The Sacrament of Reconcilia on is one of the most unique and beau ful aspects of Catholicism. Jesus

Christ, in His abundant love and mercy, established the Sacrament of Confession, so that we as sinners can

obtain forgiveness for our sins and reconcile with God. For the next few weeks, Father Jorge will be available to hear confessions Monday-Friday from 5:00pm to

6:30pm.

Sunday Reflec on

A CHRISTMAS REPRISE

The Church’s celebra on three weeks ago of the Bap sm of the Lord signaled the “official” end of the Christmas season. Today’s

feast of the Presenta on of the Lord seems to extend the Incarna on celebra on a bit longer. In fact, some have called this feast a

“second Epiphany.”

The first reading recalls the an cipa on of Advent, as Malachi writes, “Lo, I am sending my messenger to prepare the way be-

fore me.” The reading from Hebrews reminds us of the Incarna on, proclaiming that Jesus had a “share” in our own “blood and

flesh.” The Gospel finds the infant Jesus on his first visit to Jerusalem and his human parents once again surprised and in awe over

the events surround his birth.

In the simplicity of the manger, in the grandeur of the temple, in the domes city of Nazareth, Jesus comes. May we come to

know him and so be filled with “wisdom” and the “favor of God.” Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

This past Sunday we celebrated “Word of God Sunday”

Pope Francis is inviting Catholics across the world to deepen their appreciation, love and faithful witness to God and his Word.

That’s why, as established by a papal decree - the third Sunday in Ordinary Time, January 26 this year, is to be observed as a special day devoted to “the celebration, study and dissemination of the Word of God”.

Pope Francis invites us never to take God’s Word for granted, “but instead to let ourselves be nourished by it, in order to acknowledge and live fully our relationship with Him and with our brothers and sisters”.

Here are a few ways to help you on your journey to discover the Word of God.

On the church website www.churchsh.org you will find the daily readings on the homepage along with a link to articles from the National Catholic Register.

We have a Parish App where you can find the daily readings, parish information, the weekly bulletin, etc. Download it today. You will find the download information on page 4 of the bulletin.

Most importantly, Sacred Heart Parish is offering you the opportunity to get bible studies, movies, books, and much more with our Parish subscription to FORMED. Take the time to go online and subscribe to this

wonderful resource. There is also an app for your mobile device.
