Forty-nine members and guests attended the auction with 37 registered bidders. Auctioneers Dick Christian and Wayne Alan did a fantastic job demonstrating the live auction items and coaxing out the best dollar. Overall lucky bidders  bought some great magic equipment, publications and videos. An eight volume set of “Tarbell Course in Magic” books drew very active bidding but Danny Selnick gave the final bid of $120 and walked away with them. A  break-apart wood wrist chopper was another piece of magic that drew a lot of bids but was won for only $115 by Theo Rushin. After escalating bids Tom Bohacek succeeded in winning Richard Sander’s “Interlace:  The  borrowed ring on shoelace miracle” for $45. Larry Lipman  walked away with a Silk Cylinder. Another great buy. Avi Littky took home Nails Thru A rm Illusion . Altogether , i t was a very busy night with a total of 183 items being sold of which 32 of the 51 items were bought in the live auction and 151 magic items sold in the silent auction. Ring 50 collected $207.20 as 10% of the total auction sales and donations. The auction tabulators were Rucj Uffelman,  Danny Selnick , and Louis Meyer, lead  by Bob Patterson, treasurer. Make checks  payable to IBM  Ring 50 . Cash will be accepted  providing you have the correct change ($15). If you are unable to make the meetings, you can also send a check to his home address at 3450 Wainscott Place, Lake Ridge, VA 22192-5362. The March 3 rd meeting was theannual auction for Ring 50members. Forty-nine membersand guests attended the auctionwith 37 registered bidders.Auctioneers Dick Christian andWayne Alan did a fantastic jobdemonstrating the live auctionitems and coaxing out the bestdollar. Overall lucky bidders

bought some great magicequipment, publications andvideos.

Sharpen up your skills and competeat the May 5 th meeting for theDan LaceyMemorial Trophyand the title“Magician of the

Year”. The winner will receive a rotating trophy anda spot to perform at the 2011 Ring50 Magi-Whirl Gala show. AllRing 50 members both new andveteran members can seek thetitle. A panel of judges willdeclare the winner. The late DanLacey was a president of Ring 50(1999-2000) who inspired others--especially newcomers to magic— to hone their skills. The contest

provides an opportunity torecognize the exceptional magicskills of our members. The contest was started in 2003 to honor the deceased magician.

Kyle Peron will be our lecturer for the April 7 th meeting. Thislecture and workshop is aboutlearning how to be creative, think creatively and how to apply directexercises and techniques to allowthe members creativity to growwith the magic that they perform.Every single person possesses theability to be creative. This lectureteaches you techniques andexercises that your members canuse to unlock the doors to their own creativity.

What makes this lecture sodifferent is that it is not just a longspeech where people sit, watchand listen. It is much more thanthat. Kyle believes that the power of learning anything is in the actof doing. That is why “Encore” is

both a lecture and hands onworkshop experience.

The I.B.M “Greatest Annual Magic Convention” for 2010 will

be held in San Diego California,July 6 - 10, 2010. Be sure to register thru the I.B.M websitewww.Magician.Org, click the“convention” tab in the upper rightcorner, and then click on “Register Online”. Read the pricing matrixand begin registration at the bottom.You will need your IBM number.Be sure to check the box for your

spouse if you are bringing one andgive her name in the “AdditionalRegistrant Information” section. If you are unable to register onlineyou may download a printable formand mail it in. I.B.M members canregister before June 21 for $260 andsave. After June 21 and at theconvention the price will be $285.
