• Technology and Applications

– Continuous expansion of the roles of RPA as technology improves, allowing extreme long flight durations, reduced operational costs, among other benefits.

– Examples of applications: enforcement, homeland security, environmental analysis, infrastructure inspection, agriculture, ...

• Need of Regulation – ALoS

– Operations alongside manned aircraft in non-segregated airspace is the goal, and involves several prerequisites in order to be achieved whilst providing the acceptable level of safety.

– Notwithstanding the fact that ICAO has not yet adopted SARPs, States (CAA) must take the necessary measures to assure safety.
