Rose is betrothed to one she does not love, and wants to escape from the marriage that is destined to happen.Her father, a wealthy banker is away for a weekend, and Rose sees her chance to leave her life of unhappiness forever.

What happens?

Page 3: Rose

As she leaves her home, she bumps into a William, a young man who has just started as a gardener at her property. Rose finds instant trust in him and tells him everything. William convinces her that leaving would not be the best option and that she should stay.

Over time, the two become inseparable and Rose falls in love with William. Unfortunately, her father has seen everything that has occurred and decides to put an end to it. He threatens William that he will lose his job.

He isolates Rose, and she becomes as unhappy as she was the first time. For the last time, she leaves her home. William realises this and sees how selfish he has been. He hurries for the train station, and catches her just in time. They embrace, and leave together for a new life.

Rose is more suited to a female audience, probably middle class and aged 30 plus.

This is because romance is a very feminine genre, also the style of the film, appeals to an older generation.

Mood & AtmosphereWe are trying

to create several different moods within the piece, for example, in some areas it will be happy and comedic, and in others it will be sad and dramatic. Also at times quite melodramatic.

How is Rose unique?

Our short film is unique for many reasons:

It is in black and white, except for one key item, the rose.

It is a silent movie, this is very un common in recent years, and unique for the time period.
