Heavenly Father, We could never thank our military men and women enough for their cou-rageous service and sacrifice to our country
and its people. Show us ways in our communities, churches, and families to thank
and love them better. Keep and protect these heroes and their families,
in the powerful name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

INVITED
The Good News is that we have all been invited—invited to the Kingdom, invited to be disciples. It’s a life-changing invitation, and like so many other such invitations, it requires a great deal of deliberation and discernment. Whether we choose marriage, ordi-nation, single life, or community life, we know the serious planning and consideration that accompany these profound decisions. Like the tower-builder in the Gospel, we have weighed both the monetary and emotional cost. We have pondered and planned our lives in the direction to which we believe God has called us. And while we pray for guidance and accep-tance of God’s will, we often fail to understand so much. Like Solomon, we turn to God for wisdom and counsel in our life-changing decisions.

The First Annual SVdP Retreat held on Aug 13 was a huge success. 29 people were present. We had a wonderful speaker, who was Deacon Steve Cooley. He gave us spiritual enlightenment, and showed us new ways to look at prayer. Some of us actually heard God's whisper that day and a couple said they could feel the Holy Spirit in the church with us. We shared love, friendship. brotherhood and food. We hope that our next retreat will be one that we can
invite many other from different conferences to join us for renewal. Thank you Deacon Steve for your
wisdom and guidance. Thanks to all who prayed for
success.
