Context of the post Youth Zones are amazing places: accessible, vibrant, welcoming, fun and caring are just some of the words used by young people. Legacy’s state-of-the-art £6.5 million building opened on Whitehorse Road, Croydon in September 2019 and is no different. Centrally located, it is dedicated to young people and to making a bold statement about the importance of giving young people high quality places to go in their leisure time. Legacy has big ambitions to be a flagship for quality youth provision and joins the growing OnSide network. Open 7 days a week, at weekends and during school holidays, the Youth Zone’s purpose is to help young people grow to be happy, healthy and successful adults. Youth Zones provide young people with access to a range of activities, all offering the opportunity to try new things, meet new friends and gain support from friendly, warm and positive staff and volunteers. The facilities will include a 3G pitch, a gym, sports hall and recreation area, and dance, arts, music and media suites seven days a week, and facilities equipped for a wide range of sporting, artistic, cultural and general recreational activities and targeted services. To access a Youth Zone young people aged 8 – 19 (or 25 with additional needs), simply pay 50p per visit and £5 per year membership.

Duties and Responsibilities - Detailed • Maintain and develop online content including video and imagery that captures the

positive impact Legacy Youth Zone has on young people; plus the ongoing support we receive from our funders and other key stakeholders.

• Managing day-to-day website updates ensuring content is up to date with appropriate SEO in place plus maintain user journey efficiency.

• Promoting the brand, culture and personality of Legacy to current and prospective members and Funders, as well as content for the staff.

• Develop, execute, and manage organic and paid for social and PPC campaigns that generate awareness of our delivery programme and fundraising events.

• Writing copy and designing adverts. Adobe suite skills would be advantageous but not essential

• Use analytics to monitor and improve the effectiveness and reach of Legacy’s online presence

• Continuously test, review and optimise campaigns to maximise performance whilst driving cost down.

• Support the email automation strategy and regular news updates to members, parents and other key stakeholders.

• Be willing to undertake ad-hoc projects, which could occasionally be offline tactics, whether it’s, direct mail campaigns or flyers.

• Be the point of contact in the marketing team to liaise with young people interested in being part of the Media Squad, and work with them together with Media Youth Workers on online/offline campaigns to supports in driving awareness of all things Legacy.

• Build positive relationships with key local and regional media to build the Youth Zone’s profile and brand identity generating positive coverage and dissemination of key messages

• Ensuring consistency in the use of the Legacy and OnSide brand and the further development and implementation of guidelines around visual identity, promoting good practice and training colleagues as appropriate

• Stay abreast of external communications trends, highlighting where new approaches might be beneficial and champion new technology, learn new skills and then train and enthuse others to put these into practice

• Act as a spokesperson on behalf on the Youth Zone. • Work with young people directly, obtaining case studies and supporting young people to

tell their own inspiring stories and sharing appropriately online. • Promotion of Legacy events using Event Platform and managing online invitations;

working closely with the Fundraising and/or Delivery teams. • Work with OnSide’s and other Youth Zone Marketing and Communications teams to share

best practice • Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by management
