MINISTRY MORSEL At Northern Beaches Anglicans, our Parish Ministry Framework 2019+
draws us into partnership with the living God as fellow workers in his
service. Committed to his agenda of bringing everything under the
Lordship of Jesus. In the words of the Ministry Framework, “We will fulfil
this commitment by seeking to help each person move out of the dominion of
darkness into the kingdom of the Son and to press forward towards maturity in
Christ.”
This commitment involves a God-centred view of the world. Recognising
God as Creator. That he created human beings as the pinnacle of creation.
Uniquely made in the image of God. Designed to live in a relationship with
the Triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Acknowledging the
fundamental, universal fracture of that relationship caused by humanity’s
rebellion against the rule of God. Understanding the existence of two
kingdoms: darkness and light.
This understanding of our world means each person is somewhere on a
spectrum with regard to God. No knowledge and no relationship at one
end. Perfect intimacy and knowledge (heaven) at the other. Paul speaks of
two kingdoms and the central point of the spectrum in Colossians
1:13-14, ‘For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us
into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the
forgiveness of sins.’ God’s goal for humanity is movement from one
kingdom to the other. Through that which is achieved by Jesus’ death on
the Cross. In other words, ‘moving people to the right.’ Not just conversion
but transformation. From spiritual new birth and infancy to maturity in
Christ. Sharing this commitment of moving people to the right is central to
shared ministry. Brothers and sisters, remember these things: no one is
automatically in the kingdom of the Son; acceptance of the Lordship of
Jesus moves people into the Kingdom of God; we have a responsibility for
our own movement to the right and for the movement to the right of
others; we do this by pointing people to Jesus and his living word.
‘He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all
wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. To this end I
strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.’

TODAY’S SERMON READING
Luke 5:27-39 (p1032)
COLLECT: Almighty God, through your only Son you overcame death and opened to us the gate of everlasting life: grant that we who celebrate our Lord’s resurrection, may, through the renewing power of your Spirit, rise from the death of sin to the life of righteousness; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Thank you Father, for making yourself known to us, showing us the way of salvation through faith in your Son. We ask you now to teach us through your word, so that we may be ready to serve you, for the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

FEDERAL ELECTION is 13 days away. Christians are being urged to pray four things during that period.
that God would rule over this election that righteous leaders would be elected to govern this nation in truth and justice
for God’s blessing upon all our current parliamentarians and leaders, including their families and all the candidates
for a multiplication of prayer and unity across the Body of Christ in Australia that people will wake up to the dangers facing our nation
for a spiritual awakening for Australia
REGULAR BIBLE READING was one of the challenges flowing from last Sunday’s message. It is difficult to find suitable, helpful, biblically rich personal Bible reading material. If you would like assistance in this matter please speak to David. He can email you sets of bible readings with short explanation, application and a prayer. This material can also be provided in hard copy.
