We will be having a huge push on social media and advertising through platforms such as Facebook and Twitter – as well as utilizing bloggers and online publications, along with our own website to spread the word about the ‘Rock of Ages’ fashion show.
We will be selling the tickets through Northern Tickets and will be having 250 tickets available for purchase. The rest of the seats and tickets will be sent by invitation to notable fashion and music VIP’s and media but we will be also inviting teachers who are making a difference in their schools through their music programs to experience the power of fashion and music combined for a greater cause.

MUSICOUNTS & HOLT RENFREW PRESENTS ‘ROCK OF AGES’ FASHION SHOW TO RAISE FUNDS FOR MUSIC PROGRAMS
ACROSS BRITISH COLUMBIA. Vancouver, BC – On Thursday, August 2nd, 2012 – Musicounts and Holt Renfrew are please to announce the ‘Rock of Ages’ Charity Fashion Show. The fashion show will be featuring fashions inspired by the biggest and most influential rock‐stars of the past five decades, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, Kurt Cobain and Bono featuring the best of luxury brands that are found at Holt Renfrew. MusiCounts, Canada’s music education charity associated with CARAS, is helping to keep music alive in schools across Canada. MusiCounts’ mission is to ensure that children in Canada have access to a music program through their school. By teaming up with Holt Renfrew, they are creating an experience that those in Vancouver have never felt or seen before. Vancouver’s very own, Erin Cebula, will host the show along with a night filled exciting performances and giveaways. With a live performance by Hedley, an after party hosted by DJ Flipout, a swag bag that is the envy of all swag bags, fashion and music of the ages – there couldn’t be a greater way to raise awareness for music programs in British Columbia. [Venue Details]
Description: Originally a repair shed for train engines, the Exhibition Hall retains much of the original post and beam architecture, and even some railway tracks, which remain embedded in its polished concrete floor. Natural light, high ceilings, and the floor‐to‐ceiling windows proved a dramatic space, well suited for large gatherings, parties, exhibitions, trade shows, conferences, performance and weddings. Notes: Caterers use Kitchen and will have access through the hallway to the bar without having the guests see them. Backstage Area: Performance Center. Total Music Time Length: 35:14 All of the songs picked correlate with its respective artist and scene. It's only appropriate that if a scene is dedicated to a rock star of the decade, that the music is reflective of his work. The songs chosen reflected the songs that have once made a huge impact for each artist. Each song featured has been a number one hit at one time or another – to add an even further unique twist to the choices, only remixes of these songs have been chosen to keep the show upbeat and to maintain the spirit and high energy of all of the featured rock‐stars.
ELVIS PRESLEY 1960’S
Throughout his 20‐plus years in the international spotlight, the King embodied stardom. His looks were calculated and were a key ingredient in the grandeur he epitomized. From sequined jumpsuits and capes to pink shirts and black leather pants, Elvis was a fashion force that consistently went beyond the edge. Elvis' personal style was the epitome of superstar‐big sunglasses, big collars and lots of jewelry. The Elvis flavor is still with us. The big collars he favored came back in style with Brad Pitt's recent portrayal of Rusty Ryan in the movie "Ocean's 13." And his bling, a lot of gold, has been echoed the hip‐hop world. He was Elvis ‐ and [no one did fashion like Elvis.]

OPTION ONE OPTION TWO
The hair will be styled in Elvis’ signature style. Depending on the models’ length of hair, Elvis’ signature “poof” can be dramatized like option one or styled, with a slight curl and mess in the front, with the rest of the hair gelled back like option two.
[MAKEUP]
To capture Elvis’s essence, the models eyebrows will be darkened with a brow pencil; there will be foundation, with a bit of bronzer to match the glow that Elvis always had. To finish the look, a little mascara will be added to the models’ lashes to make their eyes pop.

JIMI HENDRIX 1970’S
Jimi was of the hippie generation and a hippie icon; his dress ran from dapper to colorfully flamboyant. He wore these far out clothes well. He had an affinity for soft, billowy fabrics and layering garments like vests, scarves, sometimes contrasting prints. His style had a sharp and glamorous edge accented with big bling around his neck, and ruffles and fringes on his shirts. In 1967 he started to wear a wide‐brimmed Westerner brand cowboy hat. He wrapped a narrow purple band and various brooches around it. The hat was stolen in 1968 and he tried dawning various hats for a few months. Then in late 1968 he began tying scarves to one leg and one arm, and six months latter replacing the hats with bandanas. Many biographers and commentators believe that Jimi Hendrix’s hair was patterned after Bob Dylan. A set of hair curlers was one of only a few things that he carried in a small bag on his first trip to England with Chas Chandler in 1966. Jimi Hendrix’s fashion demanded just as much attention as his music.

OPTION ONE OPTION TWO
The hair will be very simple for this scene. The models will have straight hair, worn down – ones who aren’t wearing hats will have bangs, the ones who are will have their bangs put to the side and worn straight.
[MAKEUP]
For the models’ make‐up, we will maintain a clean, polished look. A little foundation, bronzer to give the girls some life, a little white liner in the corner of the eyes, and a rich, earthy tone for the lips.

DAVID BOWIE 1980’S
To call David Bowie a mercurial trendsetter is much too pedestrian. To write that he defies tradition and remains ahead of the fashion curve only begins to scratch the surface of his impact, influence and importance in men’s fashion. The truth is that David Bowie has been an icon in style for so long that he now serves as an icon for other style icons, which gives him a heightened status. While other musicians and performers often adopt a new personae for an album and tour only to discard the “character” once the ticket receipts have been counted, David Bowie’s various looks are all part of his wider view of art, theater, culture ‐‐ and himself. He may choose a specific designer he likes and a new suit for a special performance (such as he did with Thom Browne and Browne’s line of suits with shortened sleeves and trouser legs, which revealed David Bowie’s sock‐less ankles planted firmly in brown wingtips), but David Bowie is always David Bowie. He is the one wearing the clothes, and they are never costumes.

OPTION ONE OPTION TWO
The hair will be styled with a highly saturated, reddish orange colored Mohawk wig picture above. This scene is showing all sides of David Bowie – and the hair will be styled like option one for the simpler look and option two for the more eccentric looks.
[MAKEUP]
For the model’s faces, we will focus on have an extremely contoured face, with a bit of blush on the sides of the face from the cheek to about the corner of the eye. We will also add a little liner just to highlight the eyes and some matching foundation from their skin on their lips.

KURT COBAIN 1990’S
There’s probably no other music figure in history that established an entire subculture the way that Kurt Cobain did. Kurt Cobain was the oh‐so‐talented frontman of Nirvana, who hit the airwaves in 1991 with their hit record “Nevermind” and notorious single, “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” among many others. Kurt is often hailed as the spokesman of Generation X, and Nirvana is credited with launching the Seattle grunge movement.

OPTION ONE OPTION TWO
Because some of our models have shorter hair, we would style it like option one. Teased, puffy & tossed around hair. The rest of the models who have longer hair will just have their hairs waved, scrunched, teased to look frizzy and left messy. ‘Grunge’ hairstyles often look like you just rolled out of bed and that is the look we would want to emulate.
[MAKEUP]
For the models’ make‐up, we will be going for a washed‐out look. As though the girls just woke up and left the house with the make‐up from the night before. We would darken under the eyes, smudge a bit of pale lipstick on their lips and add a lot of powder and foundation to make them look pale.

BONO 2000’S
Bono is the lead singer of a rock band renowned the world over for several decades, so it can be expected that certain sections of the media will pick up on any unique quirks in his fashion sense. It has been well documented that the U2 front man rarely appears in public without a pair of sunglasses, but is this merely a bold fashion statement, or something a little more complex?

OPTION ONE OPTION TWO
The hair will be styled in two different ways, depending on the models hair length. If the model’s hair is a little bit longer, we would have it slick back like the first option, if he has short hair we would style it like our second option. Bono is infamous for having long hair, slicked back as though he has been running his fingers through it.
[MAKEUP]
For the model’s faces, we will focus on keeping a clean face with a little cover‐up and cream for the foundation but for the most part, leaving the models in their natural state. If they have a little stubble, it would be better because it would match Bono’s aesthetic.

Bono and Emporio Armani are two household names that come hand in hand. He is nearly unrecognizable without his trademark sunglasses. In reality, thought most would consider it a fashion statement; for Bono, it holds a more functional value. The sunglasses are actually used to protect his eyes, which are very sensitive to light. As he best explained it in a recent interview:
"So it's part vanity, it's part privacy, and part sensitivity."

[Show Introduction] When you think of the last five decades in music, a few names come to mind ‐ especially when you think about whom the biggest stars of each time were. When you think of these names you immediately associate them with their "look." Michael Jackson brings to mind the black and white suit and that lone white glove. Madonna brings to mind her infamous bullet‐stitch bra. Tonight, the biggest rock stars from the 60’s until today inspire us. Music and fashion have gone hand in hand and we felt no two greater forces could have joined together than Music Counts and Holt Renfrew to present to you the "Rock of Ages" fashion show.
[Scene Introduction] Instead of having the emcee actually introduce each scene, what we will be doing in between the scenes is have the sound of a radio tuning and a tape rewinding as though to travel through the music to travel through time.
