bulletins, parish calendar and more. We hope our app is a tool for fostering stronger parish life at St. Joseph Marello and better engaging theNew Evangelization. To download, go to https://myparishapp.com/download/ If you have questions or need assistance, email Anne at [email protected].

St. Stephen Ministry
These St. Stephen Ministers completed their training by the St. Stephen Ministry Leaders. They are now ready to receive their first caregiving assignment to walk alongside a person in crisis for as long as he or she needs care, bringing Jesus’ unconditional love and acceptance to that care receiver. The person in crisis no longer has to walk alone through life’s struggles.
Your support and prayers are vital. You can be the eyes and ears of Jesus. When you notice a need for care – perhaps a friend, a neighbor, a co-worker, or a relative – talk to that person, let him or her know you care and tell him or her about St. Stephen Ministry. If he or she is agreeable, bring the need to the attention of one of the Stephen Ministry Leaders.
In the coming weeks, we will introduce these St. Stephen Ministers to you.
St. Stephen Ministry Leaders: Darlene McClure, Deacon Jeff McClure, and Yvonne von Brauchitsch

Lighthouse Book of the Week: By What Authority?
In this popular work of apologetics, Mark Shea presents a lively and entertaining look at his conversion to Catholicism from Evangelicalism and his discovery of Christian Tradition. As an Evangelical, Shea accepted the principle of Sola Scriptura (Scripture alone) as the basis of faith. Now as a Catholic convert, he skillfully explains how and why Sacred Tradition occupies a central role in divine revelation.

Holy Strollers
We are the Holy Strollers, a walking group of fellow parishioners at St. Joseph Marello parish, both men and women. (We are a LSO club.) We walk every Tuesday morning at 9:15 am for about one hour.
We usually walk outdoors at various locations unless its too hot, too cold or raining. We walk at the Galleria Mall when we need to walk indoors. It’s a great group of people and the time flies by when you walk and talk. The more people the better.
If you are interested in joining us, please contact Barbara Rioux at 916-261-5006 or [email protected] for our current walking location.

Considering the Life of Mary 33 Days After the Birth of Jesus
St. Joseph Marello Marian Guild Presents
Monday, January 27th SJM Ministry Center 8:30 AM Breakfast Buffet
9:00 AM Presentation All Parishioners & Guests Are Invited to Attend
We know the Blessed Virgin Mary by many titles and as time passes we continue to uncover more about her. But... Who was she in her daily life? What did she really think about her parents leaving her to serve in the Temple? How did she feel when they passed? How did she feel when asked to be the Mother of God? How did she feel raising the Christ-Child in such poverty?
Presenter Christie Porter will consider the Life of Mary as told by the Mystics, and as told by Mary herself. Together we will ponder Mary, 33 days after the birth of Jesus in a small cave in Bethlehem. We will listen as she quietly sings and expresses the worries in her heart. We will see how she reveres her Son and is a devoted wife to her husband. Understand Mary more fully as our Mother, protectress and advocate who seeks only to guide us to eternal life through her Son.
Christie Porter is a speaker, teacher, and poet from the Sacramento Di-ocese. For over 15 years, she has shared her talents in youth/young adult ministry across the US, and recently expanded her retreat ministry at Christ the King Retreat Center. She has also appeared as a host on Shalom TV’s, “WOMAN: Strong Faith, True Beauty” and was featured in the Lifetime Documentary, “The Sisterhood: Becoming Nuns”.
