The wedding service was at the Olive Grove (think Richie McCaw), and the reception was at the Outlook, both magnificent venues. I was the only senior family member at the traditional “Stag” function, which ended with the traditional whipping! Before that, my son and I and his band of great mates went jet boating, luging, bowling, BBQing, and pubbing, taking from lunch time to midnight in Queenstown to fit it all in. There was also the occasional bevvy downed! We left the snow-capped The Remarkables to arrive back in Rotorua for rain and cold! So what I have done now is put the Suzuki in for its annual service - the weather doesn’t look like giving me a chance to blast out any cobwebs any time soon. The AGM date is coming ever closer, as is the Okataina Rally. Please keep focused on these, we should be having a great time, and making a success, of everything we are involved in. Please also keep the 9 th July free for our only fundraiser, the Swap Meet parking duty. Now I know that this is one event that is not an especially great time, but it should still be a success with good member involvement. The AGM gnome thing still bothers me. It will only work if we all dress like him/her! What if we confine the dressing of the gnome to something basically traditional? I am now on the lookout for a gnome that is already dressed in clothing we can copy, rather than try to paint the bare one we have. Pam & I have been so busy lately, not only enjoying our family events, but with multiple other things as well, so we haven’t progressed as far as we would have liked in this regard. We need help. A sales board I saw in Wanaka said, “A happy day is only a bike ride away“. Cherish that thought. Cheers, Flash Only seven weeks before the Masterton AGM!!! The above two are just a reminder that there is still time to register to join your fellow Ulyssians in Masterton. Do it NOW!!! A big thank you to the contributors to our newsletters each month. Without you guys it would be a pretty skinny publication – thanks again. A big thank you to Hartley for the great runs he organises. It’s a pity the weatherman hasn’t been kinder to us? AGENDA FOR BRANCH MEETING Sunday 26 February 2017 at 7pm

Present Apologies Previous Minutes Matters Arising Correspondence In / Out Finance Report Runs Report General Business: Coordinators’ Meeting Okataina Wairarapa 2017 AGM Dunedin 2018 AGM ACC Levies Update Christmas function Any other matters Sheriff Supper

Sorry, I am still out of the country which is a bit sad as I had hoped hubby and me would have been back by now. Hope you have had good, fine, hot weather like we are having. The only problem is that some days we are getting smoke from the NSW State around the Carwoola area where 15 homes have been destroyed costing the country over $15M. We had a great Christmas with family, except the Australian beer which is “crap” as against the NZ beer. In fact, hubby is starting to enjoy the Caruba and Coke that the Aussie seem to like? Looks as if a wheel fell of a charter Beechcraft plane this morning and ended up on fire in a warehouse somewhere in Melbourne. Near the Melbourne airport apparently. We should be back home next week, so will spy again on you lot and send a report to the old fellow who is the editor. His/her email bounced last month so must have a change of email address?

Up “n” Coming Rides

Top of the Bruce Ride Report Sunday 29th January One trike, with reliable Jack, and 4 bikes each ridden by Shaun, Murray, Hartley and Darryl, with Pauline as pillion, left Rotorua Lakefront at 9.30am on a perfect day. Destination was the Top of The Bruce Mt Ruapehu. We traveled via Atiamuri, across to Western Bays Road and down to Turangi for a fuel stop for Shaun. Then on to the Mountain for a bit of lunch. It was fine and warm up there. A group of other motorcyclists were up there and the usual tourists. We made our way back via SH1 with a stop at Taupo Lakefront for a cold drink as it was somewhat warmer there. Taupo was very busy but we managed to get good parking right next to a cafe. Conversation was interrupted by some very loud speedboats racing on the lake at one stage. Darryl and Pauline decided to take the long way home and went around to Ohakune and up to Turoa ski field and then on to Waiouru and back home via the Desert Road. A very enjoyable day out. One thing that we did encounter when riding behind a couple of cars was them crossing over the centre line on corners. It was not once but several times in each case. Glad to get past them as soon as we could. Report and pics by: Hartley Gray #6974

FUNNY BUSINESS An airplane was about to crash. There were 4 passengers on board, but only 3 parachutes. The 1st passenger said, “I am Steph Curry, the best NBA basketball player. The Warriors and my millions of fans need me, and I can’t afford to die”. So he took the 1st pack and left the plane. The 2nd passenger said, “I am Donald Trump. I am the newly-elected U.S. President, and I am the smartest President in American history so my people don’t want me to die.” So he took the 2nd pack and jumped out of the plane. The 3rd passenger, the Pope, said to the 4th passenger, a 10year old schoolboy. “My son, I am old and don’t have many years left, you have more years ahead so I will sacrifice my life and let you have the last parachute.

The little boy said, “That’s okay, your holiness, there’s a parachute left for you.

America’s smartest President took my schoolbag!!”

Here is a little Gnome who needs a brand new home We packaged him up and sent him away, to find a new place where he can stay. So take him in and see what you can do, we’ll leave the ideas all up to you. You might like him dressed in a theme from your area, something funny or something scarier But you must bring him back to the Ulysses National Rally, the one being held in the Wairarapa Valley.

The Branch that’s cloned to the best dressed gnome, will win the coveted trophy to take back home. So please don’t bring him back unpainted and bare, because if you come dressed the same…………well, we don’t want you there!!
