General Rules

1. All schools must arrive for the registration by 8.00AM.

2. School may be disqualified for not adhering to the event rules.

3. School should confirm their participation by visiting on the registration link http://geekahertz.in/

4. For PUBG Competition, kindly register on bit.ly/PUBGsmsmb

5. The Last date for registration is November 15th, 2018.

6. Submission Date for all the preliminary categories is 16th November, 2019. List of Final round participants will be uploaded on our Facebook page and our website on Monday 18th November, 2019.

7. The participating teams are advised to keep visiting our website http://geekahertz.in/ and Facebook page for updates https://www.facebook.com/geekahertzsms.

8. The decision of the judges will be final and binding.

Rules and Regulations for the events

1. Gamers’ Paradise (GAME DESIGNING)

Teams per school: 1 Participants per team: 3-5 (One Female student Compulsory) Classes: 7-12

a) The event will be based on a topic which will be given on 5th November, 2019 on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/geekahertzsms or http://geekahertz.in/ ).

b) A trailer of the game should be uploaded on YouTube and the link of the video along with the participants’ details are to be sent to “[email protected]”.

c) Subject line must be “gamedesign_schoolname” and file name must be “school name.”

d) A total of 8 teams will be selected to take part in the finals. e) All finalists are required to bring their original source code, device and

software for the game. No team will be provided any hardware and software at the venue.

f) All the finalists will have to present their game on the spot to the judges and students will showcase their gameplay.

g) If any significant part of the design/model is found to be extracted from the internet, the team will be disqualified from the competition.

2. Markians’ League Gaming Teams per school: 1 Classes: 6-12 Participant(s) per team: 1

a) Participants will compete in a random game which will be revealed on the day of the competition itself.

b) Participants are allowed to bring their own peripherals to the competition like Game controller, Joystick Keyboard, or gaming mouse etc.

3. Web Coders (Web Designing) Teams per school: Open Participants per team: 2 (One Girl student Compulsory) Classes: 8-9

a. The event will be based on a topic which will be given on 5th November, 2019 on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/geekahertzsms ) or on our website i.e. http://geekahertz.in/

b. The students will be judged on the following criteria: i. Originality & Unique ideas ii. Creativity & Design Technical Skills iii. Easy-to-use

c. Students are required to submit the website to “[email protected]” Subject line must be “webcoders_schoolname” and file name must be “school name.”

d. A total of 10 teams will be selected for the final round. e. Time allotted for the Final Round will be 120 Minutes.

4. Lights Camera Action (Movie Making) Teams per school: Open Participants per team: 2-3 (One Girl student Compulsory) Classes: 8-10

a) The event will be based on the topic, “Secret of your city”. The movie should be uploaded on YouTube and the link of the video along with the participants’ details is to be sent to “[email protected]”.

b) Subject line must be “lightscameraaction_schoolname” and file name must be “school name.”

c) Students will be judged on ▪ Story line ▪ Creativity ▪ Originality ▪ Technicality of the movie.

d) All movies are to be given a suitable title and duration should be 4-5 minutes.

e) A total of 8 teams will be selected for the finals.

5. Snapshot (Photo Editing)

Teams per school: Open Participant(s) per team: 2 (One Girl student Compulsory) Software: Adobe Photoshop or any other free image editing software Classes: 9-12

a) In the Prelims, participants are required to edit, combine and/or create images and build a final composition based on a topic which will be given

on 5th November, 2019 on our Facebook page

(https://www.facebook.com/geekahertzsms ) or on our website i.e. http://geekahertz.in

b) Students must submit their creations (.psd and .jpg or .png) to “[email protected]” along with participant’s details.

c) Subject line must be “snapshot_schoolname” and file name must be “school name.”

d) A total of 12 teams will be selected for the final round. e) Time allotted for the Final Round will be 120 Minutes. f) Participants will be provided with the theme and raw data on the spot,

and will have to create their own composition.

6. Binary Masters (Programming)

Teams per school: Open Participant(s) per team: 2 Classes: 9-12 Languages: C++, Java or Python 3.0 onwards Platform: Online Software IDE

A. A preliminary round will be held for all students on 17th November, 2019 between 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm but the students will be allowed 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete the problems. For more information on preliminary round, stay connected with our Facebook page and our website. You can practice on codechef.com Preliminary Round Link will be shared on Facebook page. The top 15 teams will be shortlisted for the Final Round. The final rounds will be hands-on-computers.

B. The participants will be given 120 minutes to solve problems in final round. C. The problems will encompass themes of logic, reasoning and math.

7. Design.apk (Android App Designing) Teams per school: Open Participant(s) per team: 2 Classes: 9-12

a) Students will be required to make their own original app based on a topic

which will be declared on 5th November, 2019 on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/geekahertzsms ) or on our website i.e. http://geekahertz.in

b) Participants are requested to email their .APK file along with Source Code and trailer to “[email protected]” along with a YouTube link of the Software/App presentation trailer [Maximum 3 Minutes] and the participants’ details.

c) The top 6 teams will be called upon for presenting their App. d) Students who will be selected for the finals are required to present a self-

created app/software on his/her own android device, along with a well-formatted hardcopy/softcopy of the source code.

8. Junior Techies (PowerPoint Presentation) Teams per school: Open Participant(s) per team: 2 (One Girl student Compulsory) Software: Microsoft PowerPoint Classes: 3-5 a) For the prelims, participants will have to prepare an original presentation

based on the topic which will be declared on 5th November, 2019 on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/geekahertzsms ) or on our website i.e. http://geekahertz.in

b) Students must submit their creations to “[email protected]” along with participants’ details.

c) Subject line must be “jrtechies_schoolname” and file name must be “school name.”

d) Based on the results of the preliminary round, 12 teams will be selected for the final round.

e) Participants will be required to create a presentation with the theme and raw data provided on the spot in 120 Minutes.

f) No other media may be used; however participants can write some of the text themselves.

9. Game /Story (Software – Scratch)

Teams per school: Open Participant(s) per team: 2 (One Girl student compulsory) Classes: 6-7

a) For the prelims, participants will have to prepare an original presentation based on the topic which will be declared on 5th November, 2019 on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/geekahertzsms ) or on our website i.e. http://geekahertz.in

b) Students will be required to make their own original game or can make a visual story using scratch.

c) Participants are requested to email their source code to “[email protected]” along with a YouTube link of the presentation video [Maximum 3 Minutes] and the participants’ details.

d) Participant are required to submit one “Readme” file in which they can mention relevant details on how to use the game.

e) Subject line must be “scratch_schoolname” and file name must be “school name.” The file must contains the participation details.

f) Last date for the Final Submission will be 15th November’ 2019 g) Based on the results of the preliminary round, 13 teams will be

selected for the final round.

10. IMAGICA (Innovation) Classes: Open Teams per school: Open Participant per team: 2

a) Students must think out of the box and use recyclable e-waste to make new

products. b) A maximum of one model can be submitted by each school. c) The material used for the model should consist of computer junk. d) Each team will be provided with a table and power supply to display their

model. e) Team members should be able to explain their model and answer the queries of

the judges and students.

11. MINICOMP Wizards (Arduino Application) Classes: Open Teams per school: Open Participant per team: 2

a) Students must think out of the box and create something using Arduino Board. E.g. Electric panel, Traffic Light Bots etc.

12. B-Plan (Idea Pitching) Classes: Open Teams per school: Open Participant per team: 2 (One Girl student compulsory)

A. Participants are required to present an original idea for a start-up for a unique

product/service. B. All the ideas have to be submitted latest by 14th November 2019 to

[email protected]” C. Subject line must be “Bplan_schoolname” and the file name must be ”School

Name” D. A total of 10 teams will be selected for the final round. Each team will be given

5 min to present their ideas in front of the judges. E. The participants are required to make a presentation which would comprise of

the following: 1. Concept/Idea 2. Plan elaboration inclusive of feasibility of implementation 3. Logistics

13. DECRYPTER'S Dilemma (Treasure Hunt)

Classes: 9-12 Teams per school: Open Participant per team: 2 A. The event consists of two onsite rounds:

a) Prelim round: An onsite preliminary round, on the basis of which 10 teams will be selected for the real treasure hunt. Details will be announced on the spot. b) Final round: The participants would be made familiar of the rules for this round on the venue only.

B. Participants are requested to bring a smartphone with a good internet connection and a QR scanner installed. Base of eight squares will help you with this one!!

14. PUBG BATTLE The fact that anyone can download and play PUBG Mobile is now commonly known. While playing the game casually is super fun, PUBG Mobile is also played professionally these days in official tournaments like the PUBG Mobile India Series that recently concluded with the winning team taking home some interesting prizes. Classes: 6-12 Teams per school: Open Participant per team: 4 • Squads from any school can participate. • Emulator, I-Pads and Tablets are not allowed in The Final Match. • The game is open for classes 6TH TO 12TH and cross-institution squads are allowed (i.e. The 4 Players of the squad can be of ANY SCHOOL)

• Entry Fee is 4x₹100=₹400 per squad. • Hackers would be banned immediately if it is reported by the judges of the Tournament. • Matches would be held on 10 November from which top teams would be selected for final match. • The rank would be calculated according to the total kills of a team & placement of the team. • First Round i.e. 10/11/2019 would be held at your residence or any of your Playing Spots. • The Final Round i.e. 19/11/2019 would be conducted in the host school. • No Internet Services would be provided for the final round.
