PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE “It started in four rooms” Richmond High School (until the early 60’s) was the only senior high school in Richmond for the students of Lulu Island – an area 14 miles long and 6 miles wide. The history of Richmond High goes back to 1908, when a four room school was built at Bridgeport. In 1928, RHS was officially opened on Cambie & Sexsmith Road until it moved to its new location in 1952 on Foster Road – now Minoru Blvd. In the early 2000’s the construction of a “new” Richmond High began and over the Christmas break in 2003 everything was moved in to the present Richmond Secondary so that when the students returned to school in January 2004, they would start the New Year in their new school. In 1988 it was the 60 th Anniversary of RHS the Alumni was formed and we will be celebrating our 25 th year. I need to make mention that the Richmond Colts basketball team is celebrating their 25 th Anniversary of winning the 1988 B.C. High school basketball championship as well. Over the past 25 years, the Alumni has donated over $550,000.00 dollars to scholarships, athletics, sports, music, drama, clubs, technology, dry grad, lunch program, Cinderella project, Colt daycare to name a few. Your Board of Directors volunteer their time to help fundraise in order to continue supporting Richmond High. I would like to “thank” all of our Directors for their continued commitment to the R.S.S. PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

The tradition of excellence continues… and the Alumni Association plays a major role in our continuing success. Our students excel in so many

ways. Whether it is in academics, athletics, fine arts, service to the community or citizenship, it is clear that Richmond Secondary continues to be

a school with a difference. Through the ongoing support and vision of the Alumni, we are able to provide our students with the educational

experience they will need for success in the coming years through the purchase of a new computer lab and additional resources for our Athletic

and Music Programs. With the purchase of 15 new ipads our teachers will teach using the vast array of resources available on the web, online

books, and teacher developed resources. The thoughtful leadership and support of the Alumni Board of Directors has made this school what it is

today. The Board will continue, I am sure, to play a vital role in sustaining the traditions, legacy and history we value. We truly appreciate

everything you do to continue to make Richmond Secondary School a great place of learning! Thank you for your gift of time, loyalty and support.

And now I can once again join in and say ‘Once a Colt, Always a Colt!’ Rose Sebellin
