Marriage Wedding Planning starts with engaged couple’s meeting parish priest here at least six (6) months before desired wedding date. Please do not make financial commitments before confirming church date/time with our parish priest. Marriage Convalidation, a simple ceremony popularly called “getting a marriage blessed”, is for a couple married in a civil or non-Catholic ceremony without explicit Catholic Church Permission. Their marriage is not recognized as valid in the Church. Catholic parties in such marriages cannot receive other sacraments or be Sponsors at Baptism and Confirmation. This ituation often is easily remedied by “convalidation” if no other impediment to marriage is present.

Please consult a parish priest for more info.

Baptism takes place monthly on First (Spanish) and Last (English) Sundays. Call Parish to arrange. Before a specific date is confirmed, parents must have/obtain:

Registration in SJB Parish: Family from another parish must obtain written permission from “home” parish for Baptism at SJB.

Certificate of Eligibility to Serve as Sponsor: Each Catholic Sponsor (1 required; 2 preferred) must obtain Certificate of Eligibility from “home” parish.

Letter of Pastor for Christian Witness. One baptized non-Catholic may serve as Christian Witness and must present Letter of Good Standing from current Christian pastor. Catholic not eligible to be a Sponsor may not be Christian Witness.

Registration Form for Follow Me Bible Study for Adults can be found

on page 5 of today’s Parish Bulletin.

Why Should Anyone Become a Catholic? Adults join the

Catholic Church for many reasons. Some see it as the one, true faith established by Jesus

Christ. Others desire a sacramental church with a long established liturgy. Still others want to follow in the footsteps of the many great saints that have

gone before us. Most people who eventually become Catholic start out with a sense of curiosity. Just what do Catholics believe and why do they believe it? If you know someone who is interested in becoming a

Catholic, or if you know someone who is merely curious, now is the time for discussion. The RCIA Program helps adults become full members of the

Catholic Faith. It enables individuals already Baptized to receive First Holy Communion and/or

confirmation. It enables practicing Catholics to learn more about their Faith.
