Carrol Cox--Ways and Means Chair

Have you ever seen the poster created in the 2008-09

timeframe called, “You Might be a Shagger if …”? The poster

was created by a group of talented people in the Richmond

Shag Club. Once it was created, they had it printed and sold

copies to the RSC members. Several of those people still have

it picture framed in their home. It consists of 22 quotes that are

really funny. Things like, “you are over 55 and still have sand in

your shoes” or “your feet hurt so bad you can’t walk, but you

gotta shag one more time” or “you think ‘39-21-40’ shape sounds reasonable on

a woman” and my favorite, “Charlie and Jackie don’t need last names.”

The document was so popular a couple of the RSC members had it Registered

so no one else could copy and use it. I have been looking for a sale item that

would be unique to RSC to raise money, and I believe this is it. Sale items

would be posters (frameable in good quality paper) and good quality Tee-shirts

with ithe quote printed on the back and a small RSC logo on the front pocket.

Wearing an item like this to “SOS” or any other event will create a stir and de-

mand. I promise you we can sell them, and no one else can copy the idea

since we own the registration.

I would like your thoughts! Please email me to let me know if you are a candi-

date for one or both items.

Ducking and Dodging, the dou-ble D's of 2020, tying to remain safe from the covid pandemic . Everyone, every business, and every social gathering has been negatively affected by this pan-demic in 2020. Hopefully, in 2021 we can re-boot our lives to a new norm and everyone can re-turn to enjoying life free of fear and remorse . The RSC directors for 2021 are working to re-boot our club, pickup the pieces and start anew with hopes and dreams of new days of gatherings to dance and enjoy ourselves.

Allen

Lisa Cox--Treasurer I would like to thank the RSC membership for electing me as your new Treasurer. I ac-cept this position with honor, and I will be diligent in keep-ing accurate and detailed

records of all monies received and disbursed. If you ever have a question about where our clubs’ money is being spent, please do not hesitate to ask. I will be glad to provide that in-formation to you. I look forward to us all getting back together in 2021, and dancing again to our favorite shag songs. Please continue to stay safe.

Lisa

Shirley Gough--

Outgoing Hospitality Chair Happy New Year to All.

Thank you for opportunity to serve at the membership desk for two years. It is enjoyable and newsworthy. You really

meet all the new and old members. Some fun-ny, some old, and some new. Thanks to Beverly Dillard for accepting the job for the coming year. She is a pro at this as it is not her first go round. Since this is a volunteer club, please sign up to help her in the position.

I enjoyed working the desk but more im-portantly, everyone needs to do his or her part for the club to continue being success-ful. I know it has brought a lot of joy to a lot of people, so let's continue to work hard and have a large club with a large amount of fun. We have a good time with lots of laughs and plenty of dancing. Miss seeing all of you. Hope each one had a very nice Christmas and let's look forward to 2021.

Shirley

Beverly Dillard--Hospitality Desk Hello everyone, I’m Bev Dillard, your new Chair of

the Hospitality Committee, which puts me in charge

of the Welcome Desk for the year. Is it possible that

this new year of 2021 could be as unusual as was

2020? Let’s hope not! We have to ask

ourselves, what have we gotten our-

selves into, trying to plan shag club

activities during such uncertain

times. But, my dear friends, we must

have positive attitudes, and be hope-

ful that the worst is past and excit-

ing times are ahead.

If you have been around Visions

you have probably seen me before at the desk, or on

the floor dancing, or teaching Beginner Lessons with

my husband Parker. We’ve been members since

2003. Other smiling volunteers and I will try to an-

swer your questions, handle new membership sign

ups and renewals, and hopefully make reservations

for social events when we become active shaggers

once again.

Until the time when our DJ is playing our familiar tunes once more, I look forward to seeing you soon on the hardwood.

Bev
