For The Week: April 29– May 7, 2017 Liturgies Mass Intentions

Catholic Home Missions Appeal will be taken up this weekend. Right now, over 40 percent of dioceses in the United States are considered home missions because they are unable to fund essential pastoral work needed in their communities. Your support funds programs such as religious education, seminary formation, and lay ministry training to build vibrant faith communities right here in the United States. Please be generous. More information can be found at www.usccb.org/home-missions.

ICC’s Building Fund 2nd Collection will be taken next weekend. Please continue to support our parish family. Thank you!

The Parish Council Elections are next weekend for 3 openings. The Ballots & pencils will be distributed. There will be a box in the vestibule for your completed ballot. Thank you in advance for voting!!

The May Crowning of Mary will take place next Saturday, May 6th . There will be two May Crowning's this year, beginning with a procession at the 5:30pm

During the month of May+ Legion of Mary Members and anyone else moved by the Spirit will be leading the Rosary before all week end Masses. Please plan to come 20 minutes prior to the beginning of Mass to participate with your fellow parishioners in this Marian Devotion and add your personal intentions.

CD of the Week: The Necessity of Divine Mercy: Fr. Chris Alar, MIC, reveals the urgency to live and share the powerful message of Divine Mercy. He explains the basics of the Divine Mercy feast, image, novena, chaplet, and hour of mercy, and how to incorporate them into your spiritual life. In this Year of Mercy, discover God’s transformative message of Divine Mercy.

Saint Joseph was a just man, a tireless worker, the upright guardian of those

Cindy Fields - Community Service - 456-4918 - [email protected]

ICC Community Service is holding weekly Golf Tournament meetings on Thursday 4pm to 5pm in Murphy Hall. Valerie Therrien is coordinating the committee again this year. However, due to her duties on the Fairbanks City Council she has made it clear that this will be her last turn as Chairperson. I cannot tell

you how much she has done to help us raise funds for the ICC Soup Kitchen. She is a real gem when it comes to doing all she can to help make the event a lot of fun to participate in. It will be difficult to replace her. Now we must reach out & find a generous person willing to take the lead & work with Valerie & the committee from now until June 16th,2017 Tournament time. Just give us a call or come to our next meeting Thursday from 4pm to 5pm. We truly have fun working together & we absolutely need the help. Thank you for your consideration.

Do you know of any golfers who would like to sign up for the Soup Kitchen Benefit? We are looking to sign up as many teams as possible.... Players of every skill level are encouraged to sign up. It is a Shot Gun start beginning at 6pm.This is a seriously fun fundraising event & friendly fun play with serious golfers & those with limited experience. Even if you don’t play, yet want to contribute to the Soup Kitchen, you can sponsor a hole to help us out, sponsor a team, help us with corporate sponsorship or become a gift prize donor. Every single donation is tax deductible & is so

deeply appreciated. Information & sign-up sheets are in the vestibule. God bless our Soup Kitchen benefactors & volunteers.

RIP Carlos: Please join us in prayer for a very dear friend of the Soup Kitchen. He was a victim of homicide on Easter Sunday. FPD has not released much information while the investigation continues. He once told me a story of being lost in the wilderness between villages after losing the trail the first of 5 nights. He was cold, scared, certain he would die. He prayed in the deepest dark night sky to be found. He also prayed not to be eaten by the big bear that followed his scent & found him. He said that during the day he shared the blueberry patch with the birds & talked to them. Remembering the verse about the birds being taken care of by the Lord, he was sure He would take care of his needs. Carlos settled back into the green mat of the berry bush & asked God again for protection from the hungry bear settling near him in the same berry bush. How I loved to hear his laugh & hear his lessons. “Prayers work!” The villagers found him on the morning of the 6th day. They gave him bread & cool water to drink then put him on the back of a 4-wheeler & took him home. Everyone nick-named him “Blueberry” – Friend of God & the Grizzly & tundra birds.

Pray that he too is with Jesus Christ in the Kingdom of Love. May family & friends left behind call upon Jesus, Merciful Savior –

Father, Son & Holy Spirit. Mother of Mercy – come to our aid. Amen.

Parish Council Elections

May 7, 2017

CANDIDATE BIOS

Bios listed in alphabetical order:

Myrna McGhie

I’ve been a resident of Fairbanks for 47 years, arriving in January 1968. My family built a log home

north of Fairbanks, and I raised four children, Mike, Rob, Scott and Traci in that cozy little house. I

took courses at UAF in writing/Communications, Computers and Psychology to increase my work

skills. As a longtime member of the Sweet Adeline’s, I held many positions in both musical and

administrative leadership. I was fortunate to land a job as a Legislative Assistant for a Legislator in

the Alaska State House. Over the last few years, I have freed myself of other activities and now feel

strongly about serving my church family. Running for a parish council seat seems to be what the

Lord wants me to do now and I hope you will consider me for a position on the council. Thank you

very much for your consideration.

Paul Krenzke

I went to school in Nenana Alaska and after graduating I joined the Marine Corps and served four

years. When I returned home, I worked as a deck hand for a Yukon River barge company, and later

as an equipment operator with the State of Alaska. I met my wife when I left the service in 2009 and

we were married in 2010. We have two children, Bethany, Joshua and, God willing a third one in

August. I love being outside, being with my family, and most of all being Catholic. My family and I

have been members of the Immaculate Conception community for the last 6 years and are always

looking to serve. I believe that God’s holy Church is so special and deserves the very best of all of us.

Thank you for your consideration to serve on the Parish council. If elected, I look forward to working

together with all of you.

Pamela Trottier

My husband and I have been part of the ICC parish since 1977. Our first date was Christmas Eve

midnight Mass in 1976 at ICC. We have 6 children, 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. I

was a part of the Religious Education program for several years and now help out in the Soup

Kitchen whenever I can. I am a Radiologic Technologist at FMH. My husband and I own Alaska Tool

Company. I have also been on the Parish Council for the past 3 years, and I would be honored to

continue serving our faith community through the Parish Council.
