Please read this manual thoroughly and note safety precautions in the contents and symbols or words marked with “DANGER” and “CAUTION” prior to installation, wiring, operation maintenance and troubleshooting.

Following safety precautions require particular attention:

DANGER 1. May not conduct wiring work during power transmission in order

to prevent electric shock. 2. R, S, and T terminals, connected to power source, are power input

terminals of inverter. U, V, and W terminals, connected to motor, are power output terminals of inverter. The care that P, N, P1, and PR terminals can not be connected to either power source or motor must be made.

3. After turning power off, please do not touch the inverter or change the wiring before CRG indicator light on the operation panel is off.

4. The terminals of main power circuit and control circuit can not be connected to PE terminals.

5. After wiring is completed, the inverter cover should be put on to prevent other people’s touch.

6. RM5E inverter may not be connected to 346/380/415/ 440/460/ 480V power source.

7. Operators should keep away from the motor before the inverter transmitting power.

8. The wirings of main circuit and control circuit should be separated; the ground wire should match with third grounding method. (ground resistance under 100Ω).

9. The wiring electrician should be a qualified professional. 10. The inverters do not equipped with explosion-proof devices,

therefore should be kept away from oil, gas…. explosible areas.

CAUTION 1. During installation, the inverters should be kept away from areas

of high temperature, humidity, oil gas, cotton streaks, iron powder, copper powder or corrosive substances.

2. While being installed in a control panel, ambient temperature may not exceed 50 .

3. Isolated wires for control signals are recommended to prevent noise interference, grounding should be noted as well.

4. Descriptions and installations of terminals of wiring drawings (1) Wiring should be made according to the symbols of terminals,

and keep terminals connected tightly with screws. (2) Appropriate wire diameter (refer to Electrical Code) should be

used for power source wiring. Connect main circuit R, S and T terminals to power source (for single phase power source connect to L1 and N terminals).

(3) Place appropriate specification of no fuse brake (NFB) or fuse to power source input terminals of inverter; install a thermal relay (THRY) between each motor and inverter when a high-capacity inverter is used to drive multiple small rated power loads.

(4) After output terminals (U, V, W) of inverters have been disconnected, pressure resistance and insulation of motor can be then tested. Note that pressure-resistance test to inverter can be performed only by experienced personnel.

(5) Only qualified professionals could undertake tasks of installation, wiring, test run or troubleshooting…, and etc.

according to construction distance, time-saving and labor-saving (maximum distance may reach 25 meter).

‧Restart after instantaneous power interruption

During operation, the inverter may encounter instantaneous power interruption, under such circumstance, may set up tracking motor speed for automatic restart to resume operation status before interruption.

‧9 speed level selections and 5 independent acceleration / de-celeration time settings There are 5 independent acceleration / deceleration time settings which ranges from 0.0 sec. to 360.0 sec. within nine speed level selections. For acceleration from 0.0Hz to 60.0Hz the fastest is 0.015 sec. (excluding free running), the slowest 192000 sec.

‧4 digit display

Can display 11 statuses (frequency, speed, voltage, current, and etc.) ‧Programmable input and output

For input terminal X1~X4 there are 25 programmable functions, and one set of relay output terminal has 17.

‧Functions of setting data copy and memory The setting data of inverters can be stored in KP-201C keypad, then rewrite to other inverter. This function applies to the condition of multiple inverters with one single setting. Please note all software versions should be consistent (software version setting item no. F_000) in order to carry out parameter copy.

(1) Basic components The inverters have to be incorporated with some elementary devices for driving motor. These essential elementary devices are called basic components, and they are: A. Power source:should be applied according to specifications.

B. Nofuse brake (NFB):can overcome instantaneous current, and

function as an isolation as well when power starts.

C. Inverter:main device of driving motor, chosen in accordance

with the specifications by referring to the lists of standard specification of motor driven.

D. Motor:The specifications of motor are determined according to

the requirement of applications.

(2) Environment conditions For correct and safety operation, the operational environment of inverter should be cared, and the conditions are described as followings: A. Power source:apply according to the specifications of inverter

(Please refer to standard specification). B. Location:For the considerations of heat generated by the operating

machine, inverter has to be installed in the ventilative space, and ambient ventilation conditions should be noted. The installations of inverter are shown as followings:

C. Notes and specifications of wiring a. The leakage current between ground and wires that are

connected between inverter and motor, is not the same for different rated power. The relation of carry frequency to wiring distance is referred to the table below.

PS. The carry frequency is determined by setting number (F016). b. When altitude where an inverter is used is over 1000 meter,

the relationship between rated current and altitude is shown below.

C. In the monitor mode, there are eleven displays which include

one main (indication light not flashing) and ten auxiliary (indication light flashing) as shown below for switching. a. Any display can be set as a main display by the determination

of function code setting F010. b. The advantage of these main and auxiliary displays is for

users to define the importance of displays. If the auxiliary display has not been switched to main display and idled for over three minutes, the display would be automatically switched back to main for user to monitor.

(1) Operation procedures

DANGER 1. Please do not change the wiring before CRG indicator of

inverter is off.

CAUTION

1. Check wiring after completion for damages to prevent leakage

or short-circuit. 2. Keep terminal well connected with screws.

A. Be sure that power source, voltage, motor and inverter are matched.

B. Connect power source lines to terminals R, S and T (three phase) or L1 and N (single phase) of inverter.

C. Turn on the power source, set the function codes and parameters, and press RUN to check that the voltage of U, V and W terminals are correct or not. Then, press STOP after completion.

D. Turn off the power source and wait until the LED is off, then connect motor lines to U, V and W terminals of inverter.

E. Turn on the power source and check the rotating direction of motor with low speed, then accelerate gradually.

F. User has to use the ON/OFF switch on keypad to start/stop motor. If the switch of power source is used to start/stop inverter, the product life span of inverter will be reduced.

G. It is not permitted to install electromagnetic contact between inverter and motor to start/stop motor due to start current of motor is about 5 to 8 times of its rated current.

H. Selection of single phase power source input to control three

phase AC motor inverter: a.Selection of inverter: For single phase power source, 2HP inverter for 1HP motor,

and 1HP inverter for 1/2HP motor are recommended for control.

b.Parameter settings:Please reset parameters of the following

During acceleration, if output current exceeds 170% of rated current of inverter, acceleration will be terminated. Until output current less than 170% of rated current of inverter, acceleration will be continued.

(for deceleration)

During deceleration, over-high regenerative voltage will cause termination of deceleration. Until the regenerative voltage is lower, deceleration will continue.
