Getting Acquainted Congratulations on your purchase o the RP250. You now have an incredibly advanced modelingguitar processor that can keep up with your creative impulses and even increase them. Armedwith DigiTech®’s patented AudioDNA2® custom audio DSP chip, the RP250 gives you a hugeselection o tones and eects, right at your ingertips. When you easily dial up a tone or eectrom the Tone Library or the Eects Library, you’ll appreciate the accuracy in each model, and thedynamic interaction in each tone. Add USB support or computer recording and a built-in drummachine, and you have the RP250: the key to unlock your creative potential.

 About the RP250

Perormance ModeWhen you rst apply power to the RP250, it powers up in Perormance mode. Perormance modeprovides access to all o the presets within the RP250 via the Up and Down Footswitches.Knob 1 selects a tone rom the Tone Library,Knob2 selects an eect rom the Eects Library,Knob3 adjusts the Eects Level, and Knob 4 adjusts the Master Level (volume).

Bypass ModeThe RP250 presets can be bypassed via a true analog bypass circuit or a clean, unprocessed guitarsignal. To bypass the RP250, press both Footswitches simultaneously. The Display reads Bypass 

indicating the preset is bypassed. Press either Footswitch to exit Bypass and return the RP250to the last preset used.

Tuner ModeThe Tuner in the RP250 allows you to quickly tune or check the tuning on your guitar. EnterTuner mode by pressing and holding both Footswitches simultaneously. The Display briefyshows tuner indicating that you are in Tuner mode. To begin tuning, play a note on your guitar(a harmonic at the 12th ret usually works best). The Display shows the note being played. The

Matrix LEDs indicate whether you are sharp or fat. The top 5 red LEDs indicate the note is sharpand should be tuned down. The bottom 5 red LEDs indicate the note is fat and should be tunedup. The center green LED indicates the note is in tune. The output is muted in Tuner mode. TheExpression Pedal controls the guitar volume while tuning. Exit tuner mode by pressing either Footswitch.

In Tuner mode, you can change your tuning reerence. The deault actory setting is A=440 Hz(displayed as A=440). Rotating Knob 1 selects alternate dropped tunings. Alternate tunings are A= Ab, A = G, and A = Gb. The display window briefy fashes the current tuning reerence.

Tone Library (Knob 1)In Perormance mode, this knob selects a variety o genre-based amp tone deaults ranging romBlues to Metal to Country. Behind the scenes, the Compressor, Distortion, Amp/Cabinet model,and EQ are congured to create a specied tone with a single click o this knob. You can urtherrene the sound by editing the preset (see Editing/Creating Presets on page 16). Changing betweendierent Tone Library deaults does not change the Chorus/FX, Delay or Reverb, letting you ex-periment with dierent amp styles quickly in the context o the current eect chain.

Eects Library (Knob 2)In Perormance mode, this knob selects a variety o post-amplier model eect chains (Chorus,Chorus + Delay, Delay + Reverb, etc.). You can urther rene the sound by editing the preset (see

Editing/Creating Presets on page 16). Changing between dierent Eects Library deaults does notchange the Compressor, Distortion, Amp/Cabinet model, and EQ settings, letting you experimentwith dierent eect chains quickly in the context o the current amp tone.

Eects Level (Knob 3)In Perormance mode, this knob changes the relative level o the post-amp eects (Chorus/FX,Delay, and Reverb). This can be thought o as an eects mix control, where turning this knobclockwise increases the level o these eects and turning it counter-clockwise decreases the level

o these eects. Master Level (Knob 4)This knob controls the overall output volume o all o the RP250 (Presets, Drum Machine, andUSB playback).

PresetsPresets are named and numbered locations o programmed sounds which reside in the RP250.Presets are recalled with the Footswitches. The active eects in each preset are indicated bylighted LEDs in the Eect Matrix. The RP250 comes with 60 User presets (1-60) and 60 Fac-tory presets (61-120). The User presets are locations where your creations may be stored. TheFactory presets do not allow you to store any changes to them. From the actory, the 60 Userpresets are exact duplicates o the 60 Factory presets. This allows you to create your own presetswithout losing the sounds that came with the RP250.

The Tone Library knob, Effects Library knob, and Effects Level knob make it easy toquickly load preset tones, effects, and effects chains.

1. FootswitchesThese two Footswitches are used to select presets, access the Tuner, or bypass the RP250. TheFootswitch on the right will select the next preset up, and the Footswitch on the let will selectthe next preset down. Pressing both Footswitches together will bypass the currently selectedpreset. Pressing and holding both Footswitches will access the Tuner. Press either Footswitch toexit Bypass or Tuner mode.

2. Knobs 1-4These our knobs perorm various unctions, depending on which mode is currently active andwhat (i anything) is being edited. The unctions are listed below:

Tone Library (Knob 1)1. In Perormance mode, this knob selects rom a library o preset amp tones.

(See page 46 or a list o preset amp tones.)2. When editing a preset, this knob changes the Amp or Eect model or the selected row.3. When editing an Eect row, press this knob to turn on or bypass the eect.4. When the Drums row is selected, this knob selects the rst pattern o each drum pattern

style (Rock, Blues, Jazz, etc.).

EffectsLibrary(Knob2)1. In Perormance mode, this knob selects rom a library o preset eect congurations. (See

page 47 or a list o preset eect congurations.)2. When editing a preset, this knob modies the parameter listed in the column

3. When the Drums row is selected, this knob adjusts the drum machine playback level.4. When the Expression row is selected, this knob sets the toe value or the Expression

Pedal.

3. Edit buttonsThese buttons navigate up and down the matrix, selecting the row o parameters which the

knobs will edit. Press one o these buttons to step through the Eect rows, and return to thepreset name display. See page 16 or more inormation about editing presets.

4. Matrix The matrix provides inormation regarding the current preset and parameter edit unctions. InPerormance mode, the LEDs running down the let side o the Matrix provide a visual indicationo which eects are in use or the currently selected preset. While editing a preset, the LEDs

indicate the Eect row currently selected or editing. In Tuner mode, the LEDs indicate whetherthe note played is sharp, lat, or in tune.

5. Display The Display provides inormation or dierent unctions depending on the mode that has beenselected. In Perormance mode, the Display will show the currently selected preset name andnumber. In Edit mode, the Display will show the name and value o the parameter being adjusted.

In Tuner mode, the Display will show the note played.

6. DrumsThe Drums button is used to turn on and o the RP250’s built-in drum machine. When theDrums button is turned on, the Drums LED lights and the selected drum pattern plays continu-ously. Select the Drums row using the Edit buttons and use Knobs 1-4 to change the style,pattern, tempo, and level o the drum machine. See page 38 or more inormation about the drum

machine and a list o patterns.

7. StoreThe Store button is used to save your custom edits to the user presets. See page 17 or moreinormation about storing presets.

8. Expression Pedal

The Expression Pedal provides real-time control o the RP250’s Volume, Wah, or the assignedeect parameter. Almost every parameter is available or Expression Pedal control. TheExpression Pedal is equipped with a V-switch that activates or deactivates the Wah eature whenyou apply extra pressure to the toe. See page 20 or more inormation about Wah models; seepage 41 to learn about adjusting V-switch sensitivity and calibrating the Expression Pedal; reer topages 44-45 or a list o parameters you can link to the Expression Pedal.

1. InputConnect your instrument to this high-impedance TS input.

2. Amp / Mixer This button optimizes the RP250’s outputs or use when plugged into a guitar amp or a mixer/

recording device. When set to Mixer (“In” position), speaker compensation is turned on and theoutputs are optimized or connecting to a mixer, recording device or headphones. When set toAmp (“Out” position), the outputs are optimized or running directly in to the input o a guitaramp.

3. Let (Mono) and Right OutputsConnect the Let (Mono) output to the input o a single ampliier (or mixer input) or mono

operation. Connect the Let and Right outputs to the inputs o 2 ampliiers (or 2 mixer channels)or stereo operation.

4. HeadphonesConnect a pair o stereo headphones to this 1/8" jack. For proper requency response, the Amp/Mixer switch should be set to Mixer (“In” position) when using headphones.

Note: The Headphones output can have either a mono or stereo signal, depending on what 1/4"outputs are connected. I neither (or both) 1/4" outputs are connected, the Headphones outputwill be in stereo. I a cable is connected to the Let (Mono) 1/4" output only, the Headphonesoutput will be in mono.

5. Aux InConnect the headphone output o an MP3 or CD player using a stereo 1/8" cable to this 1/8"

stereo TRS jack or rehearsing with your avorite pre-recorded material. Adjust the output levelo your playback device and the RP250’s Master Level knob or the proper volume balance.

6. USB PortThe USB port is or connecting the RP250 to a computer and serves two purposes: (1) or usewith the downloadable X-Edit™ Editor/Librarian sotware, and (2) or streaming audio to androm the computer. Audio streaming is limited to 2 channels up and 2 channels down rom the

computer at 44.1kHz, 16 bit and 24 bit. A utility panel in the Editor/Librarian controls the direct/playback mix with any recording sotware the RP250 is connected to.

Getting Started

 Making ConnectionsThere are several dierent connection options available with the RP250. Beore connecting theRP250, make sure that the power to your amplier and the RP250 is turned o. There is nopower switch on the RP250. To turn the RP250 on or o, connect or disconnect the includedPS0913B power supply rom the Power Input jack.

 Mono Operation - Amplifer Connect your guitar to the Input o the RP250. Connect a single mono instrument cable rom

the Left (Mono) output o the RP250 to the instrument input or eect return on your amplier.Set the Amp/Mixer switch to Amp.

Stereo OperationFor stereo operation connect the guitar to the Input o the RP250. Connect one cable to theRP250’s Left (Mono) output, and another cable to the RP250’s Right output. Connect one cableto the input o one amplier, channel o a mixer, or power amp. Connect the second cable to a

second amplier, second channel o a mixer, or power amp. I connecting to a mixing console, setthe pan controls o the mixer channels hard let and right in order to retain stereo separation. I connecting to a mixer, set the Amp/Mixer switch to Mixer. I connecting to two ampliers, setthe Amp/Mixer switch to Amp.

 Applying Power Beore applying power to anything, set your amp(s) to a clean tone and set the tone controls toa fat EQ response (on most amps, this would be 0 or 5 on the tone controls). Then ollow thesteps listed below.

1. Turn the amp volume all the way down.2. Connect the plug o the PS0913B power supply to the power jack on the rear panel o the

RP250.3. Connect the other end o the PS0913B power supply to an AC outlet. Turn the RP250’s Mas-

ter Level knob (Knob 4) down to “0”.4. Turn the power o your amplier(s) to the on position and adjust the volume(s) to a normal

playing level.5. Gradually increase the RP250’s Master Level knob to achieve the desired volume.

Section Two - Editing Functions

Editing/Creating Presets

The RP250 is designed to make preset editing and creation easy and intuitive. When creatingyour own sound, you must irst start with an existing preset. Note that the preset you beginwith doesn’t have to be in the memory location you intend to have it reside, since you can storeit to any User preset location during the store procedure.

The easiest way to start is by using the Tone Library and Effects Library knobs. The ToneLibrary knob will let you select rom a variety o pre-programmed amp/distortion tones (seepage 46) based on dierent musical styles. The Effects Library knob will then let you select

rom a palette o eects chains (see page 47), rom simple delays to ull multi-eect signals withmodulation, delay and reverb. Use the Effects Level Knob to easily increase or decrease theChorus/FX, Delay and Reverb levels i desired. Using these three controls should get you closeto a sound you are ater. From there you can then use the Edit buttons to navigate through theindividual eects or some ine tune edits.

To edit and create a preset:1. Use the Footswitches to select the preset you wish to edit.

2. I you are trying to nd something dierent rom the existing presets, begin by using the ToneLibrary, Effects Library and Effects Level knobs to get close to a sound you want.

3. Press the Edit Up/Down buttons to begin selecting the individual Eects rows to edit theirparameters.

4. To bypass or enable an Eect row, press the Tone Library knob.5. Use Knobs2-4 to modiy the eects’ parameter settings.6. Select the Pickup row and use Knob 4 to adjust the Preset Level.

Anytime a stored value within a preset is changed, the Store button LED lights up. This indicatesthat you need to store the changes. Changing presets, or turning the power o beore storing anychanges, erases any changes made and the RP250 will revert to the stored values or the preset.

Storing/Copying/Naming a PresetOnce the preset has been modied to your liking, you may store your settings to any o the60 User preset locations (presets 1-60). The ollowing steps outline the procedure or storingchanges to a preset or copying a preset to a dierent location:

1. Press the Store button once. The Store button LED blinks and the rst character in the Dis-play fashes, indicating that you can now name your custom creation.

2. Use Knob 1 to select the alpha-numeric character and Knob2 to select the next character

location.

ond stage o the storing process. The Display begins to fash.

4. Select the User preset location where your new sound will reside using the Up and Down Footswitches. The display alternates between showing the preset name and User preset num-ber about to be overwritten.

The procedure or copying one preset to another preset location is the same. Use the Foot-switches to select the preset that you want to copy, then ollow steps 1-4 or storing a preset asdescribed above. Press either Edit button at any time to abort the Store procedure.

Section Three - Models and Parameters About the ModelsThe RP250 can be thought o as several dierent “virtual” ampliers and individual, high-techstompboxes in a single programmable package. With stompboxes, the order in which they areconnected aects the overall sound. The RP250 has placed the Amp and Eect models in an orderor optimum results. The ollowing diagram shows the order in which they are connected.

 Model DefnitionsEach Amp and Eect model within the RP250 can be programmed to suit your personal tasteand application. Understanding how these components alter the sound, and how each parameteralters the eect, will help you achieve the sound you are looking or. The ollowing overview o theRP250’s eects outlines what each eect and parameter does.

PickupThe Pickup Simulator provides the thick tone o a humbucker pickup to a guitar with single coilpickups, or the bright, edgy sound o a single coil pickup to a guitar with a humbucker. This givesyou the best o both worlds without having to change guitars during a perormance.

Pickup Model - Knob 1 selects the Pickup model to be simulated. Values include: SC>Hb

(gives a single coil pickup the warm tone o a humbucker), and Hb>SC (gives a humbuckerthe unique sound o a single coil). Press this knob to turn Pickup modeling on and o.

Preset Level - Knob 4 adjusts the preset’s level.

Wah Wah is an eect controlled by an Expression Pedal making the guitar sound as i it’s saying “Wah.”

 Wah Model - Knob 1 selects the Wah model. Values include: FuLrnG (DigiTech® FullRange Wah sweeps the entire spectrum o audible requencies), CrYwah (Cry Wah is a tra-ditional sounding Wah), and clyd(based on a Vox® Clyde McCoyTM Wah). Press this knobto turn Wah models on and o.

 WahMinimum-Knob2 adjusts the Wah Pedal Minimum. Ranges rom 0 (toe up) to 99 (toe down).

 WahMaximum-Knob3 adjusts the Wah Pedal Maximum. Ranges rom 0 (toe up) to99 (toe down).

Compressor  

A Compressor is used to increase sustain, tighten up guitars, and prevent the signal rom clippingthe input o other eects. It sets a maximum boundary or the strength o a signal.

Comp Model - Knob 1 selects one o two Compressor models: DIGCMP (DigiTech® Compressor) or CSCOMP (Based on a Boss® CS-2 Compressor/Sustainer). Press this knobto turn the Compressor on and o.

Sustain-Knob2 adjusts the amount o sustain. Ranges rom 0 to 99.

Tone/Attack-Knob3 adjusts the tone or the DigiTech Compressor, or attack or theBoss CS-2. Ranges rom 0 to 99.

Compressor Level - Knob 4 adjusts the Level rom the Compressor. Ranges rom 0 to99.

Attack (X-EditTM only or DigiComp) - Adjusts the amount o time the Compressor takesto respond to a signal that exceeds the threshold. Ranges rom 0 to 99.

DistortionThe RP250 models the tones o 13 popular distortion stompboxes, each o which can be tweakedand modied, just like the real thing.

EQThe RP250’s EQ helps urther shape your tone with Bass, Midrange, and Treble controls. To helpget you started, there are our preset EQ curves: Mid Boost (midbs), Scoop (ScooP), Bright(Brigh), and Warm (WaM) that can be selected using Knob 1. Bass, Midrange, and Treble

parameters range rom -12dB to +12dB.

EQ Model - Knob 1 selects between 4 dierent EQ modes (Mid Boost, Scoop, Bright, andWarm), each with dierent requency centers or Mid and Treble. Pressing this knob turnsthe EQ on and o.

Bass-Knob2 adjusts the amount o low end level (Bass).

Mid - Knob3 adjusts the midrange level.

Mid Freq (X-EditTM only) - This parameter selects the requency that the Mid parameteradjusts. Ranges rom 300 Hz to 5000 Hz.

Treb - Knob 4 adjusts the high end level (Treble).

Treb Freq (X-Edit only) - This parameter selects the requency that the Treb parameter

adjusts. Ranges rom 500 Hz to 8000 Hz.

Noise GateA Noise Gate is designed to eliminate noise while you are not playing, or provide an auto volume

swell eect.

Gate Model - Knob 1 selects between the DigiTech® noise gate or the volume swell eect.Values include: ga (Selects the noise gate) and swell (Selects the volume swell eect.)

Press this knob to turn the noise gate on and o.Threshold/SwellSensitivity-Knob2 sets the signal strength (Threshold) required to

AttackTime-Knob3 sets the attack time. Ranges rom0

Release - Knob 4 sets the Release parameter. Ranges rom 0 to 99.

Attenuation (X-EditTM only) - Sets the Attenuation parameter. Ranges rom 0 to 99.

Chorus/FX The Chorus/FX row in the RP250 is a multi-unction module, allowing you to select Eect models

such as Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Tremolo, Panner, Vibrato, Rotary Speaker, YaYa™, AutoYa™,SynthTalk™, Envelope Filter (auto wah), Detune, Pitch Shit, and Whammy™ eects. When theChorus/FX row is selected, Knob 1 is used to choose the Eect model. Press this knob to turnthese Eect models on and o. Only one o the eects in this row can be used at a time. Aterselecting the type o eect in this module,Knobs2-4 can then be used to adjust the individualparameters associated with the selected eect. The ollowing list describes each Eect model andits parameters in more detail:

ChorusA Chorus adds a short delay to your signal. The delayed signal is modulated in and out o tuneand then mixed back with the original signal to create a thicker sound. The RP250 includes theollowing Chorus Eect models: Ce CHS (based on the classic Boss® CE-2 Chorus),CHOruS (DigiTech®’s Dual Chorus), and MCHOrS (DigiTech’s amous Multi Chorus®).

Speed-Knob2 adjusts the rate (Speed) o the modulation. Ranges rom 0 to 99.Depth-Knob3 adjusts the Depth o the modulation. Ranges rom 0 to 99.

FlangerA Flanger uses the same principle as a Chorus but uses a shorter delay time and adds regeneration(or repeats) to the modulating delay. This results in an exaggerated up and down sweeping motionto the eect. The RP250 includes the ollowing Flanger Eect models: fLag (the DigiTechFlanger), and mxFLg (based on an MXR® Flanger).

Phaser (PHasr)A phaser splits the incoming signal, and then changes the phasing o the signal. This signal is thentaken in and out o phase and mixed back in with the original signal. As the phasing changes, dier-ent requencies get canceled resulting in a warm sort o twisting sound.

Rotary Speaker (rOtArY)Rotary Speaker is an emulation o a device that included a spinning horn and wooer. The rotationo these two speakers produced an interesting combination o the sound panning rom side toside. This produced a slight pitch change due to the speed o the sound coming towards, and thengoing away rom the listener.

Speed-Knob2 adjusts the rate (Speed) o the spinning speakers. Ranges rom 0 to 99.

Intensity-Knob3 controls the intensity o the eect. Ranges rom 0 to 99.

Doppler - Knob 4 controls the Pitch Shit eect that is the ratio between the horn and therotor positions. Ranges rom 0 to 99.

Crossover (X-EditTM

only)- Selects the crossover requency between the horn and rotor.Ranges rom 0 (200 Hz) to 99 (1600 Hz).

VibroPan (vibpa)A vibrato is an eect that modulates the pitch o the incoming signal. This will take the whole signalslightly in and out o tune at a steady pace. The VibroPan also incorporates an automatic pannerwith the vibrato eect that creates a lush chorus-like sound.

Speed - Knob2 adjusts how ast the signal is being modulated.

Depth - Knob3 adjusts the amount o pitch change.

Vibrato/Pan- Knob 4 adjusts the amount o panning incorporated with the vibrato eect.When the “Vib” control is at “0”, this eect is a standard vibrato. As the Level parameter isturned up, the phase dierence o the vibrato signal sent to the two channels is changed untila ull stereo image is obtained at “99”.

 Waveform (X-EditTM only) - Selects a waveorm: iag, Si, or Sqa.

Tremolo (trMoLO)A Tremolo eect modulates the volume o the signal at an even rate.

AutoYa™ (AutOYA

)An AutoYa combines the characteristics o a Wah and a Flanger together creating an almost humanvowel characteristic as i the guitar were saying “Yah.” The AutoYa™ automatically provides thisanimation to the sound at an even rate.

Speed-Knob2 adjusts the speed o the AutoYa sweep. Ranges rom 0 to 99.

Intensity-Knob3 adjusts the intensity o the AutoYa eect. Ranges rom 0 to 99.

Range - Knob 4 adjusts the throaty quality o the AutoYa eect. Ranges rom 0 to 49.

YaYa™ (yaya)The YaYa is another eect exclusive to DigiTech® products. Like the AutoYa™, it combines thecharacteristics o a wah and a fanger together providing a unique talk box type o eect, but iscontrolled by the Expression Pedal.Pedal-Knob2 adjusts the Ya pedal position. Ranges rom 0 to 99.

DigiTech Whammy™ (wHammy)The DigiTech WhammyTM is an eect that uses an Expression Pedal to bend the pitch o the in-

coming signal, or add a bendable harmony with the original signal. As the Pedal is moved, the notebends either up or down. When DigiTech Whammy is selected, it is automatically placed beorethe Amp modeling as shown in the block diagram on page 19.

Pitch Shift (PiCH)A Pitch Shiter copies the incoming signal, then shits the pitch o the copy to a dierent note. Theshited note is then mixed back with the original signal, sounding as i two guitars were playingdierent notes.

ShiftAmount-Knob2 selects the interval o the shited pitch. Ranges rom -24 (2octaves below) to 24 (2 octaves above).

Mix - Knob 4 controls the mix level o the shited pitch. Ranges rom 0 to 99.

Detune (Dun)A Detuner makes a copy o your incoming signal, takes the copied signal slightly out o tune romthe original, then mixes the two signals together. The result is a doubling type o eect as i twoguitars were playing the same part together.

ShiftAmount-Knob2 adjusts the amount o pitch dierence applied to the copied signal.

Delay  Delay is an eect that will record a portion o the incoming signal, and then play it back a shorttime later. The recording can repeat just once or several times.

Duck Thresh (X-EditTM only) - Adjusts the level the input signal must reach beore thedelayed signal is attenuated. Ranges rom 0 to 99.

Depth (X-Edit only) - Adjusts the intensity o the modulation (chorusing) in the delayrepeats. Ranges rom 0 to 99.

 Wow (X-Edit only) - Adjusts low requency modulation (below about 6 Hz) that would becaused by tape speed variation. Ranges rom 0 to 99.

Duck Level (X-Edit only) - Adjusts the amount o attenuation applied to the delayed signal.Ranges rom 0 to 99.

Flutter (X-Edit only) - Adjusts a higher requency modulation (rom about 6 to 30 Hz) thatwould be caused by tape speed variation. Ranges rom 0 to 99.

Reverb Using reverb in recorded program material gives the listener a sense that the material is being per-ormed in an actual room or hall. It is this similarity to actual acoustic spaces that makes reverber-ation a useul tool in recorded music. The RP250 eatures genuine Lexicon® reverbs, whose rich,lush eects have been heard in countless songs, soundtracks, and live perormances or decades.

Section Four - Other Functions

Drum Machine

The RP250 includes a built-in drum machine loaded with 60 useul patterns and 5 metronome set-tings that are easily accessible at the touch o a button (the Drums button, specically). Pressingthe Drums button will enable the drum machine and start playback o the selected drum pattern(except when in Store or Bypass mode). When the Drums row is selected (using the Edit but-tons), Knob 1 scrolls through the rst patterns or each drum style,Knob2 scrolls through allthe drum patterns,Knob3 adjusts the Tempo o the drum pattern and Knob 4 adjusts the Levelo the drum pattern. Press the Drums button again to stop playback o the drum loop.

 Aux InputThe Aux Input allows you to connect an MP3 or CD player to the RP250 and jam with your avor-ite artists. The signal rom your MP3 or CD player is output through the let, right, and headphoneoutputs o the RP250. To use the Aux Input, connect the headphone output o your MP3 or CD

player to the Aux Input on the rear panel o the RP250 using an 1/8" stereo cable, and pressplay on your MP3 or CD player. Use the playing device’s volume control and the RP250’s MasterLevel knob to balance the levels.

Expression PedalThe Expression Pedal on the RP250 can be linked to control the RP250’s Volume, Wah, Wham-my™, YaYa™, or almost any o the RP250’s other parameters in real time with your oot. When

a parameter has been linked to the Expression Pedal, a minimum (heel) and maximum (toe) valuecan also be specied. Apply extra pressure to the toe o the Expression Pedal to activate theV-switch, and the Expression Pedal switches between the linked parameter and the Wah. Theprocedure or linking a parameter to the Expression Pedal is as ollows:

1. Press either Edit button until the Expression row has been selected (indicated by the LED light-ing on the Expression row). eXP appears in the display.

2. Rotate Knob2 until the desired parameter appears in the Display. See page 44 or a completelist o parameters that can be linked to the Expression Pedal.

3. Rotate Knob3 to select the minimum (heel) value the assigned parameter will reach with theExpression Pedal in the toe up position.

4. Rotate Knob 4 to select the maximum (toe) value the assigned parameter will reach with theExpression Pedal in the toe down position.

5. Store your Expression Pedal assignment to your preset. See page 17 or more inormation onthe storing procedure.

Factory ResetThis unction resets the RP250 to its original actory settings. This procedure erases all customUser presets, and recalibrates the Expression Pedal.

ATTENTION: Performing this function will erase all user-programmed data. Allsuchdatawillbelostforever!Besureyouwanttoerasethememoryandstartfresh

before continuing with this procedure.

The procedure or perorming a Factory Reset is as ollows:

1. Press and hold the Store button while powering up the RP250.2. When the display prompts you with FACrSt, release the Store button, which is now fashing.3. Press and hold the fashing Store button or 3 seconds until rStOrD appears in the display and

release (The Factory Reset procedure takes approximately 20 seconds). The Expression Pedalcalibration procedure now commences.

Expression Pedal CalibrationThe Expression Pedal on the RP250 needs to be recalibrated or use ater a actory reset has beenperormed. This calibration procedure is automatically entered ater a actory reset procedure.(You can also initiate the calibration procedure by pressing and holding both Footswitches or

approximately 5 seconds.) In the event the Pedal’s calibration ails, or i the Pedal does not unctionproperly, it can be re-calibrated using the Pedal Calibration procedure. This will not erase the Userpresets. The procedure or Calibrating the Expression Pedal is as ollows:

1. Press and hold the Up/Down Footswitches until PDLCAL appears in the display (BYPASS andtuner will be displayed beore PDLCAL is accessed)

2. When the Display prompts you with tOe Dn, rock the Expression Pedal orward (toe down)and press either Footswitch.

3. When the Display prompts you withtOe uP

, rock the Expression Pedal back (toe up) andpress either Footswitch.4. The Display now prompts you to calibrate the V-Switch sensitivity (VSwxxx), where XXX is the

current V-Switch threshold. Rock the Expression Pedal orward and press rmly on the toeonce to turn the V-Switch on (wah On), and again to turn the V-Switch o (wahOFF).

5. I the V-Switch is too sensitive, press the right Up Footswitch to raise the threshold (range is0-200). Keep testing the V-Switch sensitivity and adjust the threshold until it only engages whenyou want it to (too sensitive a setting will lead to the V-Switch alsely triggering on or o when

using the Expression Pedal).6. When the V-Switch sensitivity is set to your satisaction, press both Up/Down Footswitches 

simultaneously to exit.

Note: If the Display shows errOr,anerrorhasoccurredandsteps2through5shouldbe repeated.
