National University Corporation Evaluation (1)

What is a ‘National University Corporation’?All national universities and inter‐university research institutes incorporated in 2004 ‐ Presently 86 university corporations and 4 institute corporations exist

The Minister sets mid‐term (six‐year) objectives of each corporation by respecting their characteristics and ideas  

Each corporation sets a mid‐term (six‐year) plan to accomplish the objectives

National University Corporation Evaluation (2)

NIAD‐UE’s responsibilityMEXT’s Committee delegates the evaluation of a corporation’s attainment level of mid‐term objectives for education and research (from 2004‐2005 to 2007‐2008) to NIAD‐UE

CharacteristicsAspects of evaluation: the corporation’s attainment level of mid‐term objectives and the progress of academic units (both undergraduate and graduate levels) based on the performance report made by the corporationThe evaluation results are used in developing the next mid‐term plan and affect the rate of management grant allocations to eachcorporation

Mar 2009: Each of 90 corporation’s evaluation process finished2010‐2011: The results of the attainment level of education and research during the first mid‐term period will be finalized

Multilateral partnerships among Japan‐China‐Korea Quality Assurance Organizations (1)

Oct 2009: the Japan‐China‐Korea Trilateral Summit Meeting was held and anagreement that promotes international cooperation among Japan‐China‐Korea universities under a governmental‐level expert meeting was announced

Mar 2010: The 1st meeting among NIAD‐UE, HEEC (China) and KCUE (Korea) was held

‘Japan‐China‐Korea Quality Assurance Council’ establishedMission ‐ Contributing to sound university exchanges among Japan, China and Korea by collaborative projects under close cooperation in three organizations

Apr 2010: “CAMPUS Asia” project launched at the 1st Japan‐China‐Korea Committee for Promoting Exchange and Cooperation among Universities

Aug 2010: Details of agreement to facilitate a joint evaluation project in close relation with “CAMPUS Asia” project at the 2nd Japan‐China‐Korea Quality Assurance Council

International Symposium on Exchange among Universities with Quality Assurance in East Asian Region will be held in 2011 to share the experiences of the “CAMPUS Asia” project with East Asian nations

The Goal of the Japan‐China‐Korea Cooperation

Contribute to promoting the university exchange with quality assurance among the three countries and share the experiences with East Asian nations.
