● Dating back to 1889, The Rose Bowl Parade is one of the most recognized, and celebrated New Years Day events in American history.

● This ‘festival of flowers’ requires 935 volunteers to put in about 80,000 man hours a year, in order to display around 44 floats, 12 marching bands, and a select few equestrians.

● In 2014, those selected to participate in the parade gained the attention of 54,800,000 American viewers and an estimated 25,000,000 internationally.

History of The Rose Parade

● The WVU Children’s Hospital, located in Morgantown, West Virginia is a first choice hospital for families across West Virginia.

● The Children’s Hospital has provided the high standard of specialty care available only at academic medical centers around the country, since 1984.

● The Hospital requires funding and growth beyond their current means, making the Rose Bowl Parade a unique opportunity to market their cause.

History of the WVU Children’s Hospital

● The hospital administration commissioned the award winning Phoenix Decorating Company to build the float from the ground up.

● The 2016 theme is “Find your Adventure.” This theme will act as our core foundation for development and progression of our creative concepts.

Float Design & Theme

● The fundraising committee has decided to take a spin on the 2016 Rose Parade theme with the tagline, “Join Your Adventure”.

● Our key message stems from our mission to showcase the beautiful landmarks and heritage of West Virginia, as well as integrate the 55 counties and their honorable state pride in the float design.

● For $15, donors can purchase a Miracle Rose, which is a rose in a vial that will be placed on the float with a personal message and/or dedication.
