Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program at Nebraska Department Health & Human Services
SL/CE site/organization brief description:
The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Ryan White Program (the
Program) provides lifesaving medications, treatment and support to HIV positive persons
living in Nebraska. The program acts as the grantee of record for the Health Resources and
Services Administration (HRSA) and provides funding to local organizations to provide
services to the community. The program is responsible for oversight, analysis, and
implementation of the federal guidelines governing the Ryan White funds awarded to the
State of Nebraska.

Description of identified needs and proposed activities:
1. Needs Assessment/Statewide coordinated statement of need about HIV/AIDS
1. Facilitate focus groups and gather quantitative data
2. Conduct electronic surveys of HIV providers
3. Conduct electronic and paper surveys to consumers in English and Spanish
2. Compile the Needs Assessment and Statewide Coordinated Statement of Need
1. Gather and compile all of the data based on the federal guidelines
2. Develop a report of all of Nebraska’s HIV consumer needs
3. Present data in written and graph format
Timeframe of proposed activities to begin:
*March 2015 – August 2015
*If the student is able to start with on-site activities by mid-May, that would be ideal. This
means the development of the proposal will need to begin in March or April in order to be
ready to start mid-May.
Benefit of proposed activities to community organization:
Address the unmet needs of Nebraska’s HIV positive communities
Engage community members and stakeholders in the Ryan White program
process
Collaborate with the RW advisory boards to implement the needs assessment
process
Collaborate and coordinate with the NDHHS HIV Prevention program for a
coordinated needs assessment process
