INTRODUCTION:At the request of Mr. Tom Drivas of ARTISAN
GOLD INC. , a total field magnetic survey and a V.L.F. electromagnetic survey was conducted over a portion their McGruer Lake holdings. The surveys were conducted by Mr. J. Gerdes of Wawa Ont.Previous sampling adjacent to the property yielded
anomalously high gold assays.(1985 Ontario Gold Venture) The objective of the present surveys was to delineate strutures which may be favourable for gold mineralization.
SURVEY PARAMETERS, PRESENTATION OF RESULTS:
MAGNETIC:The magnetic survey was performed using a Geeometrics
816 proton magnetometer which measures the total field.Readings were taken every 10 meters on lines spaced 100 meters apart. A base station was established at line HE station 0+00 and the results corrected for diurnal variation. The results are presented on l plan map in contour form on a scale of 1:2000.
V.L.F.:The V.L.F. survey was conducted using a Geonics EM-16 receiver. Readings were taken every 10 meters on lines spaced 100 meters apart. The transmitting station was Cutler Maine (24.0 KHz.).Both inphase and quadrature response were recorded and plotted in profile form. Conductor axes are indicated on the plan map. Conductor are labelled "A,B" etc. No priority is implied in the use of a label. It is for identification purposes only.
DISCUSSION OF RESULTS:
MAGNETIC:The data indicates an area of considerable magnetic
relief. The dominant feature is a series of of narrow parallel magnetic highs striking east-west along the southern boundary. This is due to an iron formation. Dis tortions in the magnetic trend are evident at L5E-L6E possibly due to folding. An irregular pattern of magnetic highs is seen at the
northern portion of the survey grid. It is possible that is continuous from LO to L12E, but no information is pre sent from LIE to L6E.A contact is seen at approximately the 1000 gamma contour.
This is interpreted as a metasedimentary- meta volcanic boundary, with the metasediments lying to the west and south of this boundary.
V.L.F. :Due to the very high frequencies (24.0 KHz.) employed in
V.L.F. surveying the effect near surface conductors can be very pronounced; as with any dip angle technique, the effect of multiple conductors can make the location of conductor axes imprecise. The V.L.F. data indicates numerous conductors striking east-
west. These are summarized as follows:Conductor A is associated with a magnetic high, possibly iron formation to the north of the grid.Conductor B strikes east-west and is not associated with a magnetic trend.Conductor C parallels the iron formation at the southern boundary.Conductor D is associated with a moderate magnetic high, possibly a geologic contact.Conductors E and F are associated with a magnetic high. Conductor G parallels the iron formation to the south. Conductor H is a small amplitude anomaly associated with amoderate magnetic high.V.L.F. data does not readily lend itself to quantitative analysis. Estimates of conductivity-thickness, depth, and dip would be better determined using a horizontal loop e.m. system.

CONCLUSIONS:'The magnetic data indicates two main rock types present. The contact at the north may be marked by iron formation.Banded iron formation exists at the southern
boundary. The V.L.F. survey has outlined numerous con
ductors and further work is warranted to better determine the significance of these zones.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1) Lines IE, 2E, 3E, 4E, 5E be extended to station 10+00 North.
2) Additional geophysics, preferably induced, polarization be conducted to better deter mine the nature of the V.L.F. conductors detected. The survey should concentrate on lines 3E, 4E and 10E.
3) A geochemical surveyed be performed.
Respectfully submitted,i

McGRUER LAKE CLAIMS
RECEIVED
SEP l 9 1996
MINING LANDS
Location and Access: The McGruer lake area is in the north part of the Caribou lake greenstone bell, on its northern rim. It is 48 km northwest of the Musselwhite gold deposits. Access to the area is by float or ski aircraft from the town of Pickle Lake, 170 km south of McGruer Lake.
Mineral Exploration Target: GOLD - hosted by: arsenopyrite-tourmaline quartz veins in clastic metasediments; deformed quartz veins in iron formation; and sulphide mineralization in shear zones.
Geological Setting: The McGruer Lake property straddles an east striking contact between mafic metavolcanics of the North Rim Metavolcanics of the North Caribou Lake greenstone belt and the clastic metasediments of the synformal core of the greenstone belt, to the south. The metavolcanics are mainly massive and pillowed, fine to medium grained flows. Small gabbro intrusions are within the metavolcanics. The mafic rocks also contain minor chert-grunerite-magnetite iron formation near the metasediment contact. The metasedimentary rocks of the property are conglomerates and mudstones. All units are subvertical and highly deformed in the contact zone.
Exploration History: In 1985, Aerodat Limited flew a helicopter magnetic and electromagnetic survey of the North Caribou Lake greenstone belt. The property is covered by OGS Map 80720. Strong linear conductive zones surround McGruer lake and strike east along the north and south boundaries of the west and central parts of the property. The southern conductive zones are coincident with an irregular pattern of magnetic highs. In 1985, Ontario Gold Joint Venture conducted an electromagnetic survey, geological mapping, and drilling on a claim block south of McGruer Lake that included the property southwest of the west end of McGruer Lake. The project sampled 35 m strike length of a 120 m wide - - shear zone and obtained 5.1 g gold/tonne from massive to disseminated arsenopyrite in cherty iron forma tion and clastic metasediments. Six drill holes adjacent to the property and south of McGruer Lake yielded 12 assays from 90 ppb to 630 ppb in schists and grunerite-magnetite iron formation. In 1986, M.D. Smith Consulting prospected and geologically mapped a claim block for Ingamar Exploration that included the northeast corner of McGruer Lake and a small part of the east end of the Romios property. Although no assays were reported from those areas, the survey did yield up to 460 ppb gold from bed rock sampling east of the property. In 1988, Phantom Exploration Services Ltd. conducted a ground magnetic and electromagnetic survey, for Golden Eagle Resources Inc. on the same area as M.D.Smith. They reported a magnetic (McGruer Lake Claims, Page 2) high at the east end of McGruer Lake. In 1988, additional prospecting by M.D. Smith reported gold assays of 0.17 and 0.32 oz./ton from a 30 cm wide quartz-tourmaline vein east of the property.

l ymmendations: The outcrop area south of McGruer Lake should be prospected thoroughly and the entire property evaluated with an induced polarization survey. The projected strike of the gold-bearing shear zone south of McGruer Lake intersects the eastern and western extremities of the property and has not been drilled; an I.P. survey would refine target selection there and within the conductive zone north of McGruer Lake.
