The objectives of the group shall be for the benefit of the general public

to:

Conserve, preserve, protect and improve the area known as

Belleisle Park;

Advance the education of those using the park by encouraging

sustainable and environmentally friendly use of the park;

Promote the benefit for visitors and for the local community of

South Ayrshire and it's environs without distinction of sex,

sexuality, political, religious or other opinions by associating the

local statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants

in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities,

or assist in the provision of facilities, in the interest of social

welfare for recreation and other leisure-time occupation to

enhance well being and quality of life.

Achievements

Formed in August 2010 we said "one of our primary functions is to

influence the management of areas within our concern and work towards

making improvements in partnership with South Ayrshire Council".

To achieve that goal we have and continue to do so:

Organize Public Meetings;

Successfully won an Awards For All grant of £9700 in 2012;

Purchased Bat&Bird boxes which have been located around the

Park;

Established contact with RSPB and Ayrshire Bat Society to

organise maintenance and monitoring of the boxes;

Purchased 2000 copper tree tags which SAC have placed in the

identification of trees;

Purchased recumbent bike and placed on the Old Racecourse

Playing Fields for public use;

Purchased hand made noticeboards & Shelter for the elderly-

awaiting placement in Belleisle;

Promote and support Belleisle Conservatory Limited;

Supported the sale of Belleisle House & continue to do so;

Participated in the Big Green Weekend on 6th October 2012 with

the Conservation Volunteers - Clearing Rhododendron bushes;

Promote use of Belleisle Park to the local and wider communities;

Established a Facebook and Contact List;

Supported and promoted LuvAyr Events in the Park;

Organized Boys Brigade practice on the lawn;

Nominated the Deer park for the Queen Elizabeth the 11 Field

Award

Contacted local Community Councils to promote Belleisle and

received Donations for day to day Expenses;

Written an article about the Friends of Belleisle and our activities

which was published in Allowway Parish Church magazine;

Attended Football Tournaments on the Old Racecourse promoting

Belleisle Estate and Gained support for upgrade of the Old

Racecourse Pavilion.

Our aims for the future of the park:

To work with South Ayrshire Council and others to develop and

create facilities that meet the community and visitor needs.

Through public consultation the following were identified as

requirements:

Toilets

Cafe

Community Space

We recognise that the Stable Block would be an ideal building to

house all three and will work with South Ayrshire Council to secure

funding to develop the building.

Through our nomination of the Deer Park for Queen

Elizabeth II status we aim to raise funds to support the

continuation of deer in Belleisle.

We recognise that interpretation and education are important

areas to see developed in the Park and will work with South

Ayrshire Council & other stakeholders to encourage its

development.

We have growing support by way of facebook and email contact list

and hope to achieve our goals with the help of the many Friends ofBelleisle.
