The Pres Sez
Well my time has come to end as the prez of our club and what an honor it has been to work along side all of you amazing people. I look forward to conituning to seve our club in many ways and hope to see more and more of you out there participating in the year to come at our service acitivites and fundraising efforts. Thank you again for the honor and here’s to an awesome 2019 - 2020 with Prez Bobbie Jo at the helm. Peace Out!
al President, Dr. Jung-Yul Choi has taken on the slogan “We Serve Through Diversity.” Amazingly, during a time of national and global pushback on all thing’s LGBTQ, the Li-on’s door is being opened, we as LGBTQ Lions need only step through. This has all the signs of being a wonderful year to be a Lion.Along with that comes additional change; we will be relocat-ing our meetings to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Visalia, for our August 5th meeting and beyond. So set your calen-dars and come check out the new digs. Thoughts of potlucks, and dessert nights come to mind; you won’t want to miss out…yum! Finally, I would like to encourage all our new Lions to sign up for and attend our District meetings. I can think of no better way to learn of the working of Lions beyond our Pride club, then to attend a district meeting. It provides great insight on how we impact our district, state, nation, and the world. This is also a wonderful way to network with other Lions in the district and a great way to support our gover-nor.“Walk Softly…Leave A Big Paw Print”Lion Bobbie Jo

In May we helped the Hanford Breakfast Lions with their annual Mothers Day breakfast, by cooking and running a photobooth. We also participat-ed in the annual Avenue of flags. Our club placed and took down over 1300 individual flags on veteran headstones. A very honorable tradition. Thanks to all who participated. We also received an award from the Im-perial Dove Court for our service to the community.

We were there for Visalia and Fresno Pride celebrations. Also, Bobbie Jo did a bus trip up to San Francisco for their Pride celebra-tion. Another Successful Pride RideA bus full of excited attendees left at daybreak on June 30th to en-joy a day of PRIDE as only San Francisco can offer. The event was organized to raise funds to help keep The Living Room open and fi-nancially assist in the search in a cure for HIV/AIDS. And of course, San Francisco Pride Ride was a huge success. Since 2014 Lions Yolanda and Bobbie Jo Mendez have participated in the annual Fresno Aids Walk and 5K Run. Under the team name “Team STR8 with a TWIST” they hosted (among other events) the 3rd annual San Francisco Pride Ride. San Francisco Pride Ride is an inclusive bus ride to the bay and back, that features games, oppor-tunity drawings, giveaways, and meals in route. Once there, all are free to enjoy the Parade and the following celebration for the day. This year’s Pride Ride earned just under $400 for their aids walk team and for the effort to fight HIV/AIDS. Those wishing t donate or participate; registered team listings and sign up information can be found at: http://fresnoaidswalk.org/
