Roseville College Foundation

The Roseville College Foundation assists the school in preserving, maintaining and developing its educational facilities and standards. It aims to align the school community’s resources and goodwill for the continuing operation and long-term development of the school. The objectives of the Foundation are, in summary, to:

n Create and establish funds for the benefit of the school by way of donations, gifts, bequests

n Hold and invest such funds as necessary

n Use funds for: building projects, scholarships, bursaries, technology/books, sporting facilities, school environment

Roseville College was founded in 1908 and it was the wish of Miss Isobel Davies, our first Principal, that her school provide the best possible education for each student entrusted to its care.

Supported generously by parents, alumnae, staff and friends, the College remains committed to providing each girl with the opportunity to develop her intellectual, cultural, physical, emotional and spiritual strengths and talents in an outstanding educational environment. The wonderful commitment of the Roseville College community helps us to achieve our goals.

Roseville College’s Vision is to encourage and enable every girl to reach her potential, and nurture her towards being a woman rich in character, wisdom, faith and action, with a heartfelt commitment to service within the wider community. Our Mission is to provide girls with a contemporary, dynamic and relevant learning experience marked by a passion for excellence, and grounded in the ethos and values of the Christian faith.

Roseville College relies on the collective philanthropy of parents, alumnae, staff and friends. Your support will ensure that the school can direct funds to vital projects that otherwise might not receive funding. Giving to Roseville College allows you to invest in the future of girls who attend our school, leaving a legacy for generations of young women to come. Most gifts provide the donor with tax benefits, and Roseville College with critical resources to fulfil its vision and mission.

we are thankful for the collective philanthropy of parents, alumnae, staff and friends

n new Middle School and Junior School

n new Science and Language laboratories

n Music and Drama rehearsal spaces

n Creative Arts Complex

These are typical of projects that the Building Fund supports and through further help from our community, we will be able to provide ongoing state-of-the-art facilities that will enhance the learning experience of current and future students of Roseville College.

Library FundThe Library Fund was established to promote and assist the public library at our school. Donations made to the Library Fund will be used to improve our Library’s facilities and enhance educational opportunities for our girls.

All donations to the Library Fund are tax deductible.

Scholarship FundThe trustee for the Roseville College Scholarship Fund receives donations which are then used to provide scholarships to girls wishing to attend, or who already attend, Roseville College. These scholarships acknowledge and encourage excellence in academics, music, sport and all-rounder fields.

All donations to the Scholarship Fund are tax deductible.

Education FundThe Education Fund was established to promote education and learning. Our Bursary Program operates through this fund and its aim is to provide support for students, at our school, who may be experiencing personal or financial hardship. The Roseville College culture is characterised by a sense of “thankfulness” and families from our community extend their generosity to provide support for others.

Donations to the Education Fund are not tax deductible.

The 1908 FellowshipThe 1908 Fellowship has been established to honour and recognise those who have remembered Roseville College in their Will. Making a Will is about ensuring the people and causes you hold dear are treated the way you would wish, whilst still enjoying your assets during your lifetime. Besides family and friends, you may also wish to remember those schools and activities which have been important to you. A bequest is the key to ensuring that what you have valued will continue to grow in the future.

“What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for our community lives long after we’re gone” - Theodore Roosevelt

the Fellowship was established to honour those remembering the school in their Will

Making a Bequest

A bequest is a gift contained within a Will and specifically reserves part of an estate for a particular beneficiary. Bequests can be made in a variety of ways to reflect a donor’s wishes. They can be defined personal assets such as bonds, property, fixed amounts or a percentage of an estate.

A bequest makes an especially valuable contribution to the long-term planning for Roseville College. Bequests can be directed to the school for use at its discretion. Such unencumbered gifts allow the school the flexibility to use donations in areas of particular need.

Alternatively, bequests can be directed to a specific area of the school such as:

n Funding scholarships for disadvantaged and/or outstanding students

n Construction of new buildings

n Launching new programs

n Equipping specialist facilities, i.e. Science laboratories

n Enhancing Library collections

n Facilitating sport activities

To ensure that your Will fulfils your intentions, it is advisable that it be drawn by a solicitor or a Trustee Company. This will ensure the wording used is appropriate for the bequest you wish to make, and for your particular situation. We also recommend you involve your family in your decision to make a gift to Roseville College. You might like to consider the following wording which can easily be added to your existing will:

I give to Roseville College, Roseville, NSW ________________________________________________

______________________________________________________________________________

(description of bequest) and I direct that the receipt of the Principal or Business Manager shall be sufficient discharge to my Executor for this bequest.

Membership of the 1908 Fellowship is open to anyone who has made a bequest to Roseville College. It is important to us that we show our appreciation for your commitment and thoughtfulness and so we encourage you to let us know of your bequest or bequest intention. We will take great pleasure in welcoming you to the 1908 Fellowship. There is no obligation to notify us of the value of your bequest. If you wish, your bequest can be received anonymously.
