Sacred Heart Catholic Church Fourteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time–July 9, 2017 Reflection from the Pastor: The month of July is traditionally dedicated to devotion to the Precious Blood of Jesus. Before the revision of the Roman calendar in 1969, July 1 st was the Feast of the Most Previous Blood of Jesus. Although that feast is no longer obligatory to celebrate, the Roman Missal includes a beautiful votive Mass of the Precious Blood. Why should we have a devotion to the Precious Blood? Simply put, it is through the shed Blood of Jesus that we have been saved. Our Lord offered Himself completely to God the Father on our behalf and we participate in that offering through our sharing in his Passion, Death and Resurrection in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Because we esteem the Precious Blood of Our Lord as the price of our salvation, I encourage all of you to take special care never to call the Precious Blood of Our Lord “the wine”. After the Consecration, there is no more wine, only the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Our Lord is present sacramentally. Here is a prayer that you can pray during this month: Lord Jesus, lover of the whole human race, You shed Your Precious Blood for us on the Cross and renew this offering without ceasing on our altars for us and for our salvation Remember us in all our needs, save us from the time of trial and deliver us from the evil one. Sacred Heart Catholic Church Fourteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time–July 9, 2017

Reflection from the Pastor:

The month of July is traditionally dedicated to devotion to the Precious Blood of Jesus.

Before the revision of the Roman calendar in 1969, July 1st was the Feast of the Most

Previous Blood of Jesus. Although that feast is no longer obligatory to celebrate, the Roman

Missal includes a beautiful votive Mass of the Precious Blood. Why should we have a

devotion to the Precious Blood? Simply put, it is through the shed Blood of Jesus that we

have been saved. Our Lord offered Himself completely to God the Father on our behalf and

we participate in that offering through our sharing in his Passion, Death and Resurrection in

the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Because we esteem the Precious Blood of Our Lord as the

price of our salvation, I encourage all of you to take special care never to call the Precious

Blood of Our Lord “the wine”. After the Consecration, there is no more wine, only the

Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Our Lord is present sacramentally.

Here is a prayer that you can pray during this month:

Lord Jesus, lover of the whole human race,

You shed Your Precious Blood for us on the Cross

and renew this offering without ceasing on our altars

for us and for our salvation

Remember us in all our needs,

save us from the time of trial

and deliver us from the evil one.

You live and reign, now and forever. Amen.

SAN VICENTE DE PAUL - St. Mother Teresa

He aquí
