1542 East Montgomery Ave., Philadelphia, Pa., 19125 Dear Friend, Rock to the Future (www.Rocktothefuturephilly.org ) invites you to be a part of its first annual Year End Showcase, featuring original and cover songs from the Rock to the Future students. This event is being held at the World Café Live, (www.worldcafelive.com ) on June 5, 2011. Rock to the Future provides free, afterschool music education and opened in the fall of 2010 for students in the Fishtown area of Philadelphia between the ages of 9 and 14. The program focuses on the fusion of music education with academics to create success in school and in life by improving cognitive ability, learning capacity, socialization skills, self-esteem and creative thinking. The students learn an instrument of their choice and also receive help with their homework. Students attend the program every day after school until 6 p.m. at the Atonement Lutheran Church in Fishtown. The students work together to write original music and attend free educational and musical seminars and workshops. Instructors and volunteers are dedicated to motivating students to be the best they can be at their chosen instrument and in school. The desire of Rock to the Future is to spread arts and music into the lives of lower-income Philadelphia students, who might otherwise never experience arts and music education. The program is 100% free to the students, and relies on the donations and support of the community. We hope to raise enough funds to help current Rock to the Future students continue their studies and musical education, as well as provide additional students with the same opportunity next year. We welcome items such as gift certificates, gift baskets, tickets to sporting events or concerts, opportunities for unique experiences and getaways and/or any other product your business might want to donate.
