From the editor...

Apologies from the not quite acting editor —Dian Moore Since our editor and his computer are both laid up I agreed to put out this issue of the newsletter. It was to be both late and utilitarian. I had four pages ready with use of scissors and copy machine when Bill Helling rescued this

damsel in distress and took over. Thank you, Bill. The Friends of the Library, with Doris Jones as liaison, have donated a third microfilm reader. It is in the row with the others and loads much like the older machine with the newer film carriage that is with the lift up glass plate. It is not attached to the printer but rather to the library computers. The im-age on the screen can be cropped, enlarge and generally fancied up and then sent to the copy machine or the black and white printer that serves the pub-lic computers. It can also be saved to disk or flash drive, or e mailed. Com-puter copies are $.10. We did not want patrons selecting microfilm readers on the basis of price so all microfilm copies are now $.10 also. This is a sav-

ings of 60%. The calendar of photos of old schools has also been marked down and can

now be purchased for $5.00. We wish speedy recovery to Nelson and his computer.

Summarized by Linda Templin, Secretary The February, March, and April meetings of the Genealogy Club of Mont-gomery County, Corp. were held on the second Tuesday of each month in the Donnelley Room of the Crawfordsville District Public Library. Judy Har-vey, 2009 President, presided over the meetings. The minutes were pre-sented in written form, approved/corrected, and passed. The Treasurer's re-ports were given. The Club now has 48 members including two families and

one institutional member. The Club sold 2009 calendars with pictures of historic schools of Montgom-ery County. There are still some calendars available at the CDPL. Club mem-bers are asked to present possible themes for the next year's calendar. The

possibility of old bridges has been suggested. The Club and the Veterans Services of Montgomery County are preparing plans for the re-dedication ceremony of the O'Neall Cemetery on June 13 at

10 am. The restoration project of the cemetery will be completed this spring. Club members are encouraged to join invited dignitaries for the ceremony. Many thanks and appreciation are extended to Kim Hancock, chairman of the restoration, and to here dedicated helpers. Many volunteered hours have been given to this project by all of them. Any questions regarding the re-

dedication may be routed to Alberta Krout, chairman of the ceremony. The club is in the process of collecting the genealogical pedigree charts (vertical form) from each club member. Please give a copy of your personal

pedigree chart to Dian Moore. Doris Jones has accepted the Refreshment Committee Chairman position for the rest of the year. She is looking for volunteers for refreshments at the

club meetings. If you are able to help, please contact her. Ruth Evans, Activity directory, continued to arrange interesting programs for each meeting. In February, Dr. Greg Redding from Wabash College gave a presentation on "Indiana's German Legacy." Jim Swift presented "Indiana Pio-neer (Wagon) Roads" in March. For April Larry Truitt gave a presentation on

1830-1840 Quaker Migration to Indiana. In the next quarter the Club will meet at 7 pm in the CDPL on May 12, June

9, and July 14. The next After Hours Workshop is scheduled for July 24.

by Dian Moore Every fourth grader knows that April showers bring may flowers and May-flowers bring pilgrims. Since this is May I offer pilgrims. I have looked at all these books and have not listed the ones that are too superficial to be of use. I have included some children's book because many include real solid

information. The Dedication of the Veterans Stone at O'Neall Cemetery and celebration of our clean up accomplish-ments went off without a hitch. We had six people attending who claimed relationship to people buried there and 74 people signed the guest book. Kim Han-cock and her many helpers deserve there own salute.

Maybe we can stampede the cattle again.
